You really should allow small personal purses or handbags IN ADDITION to carry on luggage! There are many personal items that we need to be able to conveniently and quickly access (like feminine products, medications, inhalers, etc.) without having to fumble for and remove them from our carry on. This is one of many reasons why air travel is not as good as it used to be.
