- A production of the UWI SRC under the Volcano Ready Communities Project in St. Vincent and The Grenadines. The Volcano Ready Project aims to reduce vulnerability to the multi hazard environment of the La Soufriere Volcano by enhancing community response capacity, planning and preparedness and strengthening awareness. The Volcano Ready Project is made possible through grant support from the Community Disaster Risk Reduction Fund administered by the Caribbean Development Bank and with support from our project partners NEMO, SVG Red Cross Society and Community Development Division.
What is there to dislike about this piece? Such a wonderful production, rich in history. The introductory song, (interview) monologues, and photos perfectly summarized the 1979 tragedy. Let's hope there's not a repeat, but in the unfortunate event that there is, it's important to be extra prepared. This is right on time!
I really don't know what's wrong with people...
@@anthonyroberts4843 a lot of hurt people on social media trying to spread their pain...ignore them
And here it goes again!!!! Please protect your children Lord
We in Barbados, mainly the western side of the island, were slightly affected when this volcano erupted back then. I remember the first night I saw the ash falling, I was driving to a friend's house and saw what looked like dry raindrops on the car's windscreen, but instead it was volcanic dust. Some people had collected some and had it saved in bottles. Wishing you Vincys God's protection in the event that it erupts fully again.
Thanks for your concern.
and it did..
Thank you so much for putting this together. I was not yet born during the last eruption but many of my relatives experienced it. It's amazing to put imagery to their memories.
I was just 3 years old. I have absolutely no recollection of these events but its good to hear what transpired then.
From the south of St zLucia. 1979. Volcanic ash reached us and left a light coating on the furniture of homes We did not know immediately what it was but on Easter Sunday morning the mushroom cloud was there for all to see . December 28 and 29 ,2020 I witnessed a very orange sun- rise and suspected some further seismic activity .Folks we are watching and praying with/ for you from this end .
Thanks for praying for us. We appreciate it.
who watching now? 2021?
Praying for my homeland at this scary and uncertain times..only God knows the outcome.
Thank you. This brought back so many memories for me. I remember that year, having an extended Easter vacation and when we did go back to school (GHS) it was half day morning classes and Bishops College had classes in the afternoon.
I was thirteen years old in Bequia when the volcano erupted on Good Friday, April 13th. There was ashes everywhere when we woke up the next day...ashes covered the plums and all the fruit that were in season. It was a scary time for us. I pray that this volcano goes back to sleep along with COVID-19, so that everyone can get on with their lives. Stay strong SVG, we will get through this together...God bless our homeland.
I pray for the people of my beloved Island.🙏🏾
So moving ! I am from Martinique, living in France, near Paris. Wonderful pearls, these Islands, but with potential natural disasters. And people so brave !
Possibility of Eruption has returned. God please keep my family safe. I live in America
Very timely!
Bless our West Indies culture and pray that they will never change ,my the rest of the world know that we can all get along and thrive by helping each other .
This is so interesting. I always wanted to know what it was like in an eruption and to hear their stories and see the documentaries was so touching. I hope everyone gets themselves ready.
My dad told me about this, and at the time he had moved from St Vincent to Barbados and he said the ashes got all the way over there on top of all the roofs and what not!
well now you can see for yourself exactly what he meant...very sad
Good hearing the stories. God bless SVG.
Nice! Very informative. Happy New Year and May God bless you all and keep you safe in 2021.

A ***** production - Proud to be West Indian!
I clearly remember that year. I was not a teenager as yet and the clouds to me were beautiful I guess because I wasnt in the danger zone. Anyone remember the word BODOW? That's what the clothing SVG received was called. Bodow
THE LA SOUFRIERE VOLCANO JUST ERUPTED TODAY!!!!
13th April 1979 was the last time it erupted and today Friday 9th April it's awake and it has erupted!!!!!!
🌋🌋🌋🌋🌋🌋😣😵
That day carved 'Grand Canyon" size memories into my mind.
Please put up also stories about the recent eruption.
I need to hear that full song from King Olo (the opening song)
Here’s the full song : fb.watch/2KS3jDDzV_/
@@HanifBarnwell thank you
This was beautifully done.
0:52 that's when the kindergarten teacher in my school was born, and she was also born in St.Vincent, but she lives in bequia, and so do I
I was 3 years old and when I tell people I remember this they be doubting me
that's sad they doubt you because 3 year olds can definitely remember things, i have memories from that age
Interesting that this video came out 3 months ago and now St. Vincent is erupting in April 2021.
praying that an explosive eruption does not occur & it just returns to a dormant state. Great vid by the way.
Brother, I see you have great love for your people. We all have to realize that these are the last days. The plagues upon the earth will increase. None of us want to hear this, but it’s written in the Holy Bible. God will protect the people of St Vincent; they are from the lost tribes of Israel.
I remember when my mum got a call from Canada when it happened. 79.
Rose hall big up
Big up ya self Bones it’s P blessed new year genna 🤘🏽
Well La Soufriere is active again...so coincidental but I think they knew something was up

And it did😢😢

2021 : amidst a pandemic, here we go again
Unfortunately it errupted today TWICE!
This is a documentary from the future after St. Vincent bounced back and everything returned to normal.
What is there to dislike about this video?
Remember God loves you so much that he sent his son to die for our sins so that we can have everlasting life please repent and trust in him
In case of an eruption let the people carry one bag per person
Please avoid the sea I know in a panic but the sea can be just as deadly . As a child heard of tidal wave but I guess the bigger name is tsunami and this is horrific. Please stay aware and vigilant God people. Crops will grow again as the land becomes more fertile. Please be safe.
When soufrifre blow i going to cry

I don't want this to happen again so sad to hear about it when my mom told me what she went tru
