Some say to grind a lil bit of paint from inside the spring as well. This prevents the whole thing from becoming just a screw. However, it isn't always necessary. Great video! Great info!
@@BarstoneRC You are welcome. Hopefully, this time it will. You do "Push" yours too though...lol. I did grind my spring and after 2 bash sessions and 3 speed runs(fingers-crossed), it is still holding up. Each 1 is a little different and so are the drivers and the adjustments we make. Good luck with it. Keep making the awesome content as well.
Yeah hopefully I’m going to take it out tomorrow and give it a good run and see how it holds up if it starts loosening up again I’ll give that a try. But thanks for the info and support
These are tricky to get right. I ended up scrubbing everything in rubbing alcohol and putting a generous amount of blue threadlocker on the screw after backing the nut off a half turn from completely tight. My spring is actually busted at this point, but it honestly doesn't seem to matter. Hopefully your rebuild will yield lasting good results! 👍
Great stuff, I think that nut is used to help hold the slipper together and stop it from loosing . If you check out the new 3s cars they use that and says for precise adjustments. I think I’m going to try and use it next I rebuild mine . I also take mine apart and lightly sand the mating surfaces with a very fine paper and clean everything really well and it works great . Also I don’t know what pinion you run but everytime I switch to the 15 tooth the slipper loosens up , so I just run the13 tooth and all is good.
I’m running the stock pinion in it and I try using that little nut inside the slipper clutch and it will not go onto the input gear if you have it in there?
@@j.c.proctor Well they don’t really lock in the place from what I remember I usually stuck one side into the housing and then put the bearing and stuff on and then put the other side of the case on
Everything in your hold clutch seems fine to me mine is far worst the only way i got the clutch to hold i red threadlock but i put it on the hole of the rear hub and a but on the screw or it doesnt stop backing out mine is a year and a half old
The only thing I really found wrong with it was the little roller bearing between the two washers on the screw one of the rollers was missing. I put red Loctite on it so far it’s OK I guess I’ll see how it holds up?
So it came loose once again. So I just did what you do with soaking the inside and the bolt with red loctite with it turned out 1 and a 1/4 turns out. I guess I’ll see what happens?
Dude the slipper clutch in this thing hates me, absolutely hates me LOL I just had it out at the track and broke a driveshaft in five seconds because the slipper clutch started slipping too much again so I tightened it up and then broke a driveshaft. I just set it again and Loctited the hell out of it differently this time see if this works?
Great vid this is what every one needs to watch when converting from 3s to 4s on the big rock.they dont tell you that you have to add a pad
Thanks buddy I appreciate it

Yeah I’m hoping it holds up this time if it doesn’t I’m not sure what I’m going to do? But thanks for the info!

Very informative sir! Thank you for the guidance!
Glad it was helpful!

I’m hoping man I put red Loctite on it but I guess we will see I’m going to the motocross track right now to test it out.
@@BarstoneRC
Awesome, good luck!
Thanks! I feel like I’m going to need it LOL

Bars&tone RC so that’s why the new input gear on the 3s cars are different. Any way I’m excited to see what the next version will bring.
Yeah I’m curious to see what the new ones are like.
Good tutorial my friend.. keep those old slipper hubs just incase.. never know when your going to snap the rear one.. 👍
Thanks buddy! Yeah I kept the old one around since it’s not stripped out but I had it out today and within five seconds broke a driveshaft LOL
@@BarstoneRC oh man..🤦♂️.. Kraton is giving you the beans man.. that's crazy!
Yeah this thing just seems to hate me LOL I don’t get it?
I have my slipper screw at hand tight.....anything less it doesn't perform. maybe the slipper plates are wore out??? Either way good vid.
After I rebuilt it with the new spring and bearing it’s been working well at 1.5 turns out from tight. Thanks for watching bud
@@BarstoneRC no problem thanks for the hard work and content my guy....gives me a basis on what to expect or not too lol.
Nice parts bro. 👍
Hope it holds up for ya. 👍 😊
Thanks GAZ!! Me to man me to. Lol
Has everything stayed working properly Now?
I’m doing my first break down of the clutch and using the maintenance kit.
Yeah it has been solid as a rock now after rebuilding it I am however dealing with a bad ESC at the moment.
My bearing in my spur is not staying in do you think that is a defect ? Or do I need to take a hammer to it?
Do you mean it keeps sliding off?
@@BarstoneRC I hear and feel a snap but it still comes out when I flip it over to install the other side I have to hold the bearing in place
@@j.c.proctor Well they don’t really lock in the place from what I remember I usually stuck one side into the housing and then put the bearing and stuff on and then put the other side of the case on
@@BarstoneRC I'm going to try it again in a few I remember the bearing in the plastic spur wasn't thar easy to come out
No that one stays on there very tight usually but the one on the slipper itself usually does slide on and off easily

Another slipper clutch piece wow you have had too many issues with it?!

Bars&tone RC my slipper clutch is just fine if that makes you jealous
Well I’m glad somebody’s not having problems with theirs LOL and yes I am slightly jealous.
Hey, what are the signs of a slipper clutch starting to loosen?
You will notice a lot less power going to the back wheels especially but overall a loss in power
Amazing thank you!
Hell yeah
So is that your thing now? Hell yeah? LOL
