@@ABCDuwachuiBecause it was a significant part of my life that was stripped away by woke bullshit. And it's not "mourning", it's remembrance and sadness that it's gone. I still feel sad constantly that my dad died, doesn't mean I'm ACTIVELY in "mourning."
As a Penn Stater, even with the outcome of this game, I wanted to say that I always have thought the Illini warchant was awesome. It looms overhead with an eerie tone, and never failed to get people clapping along. It's a damn shame ya'all were forced to drop the tradition. The new block I logo is a joke compared to the round chief emblem. Cheers guys
LSU fan here. Heard this in 2002 when we played y’all in the Sugar Bowl. Thought it was a badass chant. Sorry, guess chalk another one up to political correctness 🤦🏻♂️
thanks to the trend of everyone not being able to handle jokes or even tradition they felt so offended that they were "entitled" to end a illinois tradition 🙄
I love to hate on IL, but this is just beyond freaking sad that an ages old cheer and a few notes are being punted because, well because why again? Notes are now inherently racist too? Good great xenu is PC culture sadly taking over way too much.
How the hell was this seen as racist? Like I get dropping the native logo but this was just plain-ol music. Maybe this was like an actual chant used by natives back in the day but I highly doubt it.
I grew up an Illinois fan. Went to many, many games and events, was at the final appearance of Chief Illiniwek (kind of by accident) and at this point, I am no longer an Illinois fan. Anything special or identifying about the university has been stripped away. When they eventually got rid of THIS chant is the the day my Fandom ended. They just went too far. They might as well be the "Fighting Grass Fields" or something.
As a Buckeye fan, I love the Illinois war chant. I'm sorry for your loss.
As a Penn State fan, I'd say I have to agree

How are yew five years later? Still in mourning?

@@gund2281 well that’s nice
As a Badger fan I always have enjoyed the competition with the Illini. Your war chant and Chief Illiniwek were special.
Bring back the chief!

Illinois has had this chant for years....how it became associated with FSU is WAY beyond me!
This is nowhere near the FSU warchant. Not even close. The Atlanta Braves and the Kansas City Chiefs use FSU chant.
@@RealRaw561 sounds just like it! I am an FSU grad….
@@bremenrooster So am I lol. The only thing similar is the four count drum beat.
@@bremenrooster no it doesn't.
@@bremenrooster You should be ashamed if you're an FSU grad if you think the two war chants sound "just alike"
Getting rid of this was such a dumb idea by the school this is their tribute to Troy this is their war chant SHOULD HAVE LEFT IT
I sat next to the band. And I am now deaf. So sad. 🥺
Thanks Jay Rothstein

They love ending our traditions! They want the 3 in 1 gone as well
War chat hard asf 💯
Illinois without the chant is like USC without Tribune to Troy! Why did they ban this song i don't get it?
I don't get how this is a native American war chant sounds more of a western style chant
I am so fucking sad right now
ILL-INI!
🧡💙🧡💙 the warchant ~ did i hear correctly that this was eliminated also? 🙄
#chief
#illini
Yeah..unfortunately we ended up getting blown out in this game.
Holy crap that’s cool
Need this energy 2nite

When was this recorded
That looks like Matt McGloin for Penn State, so I'm thinking 2012 - Penn State 35 Illinois 7
As someone who is part Native American, this was badass and not offensive in any way. Don’t get it. 🙆🏻♂️

Nothing beats the Florida State war chant thank you ann Bowden
If they're not going to bring back the war chant, Barry Freaking Hauser needs to get something just as epic to replace it. This is getting stupid.
I asked him about it summer of 2021 and he said that they replaced it with the DJ's pick.
I almost want to make a new chant
@@TheStickCollector barf. I don't care about the DJ. Let's hear the band!
Sorry that the woke crowd ruined it.

Wtf was the athletic director thinking??? The chant was the only reason why I like Illinois Univ.
BOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!👎🏾

Rather support something "racist" than be a Hector Terrero.
Underwhelming.
