It's great watching white people react to these movies. As a black young adult living in the South stuck in the middle of the teenage white girls and the middle aged to old black women who love them, I have an odd perspective. I feel like these movies started out okay and entertaining and gradually took a downward spiral.Having watched a majority of these movies since they started coming out when I was in middle school, Tyler Perry elicts sentimentality and affection and bored disgust all at once. I remember enjoying these as lazy Sunday afternoon movies up until I was about seventeen. After that I tuned them out and the older I got the more I shuddered when someone giddily announced they were going to the plays or movies and especially if they asked if I wanted to go. Medea movies are like that embarrassing once endearing family member that you've lost contact with.
Dude, this has turned into my sleeping audio. I put this video on, put my phone next to me and fall asleep to it. Something about it is very comforting to me and hearing Brad and Brian rant about this movie never gets old.
I have a confession to make. I watched Madea Boo Halloween. Not because I wanted to. Just to laugh my ass off, thinking of Brad in certain scenes and how miserable he was. Mmmmmmmm, one mans suffering is another mans cup of tea.
The black people I know mostly laugh AT Tyler Perry rather than with him. The only times I've ever seen his movies were when they played on cable. And even then, it's almost always Diary of a Mad Black Woman or Family Reunion. That's about it.
Naja-Michelle Innis those were the only two movies of his I saw in theater....mostly because he was new and in the case of the first one, because Shemar Moore from The Young and the Restless was in it. But the schtick wore thin really quickly.
***** Maybe I'm just really lucky to not know any black people who like Tyler Perry unironically. Every black person I know thinks he's annoying, homophobic, and incredibly misogynistic.
" 'Kubo' premiered at Melbourne International Film Festival and was released by Focus Features in the United States on August 19 to critical acclaim and grossed $77 million worldwide against a budget of $60 million. The film won the BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film and was nominated for the Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Visual Effects, becoming the second animated film ever to be nominated in the latter category following 1993's The Nightmare Before Christmas, and the first film to be nominated for both." (Wikipedia). While not achieving, perhaps, the financial success it should have, 'Kubo' could hardly be considered a box office bomb. It will probably surpass $100 million fairly soon, and will be remembered over time. It also won numerous prestigious awards; I doubt Tyler Perry can claim most of these things. He aimed for the lowest common denominator of an already heavily-diluted generation, reaped a shit ton of money, but, really, I wouldn't call him 'substantial' or successful by any other standard.
I'm honestly surprised the video didn't just end after Brad says "Anyway, fuck." at 0:20 I mean I'm HAPPY it continues on for another hour and a half, but that's all you need to say in this case, methinks.
I think it would've been a far better plot to have the daughter be a hardcore sorceress who decides to summon up a legion of killer clowns to distract the babysitter while she goes to a party. Doesn't that sound AWESOME?!
***** It'd be hard to believe they would skip it, considering they went through a lot of other faith-based crap, and I know Brad did reference its trailer on one of the Cinema Snob episodes. (Not sure which one, but it was a Pure Flix movie)
Congratulations to Dave and Sarah for having their little girl and condolences to Brian and Brad for seeing this. She's already saving her dad what a good baby. I have to go see Madea movies myself bc obligated and ugh.
TheTogo1500 Because they don't fit the demographic of "white teenage high school girls" that Madea appeals to as we learned from this informative video. Duh.
Oh God, I think the unintelligible "old" lady is the woman from Perry's "Love Thy Neighbor". Imagine an entire sitcom based around that character... the horror is real.
don't say that! i said it once and I was wrong by 3 minutes and Brad rightfully corrected me on it. it's just about the only time he ever responds to his fans as far as I can tell. so even if the car talking is 1:38:07 and the movie ends at 1:38:08, the movie is still longer and that's that.
I almost made a happy dance when I saw that this review was up. For some reason I'm so entertained when you guys review Tyler Perry movies. LOL BTW my best friend began watching Tyler Perry movies on Netflix a couple years ago and he LOVES the Medea films. When I told him Tyler Perry plays Medea, I swear to God, it was like telling a kid that Santa isn't real. He refused to believe me, verbalized his thought process, and then looked it up on Google. And then he called his boyfriend to "break the news". I love my best friend.
Holy shit! This year has just broken the record for longest Midnight Screenings time and time again. First it was the original champ (Left Behind) then Blair Witch then Taxi Driver and now the definitive 1 hour 28 minute 9 second champ. "Boo! Madea Halloween!"
YEP....AND??????????????? THE POINT IS LIKE I SAID. THESE GUYS ARE TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND. DON'T HAVE A CLUE. TYLER PERRY IS AN ICON AND ONE OF THE THINGS THAT IS TRUE ABOUT "MADEA"....SHE GREASES THE POT AND GET THE BILLS PAID WHILE PERRY WORS ON DRAMA.
So...basically this is another Madea-bait-trap film? (that is, you are sold a trailer that is all about Madea and the antics she gets into...her name is even in the title!!!...but you only get a fraction of the film devoted to Madea and the rest is "serious" drama?)
@26:00 you mean Tyler Perry overcompensates for his obvious closeted gayness by having women in all his movies talk about how "fine" he is? I'm shocked.
Surreal469 Why do you think he's gay? An actress originally played Madea when it was a stage show, Perry didn't do it until she couldn't make it one night, and the audience loved it. He does it for entertainment.
Billy Barnett not because he wears a dress on screen. so did countless other actors over the years. It's his mannerisms, his effeminate lisp, and the rumors of him from gay guys since before he got famous that continue to follow him.
MrClutch5150 Oh no, sorry, I was talking about Spoony when I mentioned the Patreon thing. Brad produces new content constantly, and I don't want to give the impression I don't appreciate everything he does :)
I think Linkara could improve a Tyler Perry movie. Let's get on that. Not that it would be enough to motivate me to sit through another fucking Tyler Perry movie!
the way this set up goes, wouldn't it have been more clever to essentially make Madea into a "slasher villain"? So the kids are sneaking around her trying to escape, but she's pulling all these slasher cliches that somehow work, and is actually something that resembles a Halloween themed comedy?
Inferno is the only wide release next weekend, meaning Ouija: Origin of Evil is going to be the only wide release horror film for halloween. Blair Witch could've been a hit if they'd moved it to the 28th. That Septmeber release date was an awful idea.
I'm a black atheist and I like Madea movies. My Grandmamma and Granddaddy got me watching. Granddaddy died earlier this year and I like to watch them and remember him cracking the fuck up :-)
I'll never understand the love for the Madea movies. I've never been able to sit thru the trailers let alone the movies... To each their own I guess...
Edgar Allan Poe Okay I have to say Ernest Saves Christmas is my favorite out of all the Ernest movies because it has the best Santa Claus in film ever.
I like how Brad has a look of wide eyed surprise the entire time they're talking about the audience. He saw it, Brian and Dave have told him about it, but he still can't really believe it lol.
I'm not a *huge* Madea fan, but I do enjoy some of the movies. But I also love Midnight Screenings and I enjoy seeing you guys have fun reviewing films. I enjoy hearing your opinions on these things.

Isn't there a famous quote about 'no one ever lost money by appealing to the masses of the plain people' or something? That said, I have enjoyed daft humour found in: Harold and Kumar, American Pie and Beverley Hills Cop. This Madea series just seems devoid of laughs and bereft of comic timing entirely, like a bad flash player cartoon drawn out to feature film length.
There goes Tyler Perry's winning streak from Gone Girl. I remember him saying that he spent half his time on set writing down stuff that Fincher and Affleck was saying, one would think it might be a little more competent of a film...
Best thing about the reviews for these movies is talking about the odd crowds. Also would love to see all of snobs grunts cropped together for this review xD
you can tell Brad is pissed when you hear his Snob voice come out
SO TRUE !!!
The minute I saw an ad for this movie on youtube, I just knew that the Midnight Screening for it was going to be GLORIOUS!
You guys do not disappoint.
It's great watching white people react to these movies. I'm honestly a bit concerned for Brad, he's got that shell-shocked PTSD sort of look... It's ok man, really. Just tell us where Madea touched you.
Show us on the doll, man. It’ll be okay. 😆
Every year I make a pilgrimage to this video
Dude, this has turned into my sleeping audio. I put this video on, put my phone next to me and fall asleep to it. Something about it is very comforting to me and hearing Brad and Brian rant about this movie never gets old.
Awesome, a 1h 28m Madea review, this is one for the midnight screenings junkies lol.
ZaneLovesMovies 333 Absol-fucking-utely, dude!
Ah Tyler Perry. Don't ever change. Not that I watch your movies, I just like seeing Brad suffer.
TCovenantUnbeliever Same here .
I have a confession to make. I watched Madea Boo Halloween.
Not because I wanted to. Just to laugh my ass off, thinking of Brad in certain scenes and how miserable he was.
Mmmmmmmm, one mans suffering is another mans cup of tea.

Y'all NEED to watch the Madea movies. They are the most wonderful hate watches I've ever had.
@@Greendalewitch So you're a sadist?
Tyler Perry's No Exit: Madea in Existential Hell.
^Underappreciated comment

I would watch the shit out of that movie! 😉
Congratulations Sarah and Dave!
also, the best midnight screenings are often the ones that are longer than the movie.
The black people I know mostly laugh AT Tyler Perry rather than with him. The only times I've ever seen his movies were when they played on cable. And even then, it's almost always Diary of a Mad Black Woman or Family Reunion. That's about it.

@ Angelisa Hassan Girl...okay.
This was a box office hit.
Kubo and the Two Strings bombed.
World, what the hell.
" 'Kubo' premiered at Melbourne International Film Festival and was released by Focus Features in the United States on August 19 to critical acclaim and grossed $77 million worldwide against a budget of $60 million. 88 minutes of pure joy for me. Thank you brad. This really does mean a lot :)
"Fuck." - Brad Jones, 2016. I want this one review on the back of the box when it comes out on DVD.
The saddest thing... man Perry can act - he was fucking great in Gone girl
He was the worst part of gone girl
There is an audience for these movies though, that's why he does them.
+Billy Barnett The audience for these movies are brain dead
KidSnivy69 Hey, I like these and am not brain dead.
he was barely in it. and basically played himself
This has a higher Rotten Tomatoes score than Suicide Squad.
The New York Times gave this a fresh review.
I don't even know anymore.
I'm honestly surprised the video didn't just end after Brad says "Anyway, fuck." at 0:20
I mean I'm HAPPY it continues on for another hour and a half, but that's all you need to say in this case, methinks.
For me the best Madea and Tyler Perry were in the boondocks
Work it twist work it twist
+Your Mom whip stir whip stir whip whip whip stir
Fer Zum they didn't put that episode on Netflix along with the shit kickers episode
ENOUGH! GODDAMIT ENOUGH! WHAT THE FUCK?!
April Fools day would be a good day for Madea.
Since God's Not Dead 2 was an instant April Fools classic.
Genin99 Tyler Perry's God's Not Black: A Medea Passover.
+homesponge go on...
+homesponge more like Tyler Perry's God IS Black: A madea passover

Meteorite Entertainment Yes
I think it would've been a far better plot to have the daughter be a hardcore sorceress who decides to summon up a legion of killer clowns to distract the babysitter while she goes to a party.
Doesn't that sound AWESOME?!
Wow, this movie broke you so hard that you made another movie about two grown ass men talking about A Madea Halloween.
If it was 15 minutes more, this Midnight Screening would be called Tyler Perry's Boo! A Madea Halloween 2 Cruise Control.
Or Boo! A Madea Halloween 2 Tyler Perry's Electric Boogaloo
Trystan McClellan I think we can all agree on which we'd rather see though
Dark6997 Yep.
Dark6997 yes
Even in 2022, This video is still hilarious.
I can't wait for the eventual video on that Pure Flix Columbine movie
Asha Marie Bednarski Me too :D
Did it come out already?
Came out Friday, October 21.
Oh shit, already?
***** It'd be hard to believe they would skip it, considering they went through a lot of other faith-based crap, and I know Brad did reference its trailer on one of the Cinema Snob episodes. (Not sure which one, but it was a Pure Flix movie)
And lo did Brad and Brian bring unto youtube the first feature length Midnight Screenings.
It was beautiful.
This review makes me happy. Thanks doodz. You made my day better.
I went to film school with a guy who was black and when Tyler Parry was brought up oh man he laid out how much he hated those movies.
Congratulations to Dave and Sarah for having their little girl and condolences to Brian and Brad for seeing this. She's already saving her dad what a good baby. I have to go see Madea movies myself bc obligated and ugh.
Tyler Perry is the black Adam Sandler and I just want him to go away.
Well they are the first men to win Worst Actress Razzies.
Oh, wow, I didn't even know that. Goddammit.
Or maybe Adam Sandler is the white Tyler Perry...
DrunkJackal Well which one started making bad movies first
Tyler Perry is way better than Sandler
Two white guys talk about a Tyler Perry movie for almost the length of the actual movie.
Holy fuck.
manband20 why's it gotta be bout color
ROTFLMAO yaaa we gotta trek hard through this one
TheTogo1500 Because they don't fit the demographic of "white teenage high school girls" that Madea appeals to as we learned from this informative video.
Duh.
And yet their review is still more entertaining than the fucking movie.
if this was an Adam Sandler movie would anybody care?
Dave had Sarah fake childbirth just so he could avoid Madea and probably "I Am Not Ashamed".
Just kidding. Congrats to the happy parents.
this is why I watch you guys, a heads up is what i always need.

+KEEPAWAY PRODUCTION I feel like Dave is always emotionally tired when watching these movies
This video is as long as The Lion King. That's how deep Madea movies are. You need a Disney movie's worth of time to analyze it all.
So your theater going experience for Madea's Haunted House was exactly like Chris Rock predicted in Top 5?
Top 5 was brilliant. I wish it had gotten more attention.
Oh God, I think the unintelligible "old" lady is the woman from Perry's "Love Thy Neighbor". Imagine an entire sitcom based around that character... the horror is real.
Oh, I always look forward to a Tyler Perry edition of Midnight Screenings.
If I found myself sitting next to The Brad Jones, I'd be beside myself. I could then die happy. Lol
an hour and 28 minutes, holy shit. also congrats to Dave!
this video is longer than the movie
No it's not actually :)
You _clearly_ didn't want to put in as much effort here as Tyler Perry did, so how am I supposed to enjoy this video?
Not with your head up your ass
Stoned Gremlin Productions sorry, i honestly couldn't imagine this kind of movie being longer than 70 minutes. i feel so bad for you two
don't say that! i said it once and I was wrong by 3 minutes and Brad rightfully corrected me on it. it's just about the only time he ever responds to his fans as far as I can tell. so even if the car talking is 1:38:07 and the movie ends at 1:38:08, the movie is still longer and that's that.

Thanks! I needed something while I cook and clean today. Sweet.
Brad looks so defeated in the thumbnail
Brad's face in the thumbnail says it all.
The thumbnail is a masterpiece of hilarity and so this review! Funny as hell!

Oh, no, my friend, the movie is almost a solid half hour longer than the review.

@26:00 you mean Tyler Perry overcompensates for his obvious closeted gayness by having women in all his movies talk about how "fine" he is? I'm shocked.
Dude, him and his wife had a baby
Billy Barnett ....because there's never been a gay guy with a wife or a kid. especially since artificial insemination was invented. lol
Surreal469 You ever heard of metrosexual?
Mulholland Drive also pulled off a good "it was all a dream" ending, by making the dream a crumbling shelter from Diane Selwick's horrific real life.
1h28min?
You guys are the best! :D o/
This long video reminds me of Spoony... What happened to him? :/
He realized that he can make over $1000 a month through Patreon without actually producing anything, so he hasn't bothered.
What does that have to do about the video being 1h 28m though? Also people want to support Brad cause he makes great content what's the problem here?
MrClutch5150 Oh no, sorry, I was talking about Spoony when I mentioned the Patreon thing. Brad produces new content constantly, and I don't want to give the impression I don't appreciate everything he does :)
Inkmonkeywoodis Ah apologies then that was my bad have a great day :)
I think Linkara could improve a Tyler Perry movie. Let's get on that. Not that it would be enough to motivate me to sit through another fucking Tyler Perry movie!
Holy shit I did not expect a video this long for this movie.
The fact that this vid is about 40 minutes short of the actual film and it may be more entertaining just makes me more excited
"walks up with his potato body" lol fuckin hilarious
Playing a second time. Because there's too much stupid in a Tyler Perry review to comprehend in just one listen.
the way this set up goes, wouldn't it have been more clever to essentially make Madea into a "slasher villain"? So the kids are sneaking around her trying to escape, but she's pulling all these slasher cliches that somehow work, and is actually something that resembles a Halloween themed comedy?

Max Nobel well I still think the conjuring 2 should have came out in October or near that month but no it comes out in June of all months
The Conjuring 2 still made 320 million worldwide against a 40 million budget, so June worked out pretty well for them.
Stoned Gremlin Productions very true
Max Nobel considering the reception to Blair Witch I think maybe it would have done okay this weekend but it still would have bombed out by week 2.

Holy Shit. 1h28mim I think this is the longest running time.
they had a lot of things to talk about.
Madea movies have a lot of annoying characters, asinine scenes, incompetent film making and twisted morals.

"I got yo ass for two weeks!", twist is Tyler Perry is actually talking to the audience
I rather watch Ernest movies than Medda movies.
you know what makes the earnest movies work? they are funny.
The Ernest movies were funny though
Alex Hartsell Ernest Saves Christmas is actually kinda funny. Guilty pleasure tho.
Edgar Allan Poe Okay I have to say Ernest Saves Christmas is my favorite out of all the Ernest movies because it has the best Santa Claus in film ever.
Alex Hartsell True, I can't remember the actor's name, he voiced the Sultan in Disney's Aladdin.
