Watching X Games is the one thing that is consistent in my life every year!!
Same
yep, slope used to be my fav and now it is a big air
Same since I bin 13 in 03
It gets better and better with the tricks these guys can do now
This is by far the best big air ever! Everyone stomping their tricks and everyone going yard!
This was the most exciting big air of all time hands down
☝✊
100%
imagine throwing a quad 18, landing it clean, and still not getting on the podium
I like that format though, cause technically it's Big Air not Best Trick so it takes more than 1 crazy trick to win it.
@@rbgilbert11 Hie is talking about the fact that the level here is insane, that even something as ridiculous as a quad 18 doesn't give you a podium
Lol
If it was just rotations ski big air would become aerials
You need a 2160 or go home.
To anyone looking to follow the Takeru Otsuka story of this competition:
Run 1 - 11:57
Run 2 - 17:43
Run 3 - 25:46
Run 4 - 34:56
Run 5 - 42:23
fun fact, I was thinking about this and then they brought it up on the broadcast around 24:40: SSX Tricky only supported up to 3 inversions and 1800 degree rotations; anything bigger than that would be displayed as "???".
So yeah, that insane over-the-top arcadey snowboarding game wouldn't even be able to comprehend what was thrown down last night.
loved Dusty seeing what everyone else was throwing and deciding to just take his previous medals and have a fun time out there
He was outgunned... He knew it.
Imagine being Takeru and doing the frontside quad cork which has never been done and not even getting on the podium.
underscored and the others were a little overscored
@@desmoMarco91 he got 49 from fs quad how tf that is underscored
@@nixintz not that trick specifically (although i would have given him a 50)...on his first 18
@@desmoMarco91 i would’ve if he landed cleaner without hands but 49 is definitely something i’d give that with that specific landing
@@desmoMarco91 i'd say marcus's runs were reasonable
honestly, dusty's frontflip was sick.
34:12
so many 18s jeeeeeeez, quad is the new triple now i guess
quad means 4 full rotations, 1800 is 5 full rotations
edit. sorry, I guess u meant that they're doing quadruple corks, meaning that they're doing 4 flips
@@CrossmoorMafia Don't be sorry. He needed to specify, This was a learning moment.
@@wewhoareabouttodiesaluteyo9303 you are unintentionally mad condescending fella
@@CrossmoorMafia quad 18 is 4 flips and 5 full rotations, it’s both that’s why it’s called corks
@@davidscb3632 I know, but u can do a quad without 18, that's why the original comment is confusing
Thanks for the full broadcast
X games Norway Marcus Kelevland lands that 1980 he attempted. It’s gonna be wild
I hope so but often the jump in Norway isn't as good as the one in Aspen
Is markus really from norway?
@@alexandraburkhardt725 He's from fu🅱ing Asgard
no x games in norway this year.
@@alexandraburkhardt725 Yeah
Snowboarding has progressed so much. I remember watching the earlier days of winter X and thinking "this is crazy, how will they ever top this". Everyone is SSX video game status these days. Absolutely nuts.
Seeing the best trick of the night (8:58) get scored a 14 as Yuki remains all smiles is both inspiring and soul crushing.
This has to be THE best big air in xgames history
RUN 1
5:00 MONS
5:53 CHRIS
8:00 RENE
8:55 YUKI
10:15 MARCUS
11:04 DUSTY
11:55 TAKERU
12:37 SVEN
kinda feel like marcus should've had 3 gold this weekend :) Dusty did do well tho
I feel like he was definitely robbed a bit in slopestyle at least
they always rob marcus and i hate them for it
No he didn’t. You’re stupid
@@DuncanWilliamsOFFICIAL duncan it’s okay man just breathe
He got robbed in knuckle huck IMO
All those 18s and quads but that back triple 16 from yuki was one of the most stylish spins I’ve ever seen
"I'm soorry you just don't have I have it" such a Canadian moment
I could watch this just for the commentating, give them a raise!
they gotta make the jump bigger next year, its just not enough for some of these guys
Yeah hard to imagine why they keep building smaller jumps. Especially when the only thing they score well are style free widget spinner tricks
They will be sending quints
Style free? Idk those were pretty stylish to me. I mean not like tweaked out or long grabs or whatever. But you do that many spins and land that clean, it's going to look sick.
that was insane, they popped off
nah but deadass tho
The announcers on this are fantastic.
They’re unbelievable
I love that I have problems doing board slides, and their doing 1800
Lol felt that 😂
i can do a 360
Fantastic. Best Big Air in years. Well judged and well deserved (although I think Corning's tail grabs were a bit underscored).
Corning's Tailgrabs looks soo good and I really like them because they look different then the rest, but he always releases then quite early and that's probably the reason why they aren't scored that good
@@Nick-eu5lr @jrbaconcheez what Ive heard (and agree on) most pro sees his tailgrabs as a big no-no (like grabbing tindy), since its very ballerinalike nature. Grabbing it like Mons Roisland on the other hand, is very appreciated.
@@Nick-eu5lr Those Ballerina tailgrabs are a big ol No-No stylewise. But if you like them, why not..
I feel like we need more Halldor Helgasons in those events, so that it will become more of a style competition rather than just who can make the most rotations.
he´s just not that into this, understandably
I would like a comp where 900 is max. It would make it more about style than who can spin the most... This is impressing dont get me wrong but in my books slow back 180 is one of the coolest tricks =)
@@jeppej4265 Vans does the Hi-Standard event for this. Max spin is a 720, and no repeat tricks. But X Games is about progression tbf
@@Hinahou Thanks for the tip, I need to check that! Yeah, I understand the progression part and I'm enjoying this as well. At some point the more spinn/flips thing is just getting repetitive. I really enjoy the knuckle huck bringing the style part into the games as new addition.
@@jeppej4265 i understand why you would say that but that would probably slow down progression in snowboarding. Part of why snowboarding is so cool to me is that they always push themselves and each other. Im sure everyone where stoked to join the 18's club that night.
I thought Yuki would have brought out the bs quad 1980. We know he has it but I guess he was not feelin it.
Does anyone know the name of the song that starts playing at 47:58?
oh dude ! I want it so bad too !
Quake Matthews - 50,000 Reasons
What a way to cap off the weekend! Insane Superpipe contest, and a Huckfest of Big Air with Quad's and 1800s left and right. Def didn't disappoint this year
Low key, there should be the alt-Big Air with a max spin limit at 900. Style rather than huck wins.
Shoutout to the follow-cam dude.
Gimbalgod is the filmer. He shoots for Stale Sandbeck on Stale's TH-cam channel. Great stuff on his channel
@@danielson9339 stale for one but other guys too like rene and a bunch of other riders. Arguably the best filmed in the game
With progression every year they need to bring the $ booter back 10-15 feet and raise the angle of launch, these guys are maxing out this beast of a section!!
Wow! This 4K Steep gameplay is super realistic!
Has to be one of the best XGames Big Air events I have seen in quite a long time. These riders threw down some MASSIVE runs. Quad 18s like they're out of style.
🙌🙌
these guys all popped off. you love to see it
Mons does switch 1620 and corning does switch 1800 and both get a 45? Seems rough on Chris
I think his 1800 was too hardcore spin to win (the grab and rotating). It was really sick but a bit like ballerina. Just my opinion.
You have to count style as well, Chris 1800 was sick, but little less stylish with that tailgrab
Yeah fair enough, I just feel bad for the guy haha!
Chris’s grab style is trash, that’s why.
haha rene just wanted to join the 18 club
He's been riding with taped shoulder and popping burana whole comp. Impressing to even try in my books when he hasnt been able to train in last few weeks.
@@jeppej4265 it's called "sisu", google it😉
Rene has never really been the best big air guy. What makes him so great is his creativity and energy on the slope course.
@@CrossmoorMafia Don't have to, greetings from Finland 😉
@@jeppej4265 aaah no ei muuta ku torille sitte
BIG sends through the whole comp!!! Amazing!!
""...my brain has never worked this hard in my life."" NOW. You KNOW that phrase has NEVER been uttered before until then!!!😆🤣
Sven is soo nice!
30:55 anyone know the name of the deck
Never summer proto ultra
ft frontside quad 1800. Then tries a cab quad 1800. ppl be crazy
front quad 18, NBD, thats fire
To think Markus Cleveland was the first to land a quad cork 1800 in an X games big air event 4 years ago and this was his first gold still baffles me.
What time is it ..... it’s 18.00 o’clock ......
What is the outro song called? Starting 47:57
"50,000 Reasons" by Quake Matthews
This is so cool!
TAKE ME BACK TO THE 1800'S W THESE TRICKS
The 360 was clean 👌
Hey does anyone know what the song is at the end. Would love to add it to the snowboard playlist.
Supp guys, anyone knows the name of the song at the end?
Which snowboard is Takeru riding in this competition? Someone else had the same one in knuckle huck and the design is sick
That was insane
What is the name of the song at the end of the video?
What is the name of the song playing in the beginning????
Most enjoyable big air I’ve ever seen
Watching Tortein throwing the first triple cork back then somehow was narlyer than those 1800s.
This was nuts
im trying to get to the xgames SNOWBOARDING IS LIFE
Hey hey, Big Air Podium going completely to the Euros... 😉 Congrats from good old G! Crazy spins and rotations, from where did these guys got the abilitiy to still now after 5 rotations were they are...?
First run start 5:00
Enjoy :)
Шикарно
Nice work
Unbelievable
Thank you
Someone tell me why red Gerard isn’t in this
He usually does slope style
anyone else getting an absurd amount of ads?
what did otsuka try to do?
Quad
Oo, they put this back up, a little controversial with Takeru's injuries. Very tough comp.
that hard to upload in at least 1080?
Billy’s quad predates this by several years
Gracias
Sooooooooooo impressive. Cheers gentlemen. Thank you sooooooooooo much.......I ll be eternally respectfull about all those physical and mental engagements. Peace. 😇😇❤❤
next year is the year of the quint or the 2060 😳
2160**
@@scottyharrisonn my brain cant comprehend numbers that high cut me some slack lol
Quad 1980s will be on the regular next year
Or triples Japan or double grabs would be sick
@@davidscb3632 true, i wanna see triples with dub grabs or maybe a quad 18 holy crail 😳😳
Corning’s cab 18 was better than a 45. I think a 47 would have been accurate.
Dudes filming those follow cam angles kinda blows my mind a bit
These are tricks I do in steep , wow insane it’s like steep but real life lol
not a fan of cornings style but that 45 was robbery compared to what the others were getting for their 18s
Flat 18s are easier than corked 18s. That’s why Marcus had higher scores, plus the indie grab, just more height, style and smoothness.
@@23JMRH honestly man I get what your say but I believe a flat 1800 is harder because of how fast your spinning which makes it harder to land.
@@ausstn879 agreed
seeing no crowd is sad
So I guess Dusty just wasn't down to end his career early tossing quads late at night after he just had a contest in the morning
Real mystery
The dude is considered a child in his country. Give him 2 years and he will be throwing 18s no problem.
@@joush0vosman I mean he already has quads dude. He def can do an 1800
@@unlimitedgnar1955 while I have seen dusty throw a quad cork 1800 at the US Burton you forget that that was the First time he ever attempted it. So while yes he can do it he hasn’t practice the trick as much as Corning or Kleveland
5:00 first run
Jeesh, these camera guys are crazy these days too! 🤣
Shout out to the camera guys
So hard to get a fast spin that has lots of pop going frontside.
Takeru deserved a 50 for the quad 1800 any world first has to be a 50. Dont care that he dragged the hand its still the first one ever done
Whirling Dervish is a great term, wym
we’re going to need a bigger landing
45:03 man he just wanted a highfive
I remember playing snowboarding video games doing tricks like this. Spinning and flipping as much as the game would allow me. Now people are doing it for real.. bruh...
Front...Quad...1800... Took me a second to figure that one out.
Anyways those tricks are completely insane, big up to the guys hucking quad 1800s.
Every year at the end of X games competitions I ask how can it get any bigger? And it just does!!!
16:04
What’s up with dusty not trying in big air at all? Did he feel bad for Marcus?
I think it's that he has a quad backside 18, but nothing frontside or cab that can compete. So he's just taking it easy
Needs more commercials.
Why was D. Henricksen seemingly not trying?? I know he already had 2 Golds at this point, but what's the point of competing if you're not gonna go for the win in a particular event?
I was wondering the same thing
He probably knew he couldn’t compete with the quads and 18’s, so he decided to have fun with it
Dusty respects himself too much to do tricks with no style
Dusty has a quad but maybe he doesn’t have it dialed yet
Dusty has the quad 18 down pat. I think he was just having fun and completely satisfied with his two golds.
They were playing my guy corring
man Otsuka :( you gonna make me sad
20:38 Why did Kleveland get another 48 and Otsuka a 49 of 50 pts for run 2 when their hand touched ground to balance on landing? Crazy ridiculous tricks but I think they need more points deducted for hand stabilizing the landing. If same tricks get landed clean you need to be able to get more points but there is virtually no room for that now.
A never been done trick was landed, if he had a perfect landing, it would of been 50
@@AlexSheckells agreed, it was also finger tips, I don’t think he’d really need it if it was redone, it was a minor minor adjustment
@@AlexSheckells but what if marcus had then landed perfectly the quadruple 1980 or even switch back quadruple 1800?
@@CrossmoorMafia he’d get a 50
yeah, that's my point. those two tricks, especially any quadruple 1980, is objectively better trick than front quadruple 1800, so how does it make sense that they would both get the same score😄
Takerus frontside quad was insane but he really needed to just stop trying with that trick and throw something else, he is going to get himself hurt
lets not put a score for any discipline, BUT big air! This is how you kill X games
For all you skiers out there marcus did a 3240.
