Love their first 2 albums because that's the Dire Straits that hit me as a youngster ~ that unique sound. Kind of a mix of Bob Dylan & JJ Cale. I lost interest after that. They have almost 2 million subscribers just on YT. That's more than Bob Dylan has!

Agree wholeheartedly. It seems "Sultans of Swing" and "Money for Nothing" are Dire Straits' two biggest hits. But I can think of literally dozens of DS songs I like better.
Five or ten years back Mark was taking guitar lessons in London because he was convinced there was more to learn. Likely technique and theory, I would guess. I wouldn't bother if I was him but he was determined to learn more, so kudos to Mark! 👀🎸👍😎👌
The energy and joy is palpable. Each member of the band plays his role perfectly. Egos are checked before taking the stage. However they extrude quiet confidence. They know they are tops in their realm.
I grew up with daily music of the Dire straits when living with my parents in my younger days. My dad was able to play every song on his red Fender guitar. 🔥🎸❤️ Played in bands and was well known in my local country area. Now because of circumstances and his age he can't play the guitar anymore. For him it is like dying a little bit...😢 Your music was and still is really his and our life ! Lady writer is one of our favorites, he also have seen the Dire Straits live end of the seventies. And lucky , now his 2 grandsons are playing the Dire Straits ...isn't that beautiful ? 💫
He's fantastic! I suppose some guitar fanatics can find other players who are "technically" better or faster than MK, but as far as getting pure enjoyment from the sounds he produces, I'm hard-pressed to find anyone better. Plus, he has a very expressive voice and a great stage presence.
No real fame for them at this point in their career, just raw talent and loving what they do. A brilliant rolling tale of a tune, love when Mark chuckles and Pick smiles, tight!
probably the most underrated band in the last 60 years. the most enjoyable music for my ears comes from this group, dire straits. and i am 76 years old and heard a lot from elvis through this noise they call music today. i love this song!
