This is amazing, shame there’s no arrangement view. You could have it so that turning your phone to landscape brings up the arrangement view and turning back to portrait goes back to session. That way you could really make full tracks within the app!

    Looks pretty cool and slick.
Nice UI and sounds quite nice.
I like the fact there are some limitations in this first version as I feel having certain restrictions increases creativity.
I think back about my history of buying synths for example. Normally you get the kit home... flick through the presets and maybe tweak some of the inbuilt sounds but rarely create a new sound from scratch. Maybe because everything is there, laid out for you.
However, after spending a few thousand € and putting my modular synth together it took me about 1 hour to even get a single sound out of it!!
Was frustrating as hell but I can tell you in that 1 hour I learnt more about sound and synthesis than in my whole previous life!
Basically, I think it's good Ableton are keeping this app fairly simple and strictly targeting this as a sketch-pad. I hope they keep it that way and in future only include updates that enhance this 'inspiration capturing' workflow.
At the end of the day I think most creative sparks we encounter are snippets of information that are only 1-4 bars long (not a full blown production!). ... A cool drum pattern that enters your brain... a nice vocal hook, a cool chord sequence you want to remember.
Looks like Note might be a good way to capture these moments and expand on them. Especially considering it's meant to run on the one piece of tech you have with you all day... (your phone).
My only gripe is it's not compatible with Ableton 10 suite. That's a shame...

This looks so good. Is there any timeline for an android roll out? New iPhone is the same price as the live suite these days 😂

Awesome app, so easy to use and creative. No video manual needed actually…

Very cool. One thing I think would be awesome to do which doesn’t seem available is be able to record your guitar/bass with an amp simulator as a loop instead of a sample like you can in GarageBand. Would make this complete.

Downloaded this today and already like it a lot. I already have one comment though: would you consider integrating some return tracks? Or maybe they exist and I just missed them? Thank you

At the moment it appears to be a fun and powerful groovebox with some great original features. If it gets AUv3 hosting or becomes an AUv3 with multi out it could take over everything though.

Hi Pete, Audio Unit v3 devices are not available in Note, since this would not be compatible with Ableton Live on Windows. We hope for your understanding!

@@Ableton So it's a standalone app that works as an add-on to Live rather than a move into iOS per se? I understand your position but would suggest that making it possible to operate as a mutli-out AUv3 within other hosts would allow you to retain the seamless connection to Live desktop whilst adding immense functionality for users who stay within the iOS ecosystem

@@PeteSasqwax Thank you for your feedback on this! The best way to submit this as a feature request for Ableton Note is to open the Help menu in Note's Setting Page and tap the "Feedback" button. We're looking forward to hearing any more feedback you might have for us!

AUv3 makes no sense, having ableton only effects it keeps the process seamless for everyone

Retrospective record preview and buffer-clear are superb. I was going to complain about how there’s apparently no way to make a note longer, but they make it so easy just to delete a bunch of notes and play them back in properly - could even be that we’re better off this way. (A Live device chain’s refusal to acknowledge that a MIDI message oughta have a MIDI channel, on the other hand - that’s just a crying shame.)
