I don’t know if it was purposeful but the mention of the crescent moon and going into the pearlescent moon (hermitcraft) time lapse music is ✨mwah✨ chef kiss
As someone who lives literally on the opposite side of the country. Yes I'm freezing my toes off I'm starting to think we are going to get snow soon. But for me it's weird for it to not be cold! Like it's the biggest part of fall to freeze all your limbs off on Halloween night then defrost after you jump into bed. 😂
I’m from the North and I can’t imagine it being hot in the fall! Whenever we get heat it feels so strange. Growing up I just assumed southerners didn’t do fall traditions lol
7:25 Not American, but I feel this very much as an Australian when it comes to 'breezy autumns' and 'white christmases' cause it's currently spring here
I very much understand your ambivalence about spooky season. I grew up in New England, where it was anywhere from 70 degrees, all the way down to below freezing, and even sometimes "oh crap, it's snowing." I'd wondered how different seasons and holidays would feel with such different weather, though I didn't experience it myself for a number of years. Now I live in New Orleans, where it is likewise 90s and hurricane season, and feels nothing like the what I grew up with. I miss the cooler fall weather I grew up with (but not the snow).
I never knew how artificial seasons were until I moved from southern California to northeastern Tennessee a few years ago. Out here where you get real seasons the land itself tells you it’s time to cozy up. Of course there’s the actual changing leaves and pumpkin themed everything still, but it feels most truthful. The end of summer brings cool breezy nights and chilly rainy days. The whole month of September is a wonky transition of alternating between hot and humid 80F daytime heat to chilly 45F nights. In the morning it’s chilly enough to bundle up in layers, then by noon it’s nice out, and somewhere along the way it’s become sweltering and you pull out the shorts n T-shirts again for that late afternoon heat. And again in the morning it’ll be cold enough that there’s frost on the yard! Feeling the season vs manufacturing it makes a world of difference and has made fall my favorite time of year. Also mushroom outfit was totally necessary to show off. The book came out beautiful!
As an artist, paper tearing with a ruler is the only proper way to make your paper smaller. Not only do you get a more authentic paperyness, it also helps produce a straight edge… as long as you do it properly
As a person blessed with red and yellow leaves and nice cold weather, this design gives me very authentic autumn vibes 🍁And it matches mushroom witch costume perfectly
As a fellow Floridian I felt this in my soul. It looks fantastic Jess! The deckled edges look nice. Maybe painting or gluing in some autumnal end pages would help? Either way the leaves especially came out really good. Happy Halloween! 🎃
As a Canadian myself, I feel for ya my bro. It does get nice and cold during October, and sometimes we even get surprise snow, ah the joy of living in the Prairies where the wind can bite cha.
You are so entertaining. :) You might consider picking up a FDM 3D printer for simple extruded shapes like your crescent moon. Filament is cheaper than resin and you don't have to deal with the mess.
This is INCREDIBLE. Also I love that you used a basic sketchbook because for some reason I never thought to re-purpose my unused or barely-used sketchbooks from college! wowow your creativity & execution are amazing ❤ I definitely feel inspired to try book binding again.
This looks so cool! It would be a great addition to any collection. Great job! I'm so glad that the DAS Bookbinding channel is helping. I know his tutorials have helped me immensely on my own bookbinding adventures. Just for future reference now that you're tooling your leather, you could probably use some antiquing gel on your stuff if you ever wanted to draw out the engraved details, i.e. the veins on your leaves. The gel usually comes in light brown, dark brown, and black, and you would want to put a resist on your (dyed) leather before you use the gel or it can get really strong, but the effects are usually more than worth it. Hope this helps!
Good 😊 to see 🧐 I'm not the only one that turns all my household books 📚 into grimoires and books of shadows 😎♏🤓 and I like your Harry Potter style glasses
Your "Spellbook" is so Nice... & it's so awesome how you're able to make your own Books ❤❤❤ On January 1st 2024 I began My very first "Junk Journal" and I'm obsessed 😊 I started another smaller one shortly after and I'm just about done with them both, though I continue to add bits & Bob's every now and then; I'm looking forward to starting a couple more with the bit of experience I have 😄 and I continuously look for more inspiration on TH-cam thus how I came across you, but you are way more experienced and your work is much "harder" for lack of a better word. 🤔🤦♀️
2:52 I am pretty sure I have one of these giant sketchbooks in my closet because I was given it back when I was in grade 4 i think… I should make new sketchbook out of it considering I don’t use it
I live in Savannah GA, so I feel ya. Especially since I grew up in the north and experienced all the seasons yearly. It doesn't feel like October this year too, we only just decorated our house yesterday too bc our cat had surgery this month and we didn't want her cone getting stuck on decor, Just not feeling very spooky this year, I hope next year is better (:
I’m also from Florida and experiencing winter in Idaho was a drastic change. The fact that I was easily cold up here, shows how used to the heat I was. Gotta love the difference between southeast and northwest
This is such a cool video! I have always been interested in bookbinding, but it’s very intimidating, so I settle for painting over my plain old boring sketchbooks instead, thank you for listing the videos that helped you! I will be sure to give them a watch
As someone from the southwestern US OH BOY do i understand. I love autumn but never see it and the cool weather is like 75 meybe. loved how this turned out so gorgeous!
Omg!!! I remember watching that Percy Jackson video!!! I totally forgot about it until you mentioned it! I also genuinely thought this was the first video I watched by you until then 😅
I can so relate about the weather. I live in Arizona and last weekend we were still near 100 degrees. But today it's in the mid 70s. Where's my heavy sweaters? LOL. Love the video, BTW!
7:23 I mean from where I'm from we either get like two weeks of fall and then it starts snowing like it usually starts snowing before Halloween or surprisingly this year we actually got a full fall and now it's just starting to snow but not really so it's just really cold and windy
The book looks great! I am a leather crafter, and I can tell you the yellow colour is different because your sample leather was different - thicker, and possibly cowhide? Dye colours tend to come out more intense on very thin leather, and there's variations depending on hide type as well. As someone who lives in the Great White North 😉 I often wonder how people live in climates without seasons. Autumn is my favourite season, but I enjoy winter snow and watching the world come back to life in the spring never gets old.
As someone who doesn't have winter seasons, therefor no Autum or Spring or whatever, it's eternally hot over here, it's sunny or rainy-hot day in and day out, I didn't know Halloween was an actual real holiday people celebrated until I watched the nightmare before christmas.
very inspirational. I'm putting together a make shift wizard costume for Halloween, and now I want to do a "spell book" to add to the costume. (Granted it's gunna be alot simpler, but you inspired me!)
The over the garden wall theme with hurricane footage killed me XD Also, I will forevermore pronounce the name of my country can-ah-di-ah. beautiful spellbook! it looks like an authentic grimoire!
From the another graphic designer.... Aaah that's so gorgeous 😍 This is my first video I watched, youtube recommended it to me and hoo it was magical to watch you making the book from the beginning, the details, skill and tools 🫠 Loved it and the leather cover and leaves, with 3D printed moon.... the Whole thing
I live in chile, in the south henisphere, so we have halloween in Spring, literally It’s sunny, with flowers and birds. After getting candy, kids get the costumes inmediatly off cause of the sweat, specially with like full body suits
I second the thing about Florida not having seasons. I used to live there, and after I moved to Oregon I was shocked that Fall was actually like... real lmao
I'm also from Florida, unfortunately from the Tampa bay area. Theres crispy leaves on the grounds, but thats cause there's trees on the ground. Gotta love it here /s
Those strips would be nice for paper mache Edit: also, this would be a great botanical study drawing journal for plants and fungi, especially fungi as you have the Shroom Witch persona
I’m from Indiana so I can agree but cooler weather changing leaves and snow I can do that except for the changing of the leaves. I’d love that so much hot down here.
I live in North Carolina in the mountains. We get some good fall temps in our section of the state, not sure if their in your fall situation out on the coast.
Dude, to add to the weather convo, I was born in the 90s, and I live in Arkansas. I remember when I was a kid that October used to be cold! My mom would make me wear a jacket over my Halloween costumes because it was too cold without it. Now, though, we're lucky if we get a cold front to bring the temp down to the 70s F 😭
When you said the store wasn't there I was fully convinced that he hurricane has taken it 😭
Istg im either to tired or have dyslexia (Prob both) i read that as freaking STONE- HELLO-
I don’t know if it was purposeful but the mention of the crescent moon and going into the pearlescent moon (hermitcraft) time lapse music is ✨mwah✨ chef kiss
My exact thought right here bro
22:25 Jenna talking about her “too much gene” has legitimately saved so many of my projects 😂
Honestly, I loved the book. However, the fact that Club Penguin Halloween music was playing in the background is what really stole my heart
Sobs the kitty didnt sabotage, he helped you find the book corner 😭
As someone who lives literally on the opposite side of the country. Yes I'm freezing my toes off I'm starting to think we are going to get snow soon. But for me it's weird for it to not be cold! I’d love to seen one for each season! And then a special one for the Florida summer. It’s the Chaos Wizard’s tome
Ah yes, the Tome of The Florida Man!
That design is insane actually
I’m from the North and I can’t imagine it being hot in the fall! Whenever we get heat it feels so strange. Growing up I just assumed southerners didn’t do fall traditions lol
Same, it doesn't feel like fall where I live (desert...) but I'm trying to soak in the autumn season before I go all out for Christmas
Its raining at me right now
You have a cat with a mustache whose name is Mumbo. That is amazing and I truly hope you purposefully made that reference to Mumbo Jumbo :D
I thought the same thing
7:25 Not American, but I feel this very much as an Australian when it comes to 'breezy autumns' and 'white christmases' cause it's currently spring here

I love your sense of humor, I think that's what is missing in the aestetic community for me.

imagine a 1000 years later archeologist find this and say "WITCHS WERE REAL!!" 😂😂
Jess. If you love fall. If you love the leaves and the trees. If you're tired of Florida weather. Come to Oregon. It's beautiful here.
Agreed that’s what I do every Halloween
Four Keys books is a great bookbinder. I learned so much and am looking forward to checking out your DAS recommendation!
As a person blessed with red and yellow leaves and nice cold weather, this design gives me very authentic autumn vibes 🍁And it matches mushroom witch costume perfectly
As an Arizona person, autumn is an idea. On another note, this book is amazing! I think you did a great job :D
always a wonderful day when jess uploads
As a fellow Floridian I felt this in my soul. It looks fantastic Jess! The deckled edges look nice. Maybe painting or gluing in some autumnal end pages would help? Either way the leaves especially came out really good. Happy Halloween! 🎃
Speaking as someone who like, obsessively collects too many notebooks and sketchbooks, can relate. The finished piece looks so cool ❤
Brava! Excellent job! Beautiful finished book!
As a Canadian myself, I feel for ya my bro. It does get nice and cold during October, and sometimes we even get surprise snow, ah the joy of living in the Prairies where the wind can bite cha.
The joys of making sure your Halloween costume is big enough to fit over your snowsuit, no matter what
You have a subtle humor that I adore! 💜
You are so entertaining. :)
You might consider picking up a FDM 3D printer for simple extruded shapes like your crescent moon. Filament is cheaper than resin and you don't have to deal with the mess.
Another beautiful book by Jess
Those leaves turned out so well!
This is INCREDIBLE. Also I love that you used a basic sketchbook because for some reason I never thought to re-purpose my unused or barely-used sketchbooks from college! wowow your creativity & execution are amazing ❤ I definitely feel inspired to try book binding again.
The whimsy, I love it so much.
Absolutely love the final reveal! It came out gorgeous! ❤
The mushroom costume with the spellbook sort of reminds me of the characters Shrub mixed with Great Witch Shelby from Empires SMP. Really cool looking
The straps look nice it really helps the book
This looks so cool! It would be a great addition to any collection. Great job!

i live in canada and the idea of hot weather in the fall is crazy to me; we literaly sometimes get snow in october 😭
I’m only a minute in and you’re so much fun! 😅 I can’t wait to see how the book turns out. 😊
It's so, like, breathtaking
Your "Spellbook" is so Nice... & it's so awesome how you're able to make your own Books ❤❤❤ On January 1st 2024 I began My very first "Junk Journal" and I'm obsessed 😊 I started another smaller one shortly after and I'm just about done with them both, though I continue to add bits & Bob's every now and then; I'm looking forward to starting a couple more with the bit of experience I have 😄 and I continuously look for more inspiration on TH-cam thus how I came across you, but you are way more experienced and your work is much "harder" for lack of a better word. 🤔🤦♀️
3:03 insane content right here trust me
I loved this! I especially like how the belts turned out a little bit darker even if it wasn’t intended that way lol. A happy accident indeed!!
This was so satisfying to watch. Great job!
I don't know how I got to this video, but I really enjoyed it. You have a great personality and are very creative! ❤
2:52 I am pretty sure I have one of these giant sketchbooks in my closet because I was given it back when I was in grade 4 i think… I should make new sketchbook out of it considering I don’t use it

Lovely work! Thank you for sharing your grimoire and cosplay - I'm still working on the gap between spine and cover, myself. Cheers! 🍪☕
Its beautiful and cute I love the details 💕
I think it turned out amazingly!
And you've also made me want to create a Wizard multiclassed into Circle of the Spores now!
I’m also from Florida and experiencing winter in Idaho was a drastic change. The fact that I was easily cold up here, shows how used to the heat I was. Gotta love the difference between southeast and northwest

Your better than me with creating the book 📖 this is like DIY type shit I prefer buying a book and altering it to my magical liking
Oh wow. I love it. It’s stunning ❤
It would also make a really cool cookbook!
THIS IS AMAZING! I MEAN, WOW!! I just instantly subscribed
Thanx for subscribing.
As someone from the southwestern US OH BOY do i understand. I love autumn but never see it and the cool weather is like 75 meybe.

Another absolute BANGER from Jess hell yeaah
I can so relate about the weather. I live in Arizona and last weekend we were still near 100 degrees. But today it's in the mid 70s. Where's my heavy sweaters? LOL.

it turned out amazing! my jaw literally dropped at the reveal. also as a fellow floridian... yeah 😔
I live in Texas. We get ONE WEEK in February where it's cold out. I used to live in Michigan, I miss the leaves changing!!!
Incredible work!
0:20 was NOT ready for the over the garden wall music
I live in chile, in the south henisphere, so we have halloween in Spring, literally It’s sunny, with flowers and birds. After getting candy, kids get the costumes inmediatly off cause of the sweat, specially with like full body suits

Luv u 2.
I'm also from Florida, unfortunately from the Tampa bay area. Theres crispy leaves on the grounds, but thats cause there's trees on the ground. Gotta love it here /s
We’re in Florida. I love cold weather too. I get so disappointed when it’s like 85 degrees on Halloween.
Those strips would be nice for paper mache
Edit: also, this would be a great botanical study drawing journal for plants and fungi, especially fungi as you have the Shroom Witch persona
Gotta love Florida weather, at least your in an area that has good things around. Meanwhile I live in a boring area.
I "technically" live in the south, but more northern south that Florida south so I do get the cold autumn season instead of just summer year-round.
such a beautiful tome! great job - only thing I would maybe do different is to add a bit of weathering... maybe some spiderwebs :)
I’m from Indiana so I can agree but cooler weather changing leaves and snow I can do that except for the changing of the leaves. I’d love that so much hot down here.
meanwhile in "Canadia" i'm already wearing my thermal socks and winter clothes
I live in North Carolina in the mountains. We get some good fall temps in our section of the state, not sure if their in your fall situation out on the coast.
Hi Jess! Just to let you know the cover really looks like our flag (Turkish Flag) And it looks amazingg
Hi unluelifnil and thanx.
Kinda looks like something Klee would use!!
Very beautiful❤
YOOO NEW VIDEO
Yeah lets goooo
As a fellow florida resident... this hit hard 😂

Great job. Woot!
