First, thank you for the shout-out. You should know that there is no mandatory order in that list, it includes the most successful performances of the band, and the recordings have a good audio-video quality. Often, however, the fans have more appropriate suggestions in the comments, so please don't ignore them.
You noticed very well at the end, that their music, even after a decade and behind a screen, carries with it an intensely optimistic energy. And yes, it is felt in the chest, where it "dissolves" the pain and lets you breathe deeply. This energy helped me years ago to overcome difficult moments in life, when the state of tension effectively suffocated me. I'm not a unique case among Nightwish fans, I've heard this in various forms over the years.
Likewise, the lyrics, mainly composed by Tuomas, are always significant and often poetic, full of metaphors. Many reactors limit themselves to image and sound, leaving with an incomplete experience. I'm glad that you are one of the relatively few who are perceptive at this level as well.
When I was in school, about 3 decades ago :) so before the advent of the Internet, we would gather some friends at the house of one who had a better pickup and listen to an album together, smuggled from beyond the Iron Curtain. Good reactors, like you, remind me of those happy moments of my childhood. Thank you
thanks Gabriel My best wishes from Colorado
This is why I like doing reactions. Connection and passion with other passionate music and art lovers!
Beautifully stated Sir. I salute you!
Thanks for sharing Gabriel. And indeed a complete reaction. Nice one!
I always look for @gabriel.bardac in the comments of these Nightwish reaction videos.
It's like getting an 'A' from your professor! lol
The things that you seem to appreciate the most about Nightwish is the composition of Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboardist and greatest composer of my long lifetime. He writes most of the lyrics, and about 95% of the music the band plays. Both Tuomas and Floor are empaths and their music and delivery cuts right to your soul. As you progress through their catalog, you will hear that no two songs sound alike, and you will hear many genres and styles, and that is part of the genius of Tuomas. The members of the band are virtuosos in their own right, and they play what best serves the composition, rather than their ego. You will find that your love will grow exponentially with each song. Tuomas composes the orchestrations and has (usually) The London Symphonic Orchestra and Choir record the backing tracks for both albums and live performances. Welcome to the greatest band on the planet. I'm here to join you on your version of the greatest ride of my life!
^^^^ What he said! Ditto!
I concur.
Yes! 100%
Your life is never gonna be the same
I think one of the things I love most about them is the joy they have on stage. Love it when you can see bands are enjoying themselves and with the audience. They have a lot of variation of songs, even some with a celtic/folky feel to them. Loving your reactions to them. 😊
I agree! Yes!
I've never seen floor have a bad performance, she's always amazing, I think she is one of the best singers ever
💗OMG.💗 You are such a pleasure to watch. Thanks for this great reaction. And I am glad that you took the advice to watch with the subs on. I am sure I was not the only one recommending that, even if I like to think of it that way... ;-).
And you are absolutely right: This music is not made for the casual listen. This is not your average Billboard Top 100 junkfood.
And my next Nightwish recommendation would be the lyric video for 'Shoemaker'; where Nightwish is paying hommage to Eugene Shoemaker, a planetary scientist and geologist so highly esteemed in the scientific community, that a part of his ashes were interred on the moon.
This song, and Floor's delivery of those incredible lyrics make me always tear up. Every single time.
With love from Germany, Prog O'Holic
Whoa!!! That sounds incredible!
@@redheadedneighbor Fellow redhead, Shoemaker would be great reaction. Go in cold, don't research it any further. React to the official video. It's stunning.
@@BH6242KChWhat's wrong with a little research? Not that it's strictly needed but it certainly helps to make sense of the lyric video.
@@deeteenw It's something special. OP gave a good description without giving too much away. Listening this song is something to behold, particularly early in her Nightwish journey. I'd hate to lessen the impact from a first listen. It should be an experience, letting the music speak for itself.
But definitely, listen with the lyrics. That's absolutely necessary. The poetry is inseparable from the composition.
If what you want is clever writing, then you'll find NO ONE better than Tuomas Holopainen (keyboardist). Hes a literally musical genius and the main writer and composer in Nightwish.
absolutely! A perfect proof of that is for example the magic he creates for/with Don Rosa with "A lifetime of adventures" about Scrooge McDuck! ...one of the most enchanting songs you might ever experience, sung by his wife Johanna ❤
I have been listening to music for over 50 years now. There are bands i liked, bands i absolutely loved but there is NOTHING that compares to Nightwish.
Tuomas, our metal Mozart, our Finnish national treasure 🤘he writes and composes these beautiful music and then Floor singing. And I love Jukka's drumming and his style 🥁😎
I very miss Marco.
would it be fare to compare him to a modern dat Sibelius?
Symphonic Metal is a very popular genre in Scandinavia and Europe. Nightwish is the most popular, but other bands with the same "schtick" that are awesome include Epica, Therion, and Delain, They're all worth a listen.
Did Therion not predate Nightwish?
@@Rancid-Jane Maybe. I don't closely follow the genre, but I do like Therion's use of a mezzo-soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone-bass in their vocals. Too many members for a working band in my opinion, but whatever works for them works.
@@Rancid-Jane They did. Therion started in the late 80s, though they were a Deathmetal band in the beginning. I'd say they started switching styles with Lepaca Kliffoth (1995) and went full Symphonic on Theli, which came out in 1996, the same year Nightwish was formed.
@@FzNd That was kind of you to fill in the knowledge I lacked. Thank you.
I was pretty sure they predated NW. But none of the details.
Or go back to Edenbridge, even further.
Oh redheaded girl, there are so many surprises awaiting you on the Floor journey. Don't forget After Forever (first band of Floor), Ayreon (such as The Day The World Breaks Down or Everybody Dies) or her solo work (live in Amsterdam, 2021), ReVamp, Northward
I am screenshot this
When I saw your extatic reaction to the new Warning song "S!CK" I immediately was reminded of that Video from Northward "While love died", also mainly in b/w and rockin as hell, Floors perfect brake-up song 😂🤘🎸
@@gutesgottchen4221 I concur, the music video for _While_ _Love_ _Died_ is a great choice
Thank you for nice reaction. You must know that your journey through nightwish music is full of unexpected big positive surprises.
My favorite Nightwish song!
can understand that mine is elan
Mine too. Took a while to choose though...lol
My favorite tends to change. Yesterday it was Everdream, today it's Sleeping Sun, tomorrow may be Dead Boy's Poem or Seven Days to the Wolves. Nightwish is a kaleidoscope of sounds that can brighten any emotional state.
The first.
I "hunted" this reaction :)
Edit: in fact, I was 2nd...
It's a shame general! 😉
@@karotte958 :)))) the 1st tonight was @stephenclark5812 with 22 seconds before me. It's a shame, indeed.
:)))))
@@karotte958 :))))) yes, it is.
Floor is out of this world. She is so talent.
Love it, love it, love it. Great reaction, excited can't wait for the next one, doing good. More please
Okay!
With most bands the pivotal point is the singer. When you have a singer like Floor, you would think this also goes for Nightwish. But for Nightwish almost every song is part of the journey through the mind of Tuomas (on keys, composer). Today you have seen a hint of the Peter Pan complex (fear of growing up and losing innocence) he has had for years. Remember it, because it will come back in many future songs.
Love it!
Fantastic reaction , I was in the same boat as you 8 years ago when I saw my 1st Nightwish video . Floor & Nightwish have made my life better in many ways .
I love this
Thanks for your reaction❤
I suggest for you to go with the softer ones:
Live Wembley 2015
- While your lips are still red ( beautiful harmonies)
- I want my tears back Buenos Aires 2018 ( dacing gig)
- Last ride of the day (Wacken 2013)
Links you find in Gabriels list. You will enjoy your ride if you'r open mind. Even when you don't like the harder stuff coming after.
What ever you do please DON'T STOP before you've listened to
-The Poet and the Pendulum Wembley live 2015
-The greatest show on earth Tampere live 2015
You'll probably find yourself thinking "this is my favorite Nightwish song" at the end of every new one you play. Most of us do that. ••• Mountie! PYTHON!!!
Besides her voice, which I am in love with, I am impressed by Floor's ability to command a crowd with just a gesture. Did you notice that she did not ask the crowd to clap? She just put her hands over her head & clapped, & 82,000 people clapped along in unison without even thinking about it. Even you clapped along.
Absolutely
Except that one guy 😁
@@mirjamvond1731 that's time traveler dude.... he just popped in from a Dylan show in 1966 and is still wasted on shrooms
@@RichFrye I never tire of glimpsing the Time Traveller Guy. I speculate on his reason for being there. My best speculation is that his portal landed in this crowd and became overwhelmed and stopped functioning. The guy dared not move until functionality returned, presumably when the crowd thinned sufficiently.
She commands them like an army of warriors about to do battle for their queen.
This whole concert just R O C K S. You saw Floor sing Shallow from Beste Zangers, you need to go back to Beste Zangers and watch Floor and Henk Poort sing Phantom of the Opera - unbelievable - they both will leave your chin on your chest. Wait until you get the "Shudder Before" the Beautiful from Wembley 2015. Ya might want to get a seatbelt and a helmet for that one.
That was wonderful, but I think Nightwish with Floor and Henk performing the song a few years later was better, the Marcel Fisser Band is great but not Nightwish.
Okay
@@erickvermeulen9734 I concur
Can't really agree with Floor and Henk Port beeing that amazing in Phantom of the opera. Really good though 👏 But the version with Tarja and Marko is something else 🙏💯🥲❤️ In my opinion of course 🙏
@@martinfranzen9151 I like both versions ... the one from 2005 with Tarja & Marco has more drama. The one with Floor & Henk has more grace. A version with Floor & Marco with a mix of drama and grace from both versions would be my absolute dream!
Wouldn't we all want to be there at "Wacken Open Air"? Look at the crowd, how they all have a big blast! I became such a big fan of Nightwish, but also of Floor ofcourse. She is the absolute best, not only with Nightwish, but also solo or in duets (with Henk Poort). Please continue your journey for a long serie of great reactions.
Her words on her shirt in the covervideo of “Alone” explain it all: “l’lI haul and roar cause I’m not afraid anymore”
Hi! Nightwish fan here.
Love your reaction.
And now... Yo need to hear shoemaker , believe me you NEED to see her lyric official video.
(but first learn the shoemaker's history 😉)
🤯
Love opera, love metal
love nightwish!!
Nightwish makes me happy. The energi..the music..the audience..and Floor. They are just fantastic!!!❤❤❤ cheers from a finn in Sweden. ( once you get it. You never get rid of it)
Everyone has read the same book... Love that comment. Unforgettable experience watching them at Wembley. I think that sums it up very well. Looking forward to more reactions from you.
Thank you.💕
Your just peering down the rabbit hole RED .When you start the climb down get ready for an emotional journey like no other.im 62 from PA and discovered NIGHTWISH 3 years ago just like you by hearing FLOOR singing SHALLOW but mine was a mistake. And now NIGHTWISH to me is like no other
You should react to Annette Olsen who was the second singer of nightwish you may be presently surprised. ( check out storytime and amaranth
@@terrybemis5695I think slow love slow was her best. Jazz suited her
The Nightwish music catalog IS a new sound, new emotion & new experience Every Song, Every Listen.
Enjoy these talented musicians!
Romantacide, Everdream & Song of Myself next!
Nightwish Army Italian division still present 🤘
Nightwish has so much to offer. Enjoy it all!🤘🎸
I am enjoying it so much
It takes me several listens and watches I get most of the music first listen what amazes me is how they capture so much of the experience on video welcome to the rabbit hole
Simply love love your way of reacting, so genuine!!! There are a lot of fake reactors, but you ma'am are honest and enjoy what you're watching and listening to!
Lots of love from the Netherlands, Floors home country! 🇳🇱💚
Thank you so much!! Greetings!
Ever Dream ...Nightwish
I think you enjoy the Nightwish journey...so keep going. Great reaction. They live performance are spectacular. ❤
As you progress you'll see that Nightwish really is extraordinary from all facets. You'll appreciate Emppu (Guitar), Marco (bass vocals-no longer with the band), Troy (exotic instruments). But eventually, maybe, you'll see that as extraordinary as Floor is, and as great as the first singer Tarja was, it's Thomas (Keyboard, composer, writer) who is the heart of the band and an extraordinary talent as well. Perhaps Genius with his compositions. I'm approaching 60 and this band not only refreshed my musical juices but it's a top 5 band for me that includes some very lofty names. Now I'm expanding to Epica and Floor's earlier bands and earlier Nightwish and Tarja's solo work... her dammed creepy Christmas song collection is is brilliant.
Gabriel is right - no order, except maybe waiting a little bit for "the Poem and the Pendulum", because it is the holy grail of NW songs. And you haven't even scratched the surface 😂. Wacken was the beginning of Floor's journey with NW and they are developing more and more. If you like a sneak preview of what else is coming, please react to "Shoemaker" live Pinkpop 2022. From the last tour. But be careful 😇
Floor’s talent has many sides, she crosses many genres but is a real metalhead at heart.
I think the time has come for you to listen to what Marco (bass player) can do. He also has the most incredible voice. "High Hopes", which is originally a Pink Floyd song is given the Nightwish treatment with Marco on vocals. Prepare to be blown away once more!!!
Nightwish army Canadian Division reporting in :D Been a Nightwish fan since the early 2000's the evolution of the band from Tarja to Annette and now Floor has been amazing. all the singers were great in their own rights. I've seen Nightwish live twice both with Floor and they were amazing shows, but that comment about this show was over 10 years old knocked me on my arse lol. truly ageless music. if you want more Folk music from them I'd recommend The Islander, or more newer checking out Harvest.
FYI Floor had Lucy in October and on Dec 8th she was back on stage. With alot of Energy. Freja is there other daughter. They're 6 years apart.
Howdy, Try this for a brain tease. "EPICA - Stabat Mater Dolorosa w/Floor Jansen" Two metal singers in the middle of a rock concert sing opera with an orchestra. I'm sure you will enjoy this.
They do another song in the Symphonic Metal genre "Sancta Terra" Floor and Simone together sound awesome in these two compositions.
Another awesome reaction! Yep, they're music can be a bit overwhelming for "newbies" 🙂 I had never heard of symphonic metal until I heard Nightwish. Been a metalhead since I was 10 (in the early 70s) and stumbled across Nightwish in the late 90s. They took everything I knew about rock to a whole new level. The Who, my favorite for years) was instantly dropped from #1 to #2 as my favorite band of all time. 😀
So great you like inteligent lyric writting. Tuomas the keyboard player writes most of the music like 95% and really pours his emotions into much of the music. Dead boys poem. This comes to mind.
G'day! Another great job - another step along the rabbit hole! Keep going! There's another world awaiting!... Make that another Universe!
💕💕
You have such a journey ahead of you. This team of talented musicians play for the song, and there is no ego involved in what they do. You will get to know the musicians, and find that each one is a master at what they do. Jukka (and later Kai) on the drums, Emppu, who can make that guitar sing what ever song he needs it to sing, Marko, the bassist who is also a superior singer, and whose harmonies with Floor are beyond perfect, Troy, the multi-instrumentalist who you have not seen yet, and behind it all, the rock upon which this band, this supergroup, is built is the keyboardist, Tuomas Holopainen, whose compositional and lyrical skills are world class. This is a band that makes you think, and makes you wonder.
If you like clever composition then you've found your musical home because no one comes close to the depth, intelligence, versatility and profundity that is Nightwish 🤘🤘🤘
From gutural to soprano with 4 octaves she can do all what you want
Above her it's the sun
Kiss from France
💕💕
Great reaction and coments 🤘🤘🤘. Go on👍👍👍❤️
Jes! You did it right! She can sing 2-3h[ Nightwish]: but her falls capabilities she Makel in 1 song!/ "She got no voice" -she is singing her instrument!❤.
"...like they all read the same book..."
Perhaps the best understanding of 'who is a true Nighwish fan' I've ever heard. So many ways to relate to and try to describe what actually constitutes a real sincere and powerful Fandom. Nay, an Army, with all the constituent brother/sister hood and comaraderie only shared within the most tightknit groups of humans.
And you, (currently) NW rookie Red nailed it. Much kudos.
Enjoy your journey! Looking forward to watching...
Cheers
rl
🤘👹🤘
Thank you
RHN: "Wow, she's really bringing it!"
Floor: "Hold my beer."
😃
The next one on Gabriel's list is probably either Romanticide or Ever Dream, both at the same concert, Wacken 2013 . Can't go wrong with either, and you'll get to meet Marco in both.
I'm just waiting for the Ghost River.
You can listen to the entire 2013 Wacken performance without being disappointed. Memorable show. I especially recommend the songs where Floor duets with bassist Marco, who is an exceptional singer as well. Below you can see some performance with Tarja Turunen on vocals
That smile says it all. Welcome to the Nightwish Army.
Lovely reaction, Red. I adore this band. 🙂 Floor is an enchantress, and the whole band is incredible .... they make me grin like a maniac one minute, then bring tears to my eyes the next. Keep up the Nightwish reactions, and I will enjoy continuing to watch your journey of discovery. For some variety (a non-Wacken 2013 performance) I think you would enjoy "Shudder Before the Beautiful" and "7 Days to the Wolves" (both live at Wembley, 2015). For something more emotive, but vocally stunning, try "Sleeping Sun" (at Masters of Rock) or my personal favorite, "Dead Boys Poem" (live at Buenos Aires). All the very best from the Canberra Regiment, Australian Division, Nightwish Army.
Hi Red!
So excited to follow your journey! Nightwish Army welcomes you!
Tuomas is as great a poet as he is a musician... the combination is magical once you add Floor
This concert, Wacken Open Air 2013 was phenomenal. The audio was superb and every band member was in top form. Floor's voice was also at his peak power and strength since she was 32 which is supposed to be the best age for a singer. I've got the DVD and listen to it a lot.
1,200 views the first hour… going as expected. Great reaction.
Thank you!
You would think that we go hunting for these.
Hi, my favourite Nightwish song is "The Greatest Show on Earth, it is good to see you enjoying the band.
Nightwish Rules!
Reacting to NW is like surfing on major waves. We love this band intensely! We'll follow anybody doing reactions.
They are incredibly talented
Same concert as you watched before, with Ghost Love Score. Just one of these songs is like a gym session and they go on for over an hour with the same energy.
So glad to see your venturing further down the Nightwish rabbit hole. And love your reaction style!
Hi Red, yeah it’s me back again! What a joy to see you getting bamboozled by Nightwish - don’t worry you’ll get used to it; they’ve never ceased to amaze me! Tarja was good at operatic vocals, Annette was good at more jazzy/poppy vocals but Floor can do all of that and some!
It’s probably best to stick with this concert to start with, maybe Phantom of the opera or Shoemaker next, or if you think you might be ready for something a bit heavier Romanticide. Can’t wait for your next one!
Thanks for the tips!
It's an immortal set.
This is such a fun song, full of life and energy.
It is one of the hardest songs for Floor because it's a freight train that keeps going and going, and she hardly has any time to recover, but you would never know by just seeing her do it.
Most certainly one of my favorite songs, it rekindles a childlike wonder in us and reminds us of carefree times and discovery of the world around us. (for me anyway)
And yeah, you start to realize why Nightwish is such a special band, they are incredibly diverse and have some of the best musicians in the business. (one one of the best singers period)
Hello Red! Your reactions are a balm of the soul for us NW and Floor fans because you feel like we do. It is so heartwarming to see. And I'm so much looking forward to the rest of your journey. Enjoy!
Wow, thank you
If you want to see 'energy' at another level, you have to watch 7 Days to the wolves, live at Wembley!
The song that made me an instant fan for life.
Happy Valentines day. 🌹
I'm glad you like Nightwish so much ,when I heard Nightwish for the first time years ago ,still with the second singer ,I was just as surprised how much I liked it .when I later heard Floor with GLS it was over for me .since then every day Nightwish ,attended several concerts etc .but what also flared up again was my love for metal which I had lost for some years . I actually stayed true to melodic metal, there are so many good bands in the world, maybe you will hear some of them. You've probably read Epica , with Floor as guest singer , the song Sancta Terra , there you can also see how many intersections metal and classical music have . Greetings from Germany
Hello sweet lady, greetings from UK
I am so happy that you are finding that you like this music 😊
There is a certain comfort from Nightwish songs in as much as you don't need to feel scared, they and we have you and will not let you fall. Even if you come to a song and think "this is not to my taste" (this has never happened to me) the next song will undoubtedly be because the songs are so different🙂
Wishing you a wonderful Happy Valentine's Day ❤
♥
I have loved NW since the Tarja era and STILL find new things and meanings in their music.
This song is actually from their single best album which was written for the more stacatto fairy voice of Anette, and the studio version of it is outstanding for different reasons.
Id say that and the studio "Meadows of Heaven" are her best two performances.
For Tarja id recommend Walking on the Air and Phantom of the Opera, and her studio Nemo.
The Nightwish Army demands more reactions... Please ;)
That will be my pleasure
Symphonic metal is a spectacular genre in and of itself and Nightwish is a massive force within the genre.
Glad to see you reacting to nightwish. One of the best!!
LOVING THEM
She's a power house..
From opera, metal, rock, pop, ballads, telephone book
U name it, she can sing it
Love your reactions, so pure, we al went through this (and still are). Floor is metal herself, but she can make anything and anyone be metal. Check out Phantom of the opera with Henk Poort, here she inspired a professional classical singer to do his Phantom part metal styled and Floor (and all listening) enjoyed this tremendously.... Keep up the good work..😘🤘🤘 we have a new metal lover...
Thank you
when ennio morricone invent movie music then tuomas holopainen invent symphony metal music. there´s something same these 2 brilliant man. thanx to great reaction and have wonderful day.
Very very beautiful, thank you 🥰🥰🥰
you need to have a look "tribal" video is a compilation of this song on their last tour. so you get to see snippets of the different venues.
Oh, that is interesting!
I have the same feelings you do because this is only a few months old to me. The Nightwish phenomenon that is. Btw, your hair looks amazing 🤘🏻🔥💥🙏🏻💯
They are an experience 🥰
Little remark about "Shoemaker" from their current album Human II Nature: you should know who Eugene Shoemaker was......
And another one referring to "The Poet and the Pendulum"......this one you should react to when you are a bit more familiar with the bands history.........they (esp Tuomas) had not only happy times in their past......
Great stuff RED....rock on.....🤘🤘🤘
Thank you🥰👋🇫🇮!
That was a very emotional wedding. Even the cake was in tiers.
Lol!!!!
Nightwish is a journey through a varied lanscape!❤️❤️❤️💪🏿💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽🔥🔥🔥🔥
( but please checkout Floor solo to: like my paragon🔥🔥🔥🔥)
Hello again, Red. You can't go wrong working your way through Gabriel's list, although, as he commented, you can feel free to jump around. It's all good. Thank you for continuing to make your way down our Nightwish rabbit hole.
Thank you for the reaction :)
As others have pretty much everything else covered i'm just going to say this; eventually on your Nightwish journey i'm sure your going to get to "The Greatest Show on Earth". When you do i HIGHLY recommend going for the Live at Tempere performance. Many reactors make the mistake of going for the Wembly performance since that one has the most views, and inevitably the comment section goes nuts with 'Ya did the wrong one!" Not that the Wembly performance was bad, cause its pretty great. It's just that the Tempere performance really is something special.
Now you should watch Floor And henke port sing phantom of the opera at beste zangers. You will appreciate her versatility, and the reasoning why we say she is one of the best vocalists of our time.
First - glad that you still follow this band.
2nd) Band is still very alive and going strong - they made a tour in Canada and USA 2022, played and gig in a ship called "70 000 Tons of Meta"l
3rd) ""NIGHTWISH vocalist Floor Jansen has given birth to her second child with husband Hannes Van Dahl, who they have named Lucy. In November 2022, Floor shared the uplifting news that she had triumphed over cancer. She had recently undergone surgery to remove a tumor after being diagnosed with breast cancer..""
Rather busy year, or what eh??
Clicked on this vid so fast .....love your reactions to NIGHTWISH
Yea this one is a banger .......Floor has be windmilling and headbanging for about 26 yrs.
ROMANTACIDE NEXT
Eeeee! I’m excited for that one!
Floor is an absolute Giant and fits well into a Finnish mentality of “if something is worth doing , do it right!” Nightwish is the GOAT 💙🇫🇮and shout-out to drummer, Jukka! He is absolutely an insanely baddest-ass drummer over the last BILLION 🤔 yrs (IMHO) and was the 🧨💥❤️🔥-beat of Nightwish!
Storytime Wacken 2013, my favorite video and song that Nightwish has ever recorded It helps when my 4 year old granddaughter wants to watch it every time she comes to visit since she was 18 months hold. I got videos of her doing the windmills and singing along with Floor, she knows every word.
Thank you this was a great reaction.
