Don't fret about not being able to afford this. I bought a fully loaded C8 Corvette Cabriolet for $130 CAD after tax and after full body PPF. The interior is full nappa leather. When I say full, I mean every single surface is either nappa leather or real metal (except for a couple of switches around the steering wheel). Even the bottom of the door cards is nappa leather, unlike this Mercedes. No one notices the SL's at cars and coffee once I roll up in my C8. I see you reviewed a base C8 on your channel. Being a Canadian owner with 40,000 kms on mine and winter driven, I'll give you some feedback on some of the things I feel you missed in that review of the C8. See you over there.
So...I am fortunate enough to own both the new SL 63 AMG and an older Porsche Turbo 911. I absolutely love Porsche and also have a Taycan Turbo which I will never part with. However, the SL 63 AMG is NOT more nimble that a Turbo, or any other Porsche. That having been said, at this stage of my life, its the SL 63 that is the car I want to drive. Both of these cars have handling, acceleration and precision which far exceeds the upper limits of what is sanely possible on American roads. So, for me, it is the comfort and related GT qualities which are paramount, and this is where the SL 63 outshines the Porsche. The MB is the superior cruiser - full stop. Panache is rather subjective - ride quality is not. MB SL 63 has both. And the car is as quiet with a soft top (if not quieter) than my hardtop Turbo 911. The soft top is that well engineered. If I was a younger man who still went to the track (Monticello mostly), it would be the Porsche all day long. But this new SL is special, not perfect, but special. It threads the needle of GT and supercar. It doesn't dominate either class, but blends these qualities perfectly. So, I would recommend the SL 63 over the Porsche for those who want great capabilities while cruising while keeping your chiropractor visits to a minimum.
I have a matte black (XPEL stealth ppf) SL63 with red interior, and it gets crazy amounts of attention. Love this thing! Also, to your complaint about the "plastic" center console, that's part of whatever trim package is selected. You can have it be full carbon fiber, which makes things look a lot better.
Hey Mike awesome as Always. Just a Suggestion to get to 1 Mio. Subs sooner ... Those Intros Like in the escalade V were f*** awesome, i shared it Like hell. More of those please . When can we expect the new Cayenne Facelift review from you? Best regards from Germany
The SL43 is not sold in Canada. It's identical except for the 4-cyl and exhaust tips. The SL55 is also identical except for less power. Also not sold in Canada. They are planning on a 6-cyl in the new CLE coupe and cabriolet.
Personally, I feel that transitioning from a hard-top to a soft-top convertible in the 2023 Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG is a step backward in terms of design and luxury. I've always believed that a hard-top roof provides a more sophisticated and secure feel, and the switch to a soft-top compromises the overall appeal of the vehicle.
One of the prettiest car for now. And as I mentioned in Shorts - I don't like current MBenz's interiors, hardware and software. It's look way outdated, despite the overall attractiveness and wow-effect. But in this model it's fine (software still sucks tho).
yes, way, way more money. and completely different cars. apples and oranges. I own an S63AMG Cab, but I loved my Porsches back in the day. sill love porsche, but too small for my age group. @@twfinc6855
I paid 163k for my 2018 SL63 plus tax... it was 191 list but mercedes had big discounts, and the dealer kicked some in also.. so almost 30k off msrp... I miss the car all the time, it was great... however this new one with AWD is heavier ------- amg said they were going to make it lighter !! what happened?? Well I still like it but im not spending 230k canadian on it.. best time I got with my 2018 was 3.6 seconds 0-60, and 11.47 quarter mile at 126 mph.. at cayuga..... the old one with the 5.5 litre has loads more torque than this new one
That's why I am planning to keep my 5.5 litre. 664 ft. lbs in a luxury GTouring. And I don't know who all these people are racing. Many EVs will smoke the fast IC cars. Fast, smooth cruising is the way to go.
I'm trying to like the exterior styling, but it's just not happening. Since the early 90s, SL styling would take your breath away. It was beautiful and exotic. But this body styling isn't doing it for me. Maybe I have to see it in person.
Germans are building these super gas powered vehicles while the Chinese are developing EV powered vehicles that have similar 0-60 times at half the cost: Who do you think will win this race in the long term?
The Germans also have fast EVs, they do both, Mercedes, Audi and BMW all have a big EV line. Mercedes has the EQS, EQE so far, BMW has the i4, i5, iX, i7 etc…, Audi has the Q4 e-Tron, e-Tron GT etc
who wants a SL43??? no one.. I have seen some SL450's for sale used on autotrader same cars for over a year now.. no one wants the 450, but the 63 sells... but they are too much money used..
Personally like the previous s-class couple much more, just better looking car at totally other class of Grand Tourers like Bentley Continental with decent second row and trunk P.S probably will never drive any it them😂
Agree. I have the 2017 AMG S63 Cab and it can't just be my imagination, because the online reviewers are comparing it to the Bentley. I am a Benz guy (bought my first new 12 cyl Benz in the early 1990s). We can comfortably get two couples in the car. And when I am by myself... sport mode an some phat, Grand-ass touring!! :-)
Both those colours suck. The Benz looks like the factory forgot to paint the car and just put clearcoat ontop of primer. On the Kia, I just don't like matte paint.
"And if you can afford it, buy one" Um, apologies, but I humbly disagree. If you can afford it, buy a C8 Z06. It will destroy this SL, sound better doing it, attract more attention (if you're into that), and handles like what it is - a mid-engine supercar. It will be the more valuable car after 5 years because, yep, straight up, the SL is overpriced compared to the competition (you can buy a 911 Carrera 4 Cabrio for less money which is the benchmark). This car shines in isolation, but loses lustre fast when cross-shopped. So, I call this car an "old guy impulse buy". Ah, yes, the one thing in common with the previous SL, lol!
No one who wants an SL wants a C8 Vette. The corvette is the status symbol of the dumb white trash hicks who made a little money and are having a mid life crisis. Corvette = New Balances. An SL or a 911 is a finely tailored Hugo Boss suit. And no, the C8 does not get more attention, it’s rather ugly and looks like a cheap Chinese 458 rip off, plus there’s too many on the road for anyone to care. Everyone who’s driven the SL or been around one will tell you how much attention it gets. It has a striking beauty. Something the Corvette and the 911 haven’t done for a couple decades. Yes there’s no denying that the C8 Z06 drives amazing, but respectfully no one is cross shopping these two cars.

I got to drive a few of these when I was working at Mercedes. The car is very nice but I preferred the GT or an E63.
Great reviewer, great video.
Mercedes Benz silver star 🌟 the best or nothing

Great car, great review but I'm confused when you said the silver bright work is plastic when in fact it's optional $950 aluminum.

I prefer the Sound of the yellow jaguar you just reviewed few months ago
Please tell us how you kept the hat on.
Great!! I love this car! Its awesome!!! but how did you keep your hat on...........lol
it is 12 MPG and in Seattle USA there's a gas Guzzler tax charge of $1000 or so
Thus car needs to be in red to show its beauty
is that 0-60 with rollout? they time the corvette with rollout, just wondering..
Subbed to your channel because you literally showed me a better way to open the door to this car lmao
Stinger color all day. I hate that color grey.....looks like primer with a clear coat. But the 63 is AMAZING.
Love it!
you can be sure that the car has over 600 HP and thanks to Mercedes that the sarting price without any options is only € 195k = $ 287k Canadian 😅
The 577hp rated motors dyno at 605hp in most cases. Interesting that it didn't get the full 664ft lbs of torque that some do.
It sounds really amazing in isolation but the elephant in the room is would you really buy this over a 911 Turbo S?
there is no comparison, the turbo S is way faster, and way more money.
Turbo is the same price but .5 seconds faster, at the cost of less luxury and tech
yes, way, way more money. and completely different cars. apples and oranges. I own an S63AMG Cab, but I loved my Porsches back in the day. sill love porsche, but too small for my age group. @@twfinc6855

I can’t believe Mercedes are getting rid of that V8😂
Cars prices are out of control!! beautiful vehicle but this is not a $200,000 car. It's a MB.
An mb and? Because they make affordable luxury cars means they can't also make prestigious and exclusive 200k cars? What idiocy.
Affordable luxury cars? the GLE 53 with a V6 is $100K ???? That's the price of a house just 10 year ago. @@jackmarston2515

I won the poweball. First 3 people to like this comment gets an SL63! 😅

Would you rather own the SL63 or a Carrera T?
Depends, would you rather have more luxury and tech, or a .5 quicker acceleration time?
It sounds like the only thing excellent is how much money someone is willing to waste on that car piece of junk. Buy a Lexus

MB transmissions are weak. Easily gets broken. Always confused.
