Ive always wanted to tell you this but right now fallout 1 is currently my favorite of your series. Mostly because I never am able to "watch" your videos. I listen to your videos while I'm at work and it's so nice to hear you describe the things I cant see in detail :)
My six year old son said are you playing fallout that is my favorite movie. So you have a fan with and him. Thanks for speaking in an great family tone.
This is how I discovered Ox's channel a few years back, my son told me "mom, this is a good one!" and we have been watching each episode together ever since!
Apparently, the devs intended for "The Glow" to look very much like how Glowing Sea looks like in Fallout 4...that is, a dead, irradiated hellhole full of horrors and mutants. But engine limitations of the time prevented them from doing so.
He's probably gonna do it later in the game considering that's where the water chip is. But it could be tommorows episode cause he said in scotch and smoke rings that he was trying to record necropolis.
I’m someone who really enjoys watching people play video games, but for the most parts doesn’t play myself (combat makes me anxious and I’m also just not great at it!), but I LOVE seeing storytelling play out (hehehe) through a game. This series and your other lore videos scratch that brain itch PERFECTLY. Longer form videos, with excellent voice acting and narration? Absolutely. Detailed and very well put together story walkthroughs? Also YES. I’m not really sure where I’m going with this, but I really appreciate you and these videos. Please keep it up!
Decker's voice sounds familiar. Edit: It's David Keith, he is the voice of Flame King from Adventure Time and Atlas from Teen Titans. He's an awesome voice actor.
More than that. His credits include Halo, Modern Warfare 2, Mass Effect, Saints Row 4, and he's acted in films too. Edit: lol, the character Keith David voices in Saints Row is literally Keith David too.
I love the voice of the guy who voiced Decker. I looked him up and he was the voice of Goliath from Disney's 'Gargoyles' show back in the '90's. That's probably my favorite Disney show ever, or at least one of them. Wish they'd kept it going.
17:38 Very subtle, black isle. Barter street and Thunder avenue? that's just one out of the hundreds of Mad Max references in this game, I swear. Could be a coincidence, but i really don't think so.
While sneaking in at Hightower you want to wait a little behind the south corner of the building to see that the guard at the door is patrolling. So while he is up chatting with his buddy you simply waltz in whatever your sneak skill is. All time greatest narration of a play trough of any game.
Hey Ox! Just wanted to say I love your content, your soothing voice and calm disposition really helps me out with my depression: having a kind voice to listen to makes me feel great. Been watching your content since your old WoW videos, and haven’t stopped watching since. You’re an inspiring man :)
I love your Fallout videos anyway but this one was extra special because I've just realised that Killian Darkwater is Macguyver and High Priestess Jain is Mom from Futurama and it's all thanks to you and your fantastic ability to keep me interested in the earlier games i probably would've never played :D
So FO 1, which Bethesda had nothing to do with, actually had a Theives Guild of sorts? And Bethesda FO games don't? I feel ripped off. (Even if it is one quest)
Cullen Seago You mean those “Vampires” when you take the quest in Arefu? They feel more like the dark brotherhood… though fallout already has a brotherhood…
dude i noticed that too! i was like dammit bethesda, reusing quest ideas and than i was just like wait... nvm, this is fallout 1 not 3. this must be hands down the best anime crossover lmao
No I don't mean the vampires they live in the train tunnels and I would have said that. You can find a thieves guild headquarters under some rubble. Near the rileys rangers hideout however its merely a reference you don't get a questline or anything. It's like an Easter egg.
Ox, I know it's 6 years old but this series is incredible. Your tone sets so much atmosphere for the post-apocalyptic wasteland. Thank you for your effort!!!!
I find all of your videos extremely interesting, as a fallout fan I love your content, but what I enjoy more is the role playing aspect that you put into it, your great tone and how in depth you get when exploring, it's great, keep up the good work Ox!
Thank you for getting me into Fallout, Oxhorn, my friend recommended you and your videos, they're so well done and your explanation on the Fallout universe is just amazing. So thank you
I was able to sneak past the guards with a 80+ sneak skill I believe. I activate combat mode to make everyone stop moving ( so long as I'm undetected) and end combat mode to resume their normal walking patterns. Doing so I walked in and out undetected.
"Ten thousand up front Ten thousand when I'm through And I know just what to do And you know I'll do it too Then I'm coming back for you Back for you Killing Is my business And business is good" Had this in my head whenever someone in The Hub says "so-many caps up front, so-many when the jobs done"
Keith David singlehandedly elevates any story he voice acts in. Decker is such a minor character in the grand scheme of Fallout but he instantly becomes extremely interesting when Keith David voices him.
A lot of the male characters like Butch, Decker, and Jacoren have similar talking heads. They used clay models to make the characters and then turned them into 3D models, so they likely just used the same base head and changed the haircuts or for Decker gave him a piercing and called it a day. Understandable given how hard it is to make clay modelsz
hey ox if you ever have the time could you possibly make more character builds of your own like you did with the Metal General? It be interesting to see what builds and personalities you can come up with
Fallout 1 and 2 were specifically designed to play differently depending on your build. They have immense replay value that way. Playing as a low Intelligence character makes for a completely different game, as does a high Charisma character, especially a female in the second game.
I played this game back in the late 90's when I was barely a teen. I thought this was the stupidest idea, these videos, when I first found this channel, but I watch them at lunch most days, it's a narrated tv show and addictive somehow. Good way to kill time.
10:09 I was thinking for ages about this, then when he said this I finally managed to place it. Loxely in Fallout 1 is the same voice actor for Xan in Baldur's Gate!
Wow I love this Laxley fella, we need more of these kinds of characters in modern Fallouts! Great job on this Fallout 1 storytelling, Oxhorn! I get bored so quickly after playing this, takes quite some time to get used to it.
When I found out that INT actually changed the experience I made a new playthrough and wasn't disappointed XD Made a low INT melee char, the vault head jock of sorts a la Moose from Archie Comics :P
Yeah that is always a fun character to make I call it Dumb Luck Strategy: Take of all intelligence points and pour it all on to luck. The crazy nonsense you'll find yourself in.
Goatariuos I like the name, however it would more appropriate for character of low Intelligence and high Charisma stats... With being said, I got to try it out now.
undeadgentlemen[_}; Hey, you think the same rule can be applied to later fallout games like 3 or NV? Or were y’all talking about the franchise as a whole instead of FO1?
Man, the paucity of quests for The Thieves' Circle and The Underground drives home the rushed reality of the game. These groups should have at least three quests each, considering how well positioned they are in their world.
Keith David is up there with Morgan Freeman when it comes to voices. They both read most anything and I would listen. Loving this series. I honestly don’t want to go through all the bother to get this to run, so again I’m glad to have you as an alternative. On to the next one.
13:36 "Have you ever danced with the devil in the pale moonlight?" bottom left corner if screen I love all the little references they put in this game.
Nairwit The Strategist me too. just cleared out vault 15 for the NCR. travel with marcus, he's the strongest, just dont take him to those bigots in vault city.
As I recall, you can sneak in to get the necklace without killing any guards. All you have to do is gain access to the house during the day, find a nice, secluded little corner, and wait until night - skill books are useful for this. Grab the necklace, wait until day again, and leave.
I grew up in a little town in Southern California that is probably the location of The Hub. Every time I hear Bakersfield described as a "metropolis", it brings a chuckle. My cousin lives just off the Fallout 3 map south of the Pentagon. Been to Las Vegas more than once - had a root beer at the counter of the Pioneer Saloon (real world Prospector Saloon), won $14 on a slot machine at Whiskey Pete's (the irl Vicki and Vance). Ate a lobster roll at a little place on the end of the pier at Bar Harbor. Now I'm living like 15 miles away from part of the setting for Fallout 76 (really hoping for a DLC about med-x junkies set in my current home town!) and I can't wait for Oxhorn to be talking about Camden Park and downtown Huntington. And Oxhorn, be on the lookout for a ruined strip bar outside of Huntington, WV in Fallout 76. I had both my bachelor's party and my divorce party there. I'm not sure a nuclear war would make the establishment worse.
Yo Ox when you meet my girl Katja you treat her good ok? Otherwise you and me might have a few words... Lol also can't wait till fallout 2 when you meet Miria ”stay here, ” says the chosen one, ”no baby I want to stay with you!” says Miria lolol I always had to reload when she died she was so Ernest and clingy and even when there was no way for her to help she would still step in front of your character and attempt to protect you now that's dedication.
Being the antihero I was in my first playthrough, I scoffed at Jake after I saw the price of the sniper rifle, then proceeded to walk across the street and shoot Vance and his goons in the face. There ya go, Jake: 15 Radaway. Don't ask where I got it.
The Hub building you tried to enter after the thieves circle with the tough combat: it's a quest you get later from the BoS, to free their compatriot. He's being held in a locked room in the back of that building.
Ive always wanted to tell you this but right now fallout 1 is currently my favorite of your series. Mostly because I never am able to "watch" your videos. I listen to your videos while I'm at work and it's so nice to hear you describe the things I cant see in detail :)
hey me too!
yeah i love how he describes it,im in the same boat i always listen to the videos and glance at the screen every once in a while
me too. ox has a real "story teller" voice.
I do the same thing, I listen during my commute and while I do chores. I save the mod musters for when I can actually watch, as a treat!
Me too! I listen during chores, chauffeuring my kids around, etc. I save the mod musters for when I can actually watch!
The smooth velvety voice of Kieth David. I'd know that voice anywhere.
inkblotCrisis second I heard that voice I came here to look for this comment, am not disappointed 👍
A true legend
@@spacehound4528 lol I left a comment up above as soon as Decker opened his mouth hahaha
Randy Orton's Dick Bulge he's a voice acting god 🙌
@@spacehound4528 yes, he is also arbiter Julius little, the army strong guy and many more.

Fallout - A Family Videogame.

@@thefalloutwiki That is so cool.

Well, literally everyone you have guarding the place, that's who.
Apparently, the devs intended for "The Glow" to look very much like how Glowing Sea looks like in Fallout 4...that is, a dead, irradiated hellhole full of horrors and mutants. But engine limitations of the time prevented them from doing so.
Imagine the same graphic engine with what we can do now.....I mean cosmic ventures on & off planet, moon, asteroid & such alike. 🤹
Terrifying.
Can’t wait for Oxhorn to do a video on Necropolis. One of the coolest places in Fallout with such a creepy atmosphere!
Eh
He's probably gonna do it later in the game considering that's where the water chip is. But it could be tommorows episode cause he said in scotch and smoke rings that he was trying to record necropolis.
My home town.
Whoa.... Decker is voice acted by Keith David, that’s so cool!
Very cool... Not sure if Capt. Anderson or the Arbiter inspires more nostalgia when I hear that voice.
@Februar is Short sgt.foley in mw2
@Miguel Gudino jules in SR1
It's cool to know that I'm voiced by someone famous
Aradesh is Tony Shalhoub and Killian Darkwater is Richard Dean Anderson

Loxly has some amazing dialogue and deliveries, just what you'd expect from Jeff Bennett
I feel like the way fallout handles its story allows you to really flex those storytelling skills, and it shows. Great as always!
Isnt this fallout 1?
Oops
When he said "Skags" I immediately thought of Borderlands...
get out.
I think of trainspotting(skag means heroin)
I too thought of Skag-Trendy.
Same immediately remembering playing bl1 and 2. pre sequel has no skags tho
Same XD
The elder at the Cathedral sounds a lot like Mom from Futurama 🤔🤔🤔🤔
Yes! It's Tress MacNeille :P This game has some seriously good voice acting.
Yeah amd Keith David is Decker.
Rebel you robot b@stards!
And I've heard Loxley's voice a lot of places too.
When she first spoke my head shot up at the screen and I just went MOM!!!!

Keith David. Most known today as the voice of the Arbiter.
... Did we forget about Spawn? Lol
i love Keith David's voice - the Morgan Freeman of video games.
I find the cuts to the death narration quite hilarious. I know it's coming, but it still gets me every time
I find it even harder to take seriously after ron Perlman's deranged tweets.
Man, F1 had way more talking heads that I remembered. There's plenty of stuff I missed when I played the game as a teen, I should probably replay it.
Wow the voice over for Decker has voiced in just about every game in ever played lol loving the series ox keep up the great work
Keith David
17:38 Very subtle, black isle. Barter street and Thunder avenue? that's just one out of the hundreds of Mad Max references in this game, I swear. Could be a coincidence, but i really don't think so.
I am astonished they got a South Park joke into the game considering the timing.
I was thinking the same thing. The game was released just a couple of months after the first episode aired.
The Cheezy Poofs food item might count as second joke.

A game over 20+ years old is more detailed and complex mechanics wise than modern fallout and most games nowadays... Its a maaaaad world
Thats because newer games focus on graphics and easy to grasp mechanics
Which is lame and kinda compromises whatever heart a game can have

Keith David is amazing. I could listen to him talk all day.
