The wood looks similar to osage orange or hedge apple, whatever you want to call it. It's extremely dense and hard but beautiful.

It's a nice piece, but it must have been a chore to ensure that all of those holes that you put in it were coated properly. Imagine what a single wood borer would do if it found a way into your piece through an uncoated surface? That would mean you'd have to be wary of getting more holes than you started with! 😂🤪👍👍
