The bottom portion of tuningfork is making noise when you placed it on the plane of sonometer.place the tuningfork slowly in such a way that it wouldn't produce any noise on placing it on the plane of sonometer.If you do like as you did in this experiment , it would be a wrongone since the sound of tuningfork fork on the plane of sonometer produces a frequency.
