@@caoimhedoesstuff9293 that’s not true, there’s a difference between being a good sales person who respects and values their customers verses being a pushy sales person to doesn’t care if they’re pressuring their customers to make unwanted purchases. Vendors who respect their customers and offers details when there’s a clear interest in their product are a lot more likely to get repeat customers who are happy to support their business. Idk about you, but when a vendor pressures me into buying something that I really didn’t want, I leave with a sour taste in my mouth and I will NEVER stop by their booth again. Why would you want customers who don’t actually like or want your product? It’s just going to invoke a negative experience and put them off from wanting to support your business in the future. That’s not what I want as a vendor, I want to make my customers happy and hopefully even have repeat customers who want to support my business because they genuinely like me and my products🤷♀️
I absolutely love the artist alley at cons but I’m very socially anxious and the awkward starers scare me, my favourite type of vendors are the ones who just talk to you about something really random as you look at their stuff without trying sell you things because they’re always so nice (complimenting my cosplay, talking about other cool cosplays they’ve seen, recommending other vendors, and even if they are like talking abt their art in a non “I WILL sell you this” way and more of an informative “this is what this is, cool fact about it” way)
I once went a an Italian festival, and someone was selling crocheted bunny plushies, and some other different animals. She was crocheting while she was selling the plushies. She was an amazing person :3

@@WhimsicalCrocheti’d recommend crocheting during event because not only can you get a head start on making stock but potential customers may see your process and i’ve done some events and people have come up and watched me crochet so it could bring in more people to see your booth

I usually have a crochet project to work on while I sell, that way I look at the project but see them in my periferal if they need anything, they get to browse in peace, and it's a good icebreaker! 😊
I went to this 3 day convention and the first being Friday, an actual weekday. It was blissfully spacious with no crowds and enough room to just stand and chat with the booth vendors. It was lovely. I get to squish their plushies, compliment their merchs and talking about the topics we know
I’m the 4th type who says hi, starts a long conversation completely unrelated to anything I’m selling, and ends up making more instagram friends than sales. 😂
I love the ones who crochet while sitting behind the stalls, it's relaxing to watch and also I can have proof she's the actual maker of those plushes 😂
When I was around 11 I would go to the market with my aunt and I would use my "marketing" skills 2 sell stuff but they all just thought I was cute so we sold a lot of stuff that day 😂
I am going to save this for inspiration. It is a goal of mine to sell my crochet at a booth one day. I designed and opened a website but had to close after 3 months with no sales. Also I find it difficult to find patterns that sell for a decent price vs time spent making the product.
As much as i hate pestering people to look and buy my stuff, i'm a big advocate of turning into annoying sales person. Gotta be proud of your own art especially if the line of the booth nextdoor is covering my booth, a least they can do is look at my stuff if they 're going to line up infront of my booth that i paid for.
