It was the perfect response to John Lennon’s response to Paul McCartney’s song writing post the Beatles.
And yes the bass is soooo goood!

Yes! That was Sir James Paul McCartney on the bass, my friend. He was playing his Rickenbacker 4001s bass guitar. The same bass that he used on several Beatles classics, like "Lady Madonna", "Hey Bulldog", "You Wont See Me", "Lovely Rita", "Come Together", "Something", "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" among others. Paul is by far the greatest, smoothest, most inovative rock bassist in the past 65 years! Like I've always said about Macca, "In the universe of rock bass playing, Paul McCartney was the "Big Bang!"

Lennon thought that everyone needed to be taught a lesson. Paul McCartney wanted to make people happy and put a smile on their faces while he entertained them. Give me Silly Love Songs every day and twice on Sunday over some musician who thinks that I need to be preached to. This was McCartneys perfect response to what Lennon said about him.

I didn't really like anything Lennon did accept Imagine, and looking back that was a commie one world Gov. song.

Lennon had an opinion on his experience of being alive and what he thought might help. Paul had a different approach to the same thing in this song.
You have an opinion on them both. You are all entitled to express your views.

What a truly banal analysis of two great artists🙄

McCartney was the greatest musician of his generation, a modern-day Mozart. He has not been matched.

This was the biggest song of the year in which it was released.....sometime in the mid 70's. Big hit. And yes, love that bass too.

John and Paul didn't really talk to each other after the Beatles except through their music sometimes once John said in response to something Paul said , then John said " all you write is silly little love songs" and Paul responded with this tune! I'm sure it was mostly about Linda of course but I think that he was also saying to John I love you

I always preferred Wings over the Beatles. His wife was in the band, she met him as a reporter for the Rolling Stone Mag. He adopted her oldest daughter and they had two more, she died from cancer (lung cancer I think) and was seen smoking in the video, please do not smoke. The media mocked him for putting his wife in the band but I always loved her voice, she's the back up female singer singing here.

@@lyna4873 That's why I said I THINK on the cancer, but breast cancer spreads to other areas, just having breast cancer cant kill you unless it spreads and gets in other areas, in your lymph-nodes or in the blood etc. but its still called breast cancer. Its still bad to smoke and can cause cancer elsewhere also. I smoked from 9 yrs old until I was 25 (now 60) and I started running and in 3 months II spit up so much black tar looking stuff it would scare anyone to have seen it, so its a very bad dirty habit.
As per the kids I knew he had a son named James, but I am pretty sure he's not in the video, while his adopted daughter and two girls were there.
