I live in Toronto. I have a way to get rid of the weeds between the stone block.
1: use a bucket, fill up half with water
2: add white vinegar to fill up the the whole bucket
3: add coarse salt
4: 2 tbsp of detergents
It works very well on my front and back yard.
But make sure you clean up all the weeds first before pour the vinegar water into the cracks
The weeds won’t grow again or at least the whole summer

我以第一身來證實大部份小朋友在外國讀書肯定比在香港優勝，我仔同女都在加拿大🇨🇦世界排名最高的大學畢業，畢業後都在加拿大第一大銀行內部工作，以工作時間相比香港優勝得多，雖然加拿大報稅比香港高，但實際享受的服務比較多，如果以正常人自己沒有創意的打工一族到退休年齡百份百比香港優勝，亦未遇過種族歧視，而生活質素根本不能相提並論。
加拿大大學高極有限。十大都唔入。

小孩可以去當地社區council學下柔道或空手道，學費不高而且可以認識當地小朋友，小朋友好快熟絡。不過一般要父母晚上揸車接送。

Hi, Gavin, I suggest you taking 20o/o of dish liquid mix 80o/o white vinegar to kill weed easily. Keep your lawn less than 8" otherwise very difficult to cut grass. Use trimmer, never let any children beside you. Enjoy your new life

如果系硬水嚟講呢，如果for 飲用煮食用普通濾走沙石雜質嗰啲濾水器就ok，系沖涼就真係要裝返啲中和ph值嘅濾水器
喺英國主要食歐洲產食物，等於去Citysuper半價
趙傅你去咗英國之後的確係容光煥發咗好多
通常用硬水化軟水加3M 濾水系統就可以了。不用濾水太多次了，難於維護。
我住在加卅灣區，每星期清收一次垃圾，我買了一個冰柜放在車房裡，把廚餘用乾淨的膠袋包裝起來，放到冰箱裏，收垃圾的前一晚把冰凍的廚餘放在垃圾桶內再放置屋外，便沒有臭味了
我姨婆跟你一样，乜都收，垃圾，豬骨，魚皮，全在冰柜裡。
比全民罵，佢係正宗港產執紙皮垃圾婆乸。

你講嘅「困難」係文化上面同瓔境上嘅適應，俾啲時間就可以overcome架喇。
硬水係亞洲人嘅迷思嚟，初到英國都好執著買濾水器，而家同英國人一樣開水喉就咁飲，頭髮仲濃密過嚟英國之前。最緊要係壓力小，空氣好，食得健康，頭髮自然甩得冇咁犀利，水其實好少關事嘅。
你可以考慮用under sink water softener system解決硬水問題. 我們在加拿大很普遍！ 上綱search waterfilter or water softener system 會有很多資料供參考！此外買些可以拆走的. 搬去新居時可以繼續使用.
在你身上體會到智識就是財富，祝生活愉快
濾水器只可以減少溶解嘅礦物質，Hard water 要用water softener 致完全去除溶解嘅礦物質。飲用水可以用reverse osmosis ,不過就完全冇曬礦物質

Hi Gavin, when you’re ready to purchase your own property, I recommend engineered timber flooring, Bosch (German made) white goods and kitchen appliances. And for flooring maintenance, a Miele vacuum.

Hard water 可以裝 water softener, 我們已經用了二十年。

Haha….the difficulties you’ve mentioned are just a common British way of life but of course the higher cost of living and parking issues can be solved if you’re willing to move away from the capital. Overtime you’ll get used to many of these difficulties and the benefits will make you overlook these minor obstacles. Enjoy the freedom!

I don’t have to apologise for not talking about overcoming racial discrimination because I frankly have not experienced any in the 30+ years I’ve lived in the UK. I went to a state school and my English were mainly helped by my English friends. I’ve never not got offered the job I interviewed for. Even became the first women partner of Chinese ethnicity at the firm I worked for. Actually, in lots of situations ethnic applicants for jobs have the upper hand if certain corporations need to fulfil the diversity and equality commitment. In fact a large percentage of independent schools are attended by children of ethnic background because Asian parents are willing to spend most of their earnings on their kids education. State grammar schools also have a large percentage of children from ethnic background. I’m afraid I cannot agree with your negative perception.

At supermarket you can rent a carpet cleaning machine. They can also sell you the appropriate detergent.
Carpet is so yesterday. In your permanent home consider hardwood floor. Better still use Italian tiles. The cost is very comparable. Tiles cut upkeep everyday time. Italy, only Italy.
Garbage
Buy bungee cord to secure the dustbin lid. Are you sure it is fox and and not raccoon?
You may consider buying a plastic cabinet to house 2.5 bin. The hardware shops is an excellent source. They come in sever pieces and you can take it apart when you move.
Put diapers in a plastic bag and tie the top. Washing dirty dustbin in winter is no fun.
Food. Use the oven more often. Buy a food mixer system. Expensive but last a life time. It is a window to a new world.
Chinese cooking brings common Chinese illnesses. Do you notice the change after you have been eating a lot less peanut oil.
Weather. You will get used to it. There is a reason why the Roman did not venture north of Hadrian''s Wall
Water. You need to drink hard water for you heart and for children bones. Some time water is harden artificially to prevent water pipe corrosion. It is common in older houses the last mile pipe is lead. The shampoo and body wash is quite neutral to water hardness. When you have your own house I will show you how to filter water down to 25 micron and with UV-C to kill most gems.
A change of environment is always a good thing. The change brings visual stimulation opens new ideas. Enjoy.

In Canada, you have to shovel the snow (if you live in the "snow belt"). And it can be hard work after a snow storm, even if you have a snow thrower.
AND, you must clear the snow on your door steps and your drive way --- simply for legal and safety reasons.
