Well, it took me 9 months to a year to get over plantar fasciitis in one foot and still to this day, 10 years later, that foot has never been quite right again. The plantar fascia is a weird part of the body. It is not muscle. It is not skin. It is not a tendon. It has very little in the way of blood circulation. Nobody seems to know DEFINITIVELY what causes it, although it does tend to afflict athletic people. (I was a regular 10 k runner just to stay in shape.) And nobody seems to know how to TREAT it the way you can treat other problems and have any IDEA of how long it takes to heal it. Given that a QB really needs his legs to throw the ball well...this is not just a minor thing like a pulled muscle. This could...screw up the whole season and then some.
There is "an injury to his plantar facsia" and then there is plantar fascitis. The two are totally different. I am amazed no one is making the distinction here or mentioning how one is acute and can heal fast and one is a chronic inflammation problem that will linger sometimes for years. To me this sounds like it is the former.

He has himothy harbaugh did we forget, he won't have the same pressure on him just by having harbaugh as his coach. The offense won't be as stagnant as it was last year. Herbert won't have to be the guy for this team like he constantly has been for the past years. I think it'll give him some slack time to try and rest up and be better for the szn honestly
This is really 2 to 3 months for full recovery and that's staying off the foot. It's a nagging injury. But a cortisone shot in the foot should numb the pain. It'll just hurt his ability to run the ball.
The chargers probably will need to make a trade, at the very least for a decent backup qb. The chargers have a pretty good team, but, I'm not sure decker is the answer at qb. So, jim harbaugh certainly should consider making a trade, trading a draft pick in 2025 or 2026 for a qb. Here's an idea, why not make a trade for joe flacco? He has won a super bowl and is a good qb, of the qbs on teams that are backups that the chargers could make a trade for, consider joe flacco, also another option would be to make a trade with the steelers for justin fields. I'd be interested in fields, especially with jim harbaugh, so fields and flacco are the two qbs that harbaugh and the front office should try to acquire before the season starts.
@Blondie4everMore you're probably right, but I was just trying to think of someone who would be a qb that would be able to run harbaugh's offense. I don't think that Herbert is the guy that harbaugh is gonna want and need if the chargers are gonna compete for a super bowl.
