Pretty poor of the casino to not allow it to be a standard face up game. He isn’t a card counter and with the action he is giving , should be stay on all 17’s as well.
It a house rule, which is ok. If they bend it for me, they'd have to bend it for everyone. I'm good with it!
A few casinos will offer a Double deck s17. For those who complain about certain table rules at a given casino. I'd suggest learning to play perfect basic strategy first and foremost. If you're wanting the best odds, then this is a must!
The logic behind pitch games deter counting can be debatable here. to be honest, (if playing 2 hands) after the 2nd hand, a counter could hold here and make sure his count is right before his final hand signal. In other words be advantageous. Just my opinion though 😅

Just a suggestion, keep your 100’s and 500’s in stacks of 10 (or the 500 in 5’s) that way you can quickly assess how much you have .
I want to try to keep them on film so the viewers can see them..

Sometimes stay on... 15/16's....if dealer shows higher, esp.if playing one hand....dealer will have worse cards than you sometimes,...i usually double down on a hard 12 if dealer shows a 17/dealer usually never shows a hard 17.
I do mix up my play as well sometimes.

The casino should not let you open both hands at the same time.You should finish playing the first hand then you open the secondhand .That’s right way to play two hands
If they allow it, that's better for the player. Why would anyone argue in favor of a casino?
This brings up an important issue! Gamblers who won't show other players their cards. This only helps to have more information, it's not you against the players, it's more information for all players that actually helps

I am not an expert, but at 3:15 in the video, Mr Handpay winds up with a 20 on one hand and a 17 on his second hand. Then Dealer winds up with a 17. Mr Handpay comments about it being a win. I think he means since it was actually a push, you count that as a win. However, Dealer then takes his 500 on the 17 that was a push? Or is the game the Dealer gets the push? Or what am I missing? Would the M Casino correct a mistake, or is it too late? Or was this a mistake at all? Again, not an expert, just wondering aloud... LOL!

I still do not understand why dealing the cards down is a deterrent for card counting?
my understanding is say you're playing one spot on a table and there are 5 people playing next to you in the other spots. (So there are 12 total player cards after the pitch) Say you have a 8 and 4 (so 12 total) on your first two cards and you don't know the remaining 10 player cards on the table. If the whole table's cards were dealt face up and you saw the remaining 10 cards are face cards, you are going to feel much better about hitting your 12 and not busting. But since you don't know the other 10 cards (they are dealt face down), you don't have that extra information to utilize in your decision making.
