Doesnt bother me that it has no built in tuner. I like that this amp is simple to use with not that many knobs and loads of built in effects. Dents dont bother me either. If youre a gigging musician or a prolific jammer, your amp will have battle scars overtime. This amp is awesome and I am a proud cr60c owner!
I'm considering buying a cr60c too. About the built in tuner it doesn't bother me either. I think that this amp isn't meant to be kinda a 'practice amp', and if you own this I'm pretty sure you have a pedalboard with a tuner or something. :)
I’m so happy that it doesn’t have a tuner. That degrades the amp to toy status to me, tbh. This amp is built to compare with tube amps, that never have built in tuners. Much more serious amp as it is, imo. The placement of the effects loop and pedal inputs is probably because of the same chassis being used in the combo and head. Saves costs to produce just one chassis format.
Great review , I have the CR60 since 4 years and its still my favorite ,Yes theres some Minor issues ( reversed channel lighting ) The speaker needed much loud playing time to "break in" until the Sound - Volume improved ( approx 20-30 hours) too , but its wasnt a problem for me ( upgraded it with Vintage 30 - sounds much better to my ears ) , The "Denting "over - stretching" can be easily repaired by just moisturising ( spraying ) the Grillecloth with some water , then place it near a heater , after a short time the cloth will dry and stretch evenly into place again ! .
@@AtlasWilder Using a hairdryer will speed up the process , besides that - i love the look of old relic - used Orange amps ! they have lots of Mojo ! :-)
Nice. I really want one of these - good to see the possible downsides I might expect. Just sick of all my tube amps and want something solid state that needs basically no maintenance, doesn't need to "warm up", doesn't weigh a freaking tonne etc. etc. Ticks all my boxes and none of these drawbacks look too bad! Nice to see them getting talked about instead of just guys sitting around going "OH! SICK TONES BRO!"
Good video, short, but good. Only thing i would change is that in the beginning you should confirm that this NOT a review video. I think most of these comments are reviewing your "review video" when actually its just a video on the 5 things you dont like. If you do like the amp overall, you should state that a lot while showing its flaws (mine had a few scruffs on it too, but small and doesnt have any influence on the sound). Just my opinion for a better video, but hey thank you for making it. I found value (even after i bought the amp two days ago).
Hi! Your video is fantastic! I have a stupid question... I've got an ORANGE SUPERCRUSH 100 HEAH and a ORANGE CRPRO412 but i'm not sure that they are connected right. Head has two outputs (under of them: 1x8ohm 1x16ohm 2x16ohm)) Cab has two inputs (in the middle of both: mono) I dont know what head output I shoud connect with what cab input.... Can you help me??

They ship them "poorly and shit" from the factory.! I ordered 2 brand new orange Jim Root cabs 7yrs ago...the guys at the shop took one cab out of the box and the grille was badly pushed in like the packing was forced against the cloth..?!! Anyways when i got to the shop, i personally opened the second box so same story...it wasnt the shops fault at all as it was "the first" brand new cabs into the shop which i pre-ordered. Fukkin terrible sounding crap they we're until i kitted them out with vintage celestion sidewinders i had sitting around. I hard wired them to 8ohms each getting rid of the speaker impedance/stacking board in the cabs and "gave away" them crappy V.O.T.W speakers to my other guitarist...you pay a lot but don't get quality control of any kind. I basically "redone" my whole cabs, gearwise, electronics and more internal bracings. Now they sound perfect.!
I literately just sawn an orange post at some trade show and half the amps were dented in lol I’ve been thinking about swapping the VOTW speaker myself, is there any plug and play Celestian options? I’m not big on wiring and I don’t mind if that’s the only option. Also what do you mean about hard wiring them to 8 ohms? And effecting the speaker impedance? Forgive my ignorance I’m still really learning how all this stuff works together. Thanks for the comment!
@@AtlasWilder hey mate...inside the cab there is a PCB type board switch. I removed the "whole" assembly wires and all to the speakers and used normal 6.35mm or quarter inch jack sockets (in olden days terms)..lol both my cabs are wired in 8ohms parallel so if i decide to use both cabs at the same time the amp will drive harder at 4ohms (once set impedance on head is selected). Ok, 2 × 8ohm cabs = 4ohm impedance total as each speaker itself is rated at 16ohms and wired in parallel brings it to 8ohms. You can also use 8ohms "each" speakers and wired same way run a 4ohm cab. Or you can use 2 "6.35"mm jack sockets and have seperate inputs to have a stereo cab but the means you can only use one socket at a time, depending on what speakers and ohmage you choose. I also find that believe it or not "EMINENCE" Speakers sound amazing in these orange cabs too. I tried many different types like, Plessey, Rola's, Lorants...until i hit the more modern ones but i settled on my celestion sidewinders for one cab and EMINENCE 100 watters each in the other cab. Bit overkill on the wattage but it works for me. Hope that helps bud n cheers..\m/\m/
Yeah, you and me both. I have a Orange crush 35rt, and I settled for 35rt because Orange Amplifiers' are expensive. I thought I was paying for high quality craftsmanship, now I am ready to modify. I have been looking into pages dedicated to the technology of guitar effects pedals and, oh was I in for some school'n, I've found out about modifying pedals and amplifiers and I am still scratching the surface. I have been looking for the right pedals after years of guitar playing and, the more I find out, I am becoming more and more sketchy about it. It's sounding like I am going to have to rewire and/or modify everything. It's so silly. Later, I've got more research to do.
I am seriously looking into your modifying techniques. I own a Orange crush 35rt amplifier, and thought I was finally getting quality craftsmanship. I thought the British knew what they were doing. Looks like I need to invest in a breadboard and a soldering iron. Thank you for your honesty and insight. Sometimes it seems that guitarists have closely guarded secrets about amps and effects.
Hate the loop switch and ext speaker jack locations on my pro60...I stopped using the loop It definitely should come with switch My 60 didn't sound boxy, but I bought an orange 1x12 ext cab and it totally changed the sound for the better I'm all about putting combos on top of ext cabs No more stands
Seemed like a lot of hum when you turned the guitar volume up at the end, considering you're running humbuckers. We're you using a coil split or something?

yes from china, but still a great amp ( i have the crush 60 i bought two days ago, just played it w a drummer and bassist, the amp pierced through quite nicely, im impressed w the orange sound and ease of use. I had a blackstar ID150 head and 2x12 cabinet, thing was way too big and bulky and never found that stellar tone ive been searching for, and their pedal was a pain without any decent videos on it. So after three years of giiging with that, i traded it in and bought Orange....Frieken love it!!!......so far

Understood. A common theme on YT would be a “why you shouldn’t buy...” those will highlight true dislike of a product. I honestly think this is a great light weight digital amp, I’m going to experiment with swapping the speaker as a huge group of people recommend it saying it really makes the amp come alive.
@@AtlasWilder i own the cr120c and its great, only the reverb is digital, the rest is analog, solid state circuit from what i understand. i feel the drive channel gets too muddy at higher settings so wonder if either an eq in the FX loop would solve that or as you say, a speaker swap, in which case you would need to know exactly what sound you want, i just want crisp clean punch overdriven tones, the clean channel is great already IMHO

You can flip the OD switch on the amp so the switch will be correct.
That is false doesn’t not work on the combo, the light is always on when clean is engaged flipping the switch does null.
Same on my cr120h. Probably the biggest thing I don’t like about that amp.
I own one. Best sounding solid state amp I’ve played. But yeah the footswitch and effects loop is a pain.

You can fix the dents with water and a hair dryer, also, the lights off when distorted on oranges because they are meant to be dirty

Buy a fender amp, my dude, and whatever you do - for the love of god - don’t gig it. Would hate to dent and scuff it up.
