    Hey guys! I'll come back to the other comments later but I've come to report that the green i used is actually just "green" from the white nights palette. The other colors are Chinese orange, carmine and English red

    It's magical seeing how controlled you are with the brush! Even when it seems heavily pigmented when you dot the colors on they instantly become blended with a few strokes

    For me, the quality and type of paper are definitely more important than the watercolor paint. The texture and thickness of the paper affects my mood in the washes I make.

    It’s very beautiful. And also I think that it’s important to choose the paper for watercolor painting. Normally I use cold press but sometimes hot press is more useful to paint the portrait. Thank you for sharing your great artwork. 💕

    The painted quality has a lot to do with the mood we're in, even more than the mood we want to impart to the viewer. I like how the artist chose to emphasize value and texture. The element value describes the lightness or darkness of a color. It's really cool to see how the artist controlled the brush stroke.

    Much of what you say is most critical when effects must be achieved with the least amount of trouble. Paper choice, and quality paints are of prime importance with just one's brushes left to bridge the gap created by the techniques we all employ. Certainly the use of agents or translators are most helpful; cotton buds, small bits of natural sea sponge, only damp detail brushes to lift mergings and overly saturated area's. More mechanical means are often very helpful, as a stylus drawn thru still wet areas can lend texture or small details that would later create extra work for the painter. Many also use Gum Arabic to create more control in confined areas, improving flow, and heightening the color some. It is a wonderful painting my friend. Thank you for sharing your immense talents with us all.

    • @Oozaru85
      @Oozaru85 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Was wondering about the watercolors, too. Tho by the looks of it, I'd guess it's the White Nights by Nevskaya Palitra. It looks alot like their old 36 colors palette. They have a new one now, since not all of the colors in the old palette were lightfast, and since these are artist grade paints, people wanted to only have lightfast colors in it, so Nevskaya delivered and released their new 35 palette with only lightfast colors in it.
      But yeah, I'm quite sure in this video she uses their old 36 color palette.

    I m planning to order Baohong cold press myself to use gouache on it. I want to use it for like abit-bigger-than-medium pieces like 8×10". I've seen you used it for small pieces.

    • @hambot
      @hambot 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Kay, i myself don't like using it for gouache because i think the texture really makes it hard to get smooth paint strokes on it. I think the hot pressed one would work better for finer details

    I know practice makes perfect. I wish my colors could blend and be in control like this. Nice work as usual, HamRib Art! What would you consider bad paper?

  • @lemonyleon
    @lemonyleon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Apparently papers can expire. Expired watercolour paper will make your watercolour patchy and harder to blend. It takes a few years but apparently it does expire. Also, there's a difference between cellulose(wood pulp) and cotton paper. The colours are harder to blend on cellulose and leaves a sharp edge most of the time.
