UP and West Bengal has more mango varieties. Alphonso mango is expensive because sellers in Pune don't allow any other mango varieties in market. In Bangalore we can get good quality of mango for 100-150. Mallika, Amrapali , Banganpally are very sweet and big size compared to Alphonso. Rasapuri or Pairi variety from Karnataka tastes similar to Alphonso.

Who said that other varieties are not allowed in Pune? I have seen langda aam and dashehri here in market. Do you see any alphonso mango in up or bengal? It is just because other state’s mango becomes very costly when they try to import
