Why do i remember this like it was yesterday?. Because it was a golden era of feel good music and that is what we need right now.More 80s for me any day!.
According to Jennifer Sanders of "Ab Fab" fame, she says that these girls were the HARDEST drinking girls she ever met in her life during the 80's. Not a drink, but a bottle of vodka was the norm.
Fun fact: this video was the first time Bananarama tried cocaine. Construction workers nearby invited them to try it. That’s why they seem more “amped up” towards the end of the video
It is a hard name to get right first time Jay, but best way to think of saying it is Banana-rama. They had around 30 hits here in the UK also check Robert de Niro's Waiting and Venus.
Yup...Daniel kicking the soccer ball around talking Ali and Johnny Lawrence looking at them not happy about it.....Seen it in the theater with my friends sharing popcorn and milk duds.... the good ol' 80s great time to be alive!
Another girl group to check out us Expose’.... so many hits: I’ll never get over you getting over me, Seasons change, when I looked at him, What you don’t know, so so many more
Best girl band ever is extremely far fetched. While the were very successful in the UK the only had a couple of hits in the US, don't get me wrong, I liked them, but even at the top of their success, the Go Gos and the Bangles had way more success.
@@kurtsaxton9665 I got my info from a biopic on YT. I was doubtful as well. I thought, “What about the Supremes etc.” and I’m not sure what the criteria used was. Nor am I sure we’re talking about the US or the rest of the world too.
@@tkaefring yeah,I looked it up also and saw the Supremes, I forgot about them. Also forgot about Spice Girls, but Bananarama was up there, they were alot more successful than I thought.
This is one song I can listen to over and over. All of the instruments are so good. It actually brings a tear to my eye. Or maybe that's just 80s nostalgia.
Love that one and "Hello.' Those are a couple of my favorite songs and the videos and Siobhan is impossible to take your eyes off in the videos with her expressions.
This is another one of those "oh I remember this one!" Thanks for reminding me of all of these amazing songs that not only bring back memories but make me happy!
We had dozens of groups like this in the 80s, music was still good in the 90s too!!!!What do we have to do, nothing! People, we always have TH-cam to go back to listen to these great songs
This was a fun song, I think they were underrated. Many females and groups at same time that imo over shadowed them. Enjoying this memory road we're on 🤗💗
JoVaughn - Still waiting on the Go-Go’s. An absolutely fabulous all girl band. Try listening to their hit “Our Lips Are Sealed”. 👄 A good one for the weekend. :)
Awesome reaction to a proper feel-good track! Bananarama had a good few hits so you should check out “I Heard A Rumour” and “Venus” next for more of the same!
This is one of my all time faves of theirs, you can help but dance to it. Other faves of theirs are "Love In The First Degree, Robert De Niro's Waiting, Venus, Nathan Jones & Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye, all awesome hits. Xylophone was the Instrument you were referring to Jay.
xylophone sound(probably played on a synthesizer keyboard) nice bass-line too, and the clean Strat strumming away it's a good composition overall. Their harmonizing voices sound smooth, pleasant to the ears. The eighties had it going on
No, not the opening credits lol. It was during Daniel’s first day at his new school. It played as he rode his bike through the neighborhood on his way there; then again when he got into it with the Cobra Kais playing soccer ⚽️
As a fan girl since i was about 10(35 years ago), there are so many songs. But their alsolute classic and probably most defining song has gotta be "Venus." You've probably even heard it, without knowing.
Ace of Base had a big hit covering this song in the 90's. Speaking of which, you should do some Ace of Base, "The Sign", "Don't Turn Around", "All That She Wants", "Wheel of Fortune", "Lucky Love", "Life is a Flower", etc. etc.. They were considered the ABBA of the 90's, since it was a 2 girl, 2 guy, Swedish group.
Bananarama were very cool back then. I recommend the song "Hello (turn your radio on)" by Shakespears Sister. It's another project of Bananarama's lead singer Shiobhan Fahey, and the song had a lot of airplay, and still has.
I’ve never been a big fan of this song, but it did work really well in some film soundtracks. When it’s juxtaposed skillfully with the right imagery, it becomes more effective.
Remember when you reacted to Shakespeare's Sister's song Stay? Well the blonde girl that had her hair up, under the rag? Well, she was the "Demon/witch" that came for the guy. She'd left BananaRama, then formed Shakespeare's Sister.
Bananarama and The Bangles (another 3 girl group) started putting out hits at roughly the same time. I only listened to whatever they had on the radio at the time - - never really followed their careers. I couldn't tell you which group sang which hit, but they were both agreeable to listen to.
Halfway through the shoot of this video they took a break at a local bar and got coked ❄️ out by the locals, I always try to guess which scenes are post break. One of my favorites from the era....and it definitely brings back memories of the 80s, karate kid
The great thing about Bananarama was that they didn't takes themselves too seriously. They had fun and produced some good catchy songs.
Remember when they did "Help" with French and Saunders?
Loved it when they teamed up with The Fun Boy Three
@@kelst75 yeah, it was great lol 😆
This was a such a FUN song...1984.
I guess no pop band took themselves seriously at that time. but the song is good
Why do i remember this like it was yesterday?.
Because it was a golden era of feel good music and that is what we need right now.More 80s for me any day!.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Simple lyrics and amazing beat
Yep yep yeppers! Brings me back to my days being a lifeguard at the local pool for the summer!!
this is the song of the year
it's a cruel year
"Venus" and "I heard a rumour" should be next
+1

Go-Gos would do the same . A few lines before going on stage to get that little extra kick.
As we are talking about summer: I suggest Don Henley - Boys of summer
You'd be lucky Don doesnt like his music used on here. Very protective to say tge least
Iconic song. One of the best.
You might get a nasty cease and desist letter just for typing that man’s name on the internet.
Great summer song...
Would be blocked upon submission. Dude literally has hundreds of people scouring the internet to block anything by him. Not my words... his.
It's "banana", then "rama" that rhymes with banana! 😀
#1 with the Minion community 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Fantastic fun.
Just gotta remember the bananas they were throwing at the cop car.
Grew up in the 80’s, Loved this song Big Time!! It always got played at the local skating rink ( roller skating) lol!!
These are a cool British girl band from the 80s & there songs are really good 👍
So they’re new artist!!!! What?!! They sound like it’s from the 80s and I guess bananarama is a new artist!!
‘Venus’ is their biggest hit.
Yes! This song is used in Karate kid 1 I believe. It's Ba na na rama! But you are forgiven. Venus is also a known song.
@Jeffrey Poupard me too, is is the scene at the beach or the fun fair?
