If you watch Soten No Ken, the style that the guy is using is actually called Hokuto Sokkaken, it's a derivative of Hokuto Shin Ken but it's not as powerful. There is also another derivative called Hokuto Sonkaken which specialises in ki manipulation.

I haven't seen this but Ken won't kill someone who isn't trying to kill him or have malevolence in their heart. Based on what Husseindss said I suspect that they weren't trying to kill him, but simply stop him so he saw no reason to kill them as well.

Basta guardare i disegni per capire che non stiamo parlando di un Cartone degli anni 80.. è una miniserie in 3 episodi uscita nel 2004 (circa) sempre come protagonista Kenshiro, che si colloca subito dopo la serie originale (un sequel).

And karate is the art where the "perfect form" you can do when there aren't opponents, is the most useless in a real combat. Perhaps animators were thinking. "Kenshiro is so cool that he uses perfect japanese forms directly from the book in a real situation." But here the fact Kenshiro switch the positions without protect his own jaw or liver (he already know his punch will connect and that there will be no retaliation, because he's cool.) make him look like he has never sparred but he was lucky that those monks know even less.
