Secret to be a good basketball player, you just have to be tall. Secret to be a good songwriter, just borrow (or steal if you prefer) from other songs because every melody phrase that works sonically was already discovered and used by others. Take one borrowed short phrase and combine it with another borrowed phrase and voila. You have a melody that consists of two short phrases that are already proven on the market. Only caveat is you have do disguise it well to avoid legal disputes. I am 99% sure that every one of those hits was 'inspired' by some other song melody phrase. Which doesn't make those guys less capable, that is not an easy task to acomplish.
Copy from one source, you are a plagiarist. Copy from one hundred sources, you are a researcher. Copy from one hundred sources after reading thousands and thousands of other sources, you are a serious researcher.
That's not a truism. It could have been the case that you could write good songs just by applying some technique, even without any particular love for music.

Trigga Happy since when does formula equal hating music. This takes talent, this takes time and effort. You don’t have to be a junkie punk rock singer to love music

@@Zack_S37 Everyone copies from another. The key is you have to copy from the right people. A lot of right people.
His singing voice sound like he is in his 20s 😱
apparently the secret is that, "you have to love it and have a talent for it."
so, no big secret at all then...
The secrets he told you are "heritage and tradition" (and he added "obviously") Right then, I've got a bit of that so I'm off to write me some hits!
The sarcasm is strong with this one.. 😂
Simpel songs is it😉
Jeez I knew I'd heard that song before but I couldn't put my finger on who. I haven't heard this song since 2001 when I was a child, truly amazing.
Clickbait title. He showed off his songs and ended off with saying "you have to love music". What a truism.
Mike Klein I'm from Sweden and I've heard a lot songwriters say, that you have to love music more than celebrity
Mike Klein How to drive a car ? "You just gotta feel the road my man..." - Owen Wilson
Why a truism..?
That's not a truism. It could have been the case that you could write good songs just by applying some technique, even without any particular love for music.
Nice post! 👊🏻

What a secret!
Wow.. the late 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's had Cole Porter.
I mean he would just be disgusted with this crap.

Perfect trash.
This guy hates music...just a formula...not true raw composition....
right

Show me the songs you wrote then, and we'll how truly raw they are
There is no ''formula'' for hit music.
I love the idea that’s it’s “just a formula”. He has made millions, he wouldn’t if it was as easy as following a formula.
