EXCELLENT RESULTS!!!! You make it look so easy LOL
That handle looks like it would be very comfortable if it was the right size for your hand... but it looks like it would fit most hands...
The pattern came out quite subtle, but the handle also did too... they are a great match! I like the small amount of darker area on the handle and how there is also a small darker area on the blade.... it was a happy little coincidence LOL :) - GREAT JOB!!!

If you want to make the patterns on the blade A LOT DARKER then you have to soak the knife in VERY STRONG Instant coffee after the ferric chloride... It will make the dark areas MUCH DARKER :)

i hop with those cold shuts you kept that blade as a artistic piece. it looks cool but i would be worried about the blade breaking at the location of the cold shuts at the tip

Thanks for your keen eye and feedback! 🔥⚒️ I appreciate your concern - cold shuts can definitely be a weak point. This blade is more of an artistic piece rather than a functional one. It’s always important to prioritize safety and durability in a working knife! 🔪🔥 Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! 🤘

I would like to see someone make some "Damascus" from some really high strength bolts or studs used in race engines. Like the 'ARP' brand . maybe use the main studs , rod bolts, from blown engines. Because buying a set of $150 main bolt to make a knife with is insane the steel maybe 8740? Have no idea just saw it tossed out there in adds. Whatever it is it seems strong and hard i have thought of using common steels to make the billet. Only adding a few hard facing welding rods to make the knife edge from. Have it in a 'U' shape around one side. Having the sudes rought 1/4" milled out to hold the rods without tge flux.(85-95% removed anyway) and two rods thick on the side, anout 4-6 rods thick for the billet. And 1.75" -2" wide. Basically 1/2"-5/8" thick starting out. The quick and dirty way you coujd just forge weld 5-6 sheets of steel, and just weld the hard face on. Remove the flux from a rod or two. And weld them to the edge eith another hard facing rod, forge to shape, then grind a knife from the billet. Keeping the hardface welded side marked so it becomes the edge. It should keep an edge! However the stud Damascus would probably make a really good big knife. Like a kbar, something that can chop a tree down, then slice a fish fillet. One thing id like to make. Is a hatchet knife. Having a short hatchet handle about 1/2 or 2/3 the length. About 9"-10", then a small hatchet about what a 20oz ball peen hammer can make. Only add a rino horn to it the cutting edge turning into a knife. The hatchet portion being near palm size. 3.5" x 5" then from about the handle hole to cutting edge 2.5"-3" to tge cutting edge. The knife blade starting being 2.5"x 6" and transitioning from the hatchets near 1/4" thick average thickness, to the knife being 1/8" the handle having two grips. One under the head, to allow the knife to be used as normal
Another idea is a hollow handle with the knife inside. Sharing the handle a 1/8" thick 2" pipe handle, with a plug fitting in. That is the knifes guard. With a pin or screw to secure into the handle. the handle/grip being 1/2" steel with 3/16" blade,8"- 11" long fitting vzgr 12"-16" handle, the 1.85" wide blade maybe flatten the tube zo fit a 2"-2.135" wide blade inside. The 1.5" aluminum guard fitting inside with a button head 1/4" bolt 2-3 of zhen 3/8" long holding it inside. With a Allen wrench gitting into the grip. Making removal fairly easy , the oval pipe allows the hatchet to also be used.. happy holidays be awesome to see this stuff made. Even from old truck springs!...🎉; happy holidays....

Seriously. It's misleading people allowing them to think this is a suitable material for a good knife. A simple bar of known steel between two layers allows for a beautiful look and high quality edge.

You didn't remove the chromium. All those little metallic flects in the metal are impurities from the chromium coated screws. I worry for the integrity of the blade.

Looks at the sparks coming from the steel and thinks, "There is hardly any carbon." Sadly no matter the look this is a paper weight. A simple piece of high carbon steel sandwiched between that billet would have made it beautiful and functional. I hope people watching realize that this is not good steel for a knife edge...
