    I love how you show all the steps, particularly where you don't HAVE to be quite so accurate. It can be very daunting for a new painter to think "but i MUST stay always with the lines" and it is liberating to see these things on a TH-cam tutorial. Thanks for keeping it real, and being SO helpful!

      Thanks man. You’re so right! There can be a lot of pressure on new painters to feel everything has to be perfect, but the truth is by concentrating on apply your paints cleanly and smoothly you can tidy things up as you go and still get a good result at the end 🙂

    I just picked up this set as a horde leading up to the Hydra from the same mini line, and I wanted the kobolds to be green, not red, to match what I'd done with the Hydra. I love your tutorial - super helpful, super chill. I mostly use Vallejo, but I love Citadel shades, and your camera is sharp enough to make equivalent decisions with my Vallejo selection. Great video. Thanks for teaching me!

      Thanks for checking out my video. Really glad you found it useful.
      I love these little minis. So much character. They look great in pretty much any colour you choose too.
      Everyone does them red and I think it’s always nice to be a bit different 😉
      Best of luck with yours

    Great work, this mini is so cute! I'm going to have to grab some because my brother actually has a D&D kobold character who definitely deserves a nice model.

    Thanks for the tutorial! I just got my hands on this set and it'll be my first jump into mini painting. This video helped me to no end.
    I'm also expressing interest in you covering the rest of this set; I'm particularly interested in how you would go about painting the fire snakes and basilisk. I think this scheme covers the rest nicely, so if you made just one more, I'd love to see either of those!
    Keep up the good work!

    I just subscribed in the hopes that you will do a video on the rest of the epic encounter models (ie the dragon, the orcs and the frost giant.) You said you’d do them if there is an interest, so I’m expressing an interest.

    • @BrushstrokePaintingGuides
      @BrushstrokePaintingGuides  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you. Unfortunately, you seem to be in the minority, as there’s not been much interest in this one.
      I do like the look of the frost giant though, so I’m tempted to do a video on that one.
      I hope you’ll have a look at my other videos though, as the tips and recipes would certainly come in useful for the rest of the Epic Encounters range

    • @16431421
      @16431421 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Meh. I really don’t like to start a painting project unless I have an idea of the color scheme, and I have to see it somewhere first. I lack the ability to proceed with the rest of the encounters line. I definitely think you should do the giant. Super detailed miniature. Have you painted all of your Kobolds in your own time yet? I’d love to see pictures of the finished looks for them for inspiration. The manuals provide very poor color detail. Too much gray, to get an idea of what these things are really supposed to look like.

    Great Vid! Question around the base. Did you remove the model from the base in this video customize the base and then re-apply/prime? I know you mentioned the model was glued to the base, so curious how you did it. Great video, very helpful!

    • @BrushstrokePaintingGuides
      @BrushstrokePaintingGuides  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you.
      No, I didn’t remove the model from the base. It seemed pretty strongly attached, so I didn’t want to risk damaging it trying to separate it.
      I simply applied a little PVA glue to the base, pressed the skull and rock bits into it and then sprinkled fine sand over the rest of the glue.
      Then it was just a case of priming the whole model and painting as shown in the video.
      Thanks for giving it a watch, great to hear you found it useful 👍🏻

    • @BrushstrokePaintingGuides
      @BrushstrokePaintingGuides  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You will need to prime them ready for painting. You can either use a spray can primer or a brush on primer.
      As it’s your first mini I would suggest you go with a spray primer such as Games Workshop or Army Painter

    Are these models made of polystyrene, so would I be able to kitbash them with GW minis?

    • @BrushstrokePaintingGuides
      @BrushstrokePaintingGuides  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what the exact material of them is. It's like slightly bendy plastic. They come as single piece minis, so if you were wanting to kitbash with them you'll need to cut them up. I can't see any reason why you couldnt kitbash them with GW minis other than that though. The scale isnt the same as GW though, so bear that in mind

    • @Lazerus101
      @Lazerus101 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically yes. But being D&D scale they are a bit smaller scale than GW standard.
