I notice that the referees dont get involved much in physically separating players when they're fighting. Why is that. Perhaps they are afraid of getting done for assault if they touch the players.
Being a ref for 15 years I learned that both female players involved are more than likely going to turn on you. That’s why most won’t step into the middle of that situation.
I think there some guidelines even for male football: if the referee gets involved he can miss some side action, besides not being his job to break apart the altercation.
