it still boggles my mind that an animated series for this comic never came to fruition. This was so good and I would've totally been all over it but ... I guess there are some things that were never meant to be. I loved the game and enjoyed the movie though.
Well yeah actually we already got a game and a movie, you were even lucky enough to get a chance to play, I don't think we need a full-on Scott Pilgrim™️ franchise, it's just okay that way. And well we wouldn't also need that kind of a cartoon becuz it's just basically comic pages with only little slight changes. The whole episode is absolutely the same in the comic.

It never was meant to be one, it's literally in the title "Scott Pilgrim TAKES OFF" This isn't an adaptation, it is it's own thing that has Ramona and the evil ex's take stage, and done really well, it gives much wanted / needed development to the ex's and other characters, not to mention the animation is on point, and they retained the actors who played in the movie for the show, which is really cool consistency because they knew most people watching would have been fans from the movie, they didn't have to do that yet chose to.

Just announced that Netflix is finally doing a Scott Pilgrim animated show. Hopefully, they do it like this and make it look like the books, rather than redesign the characters.
*Spoilers for the books* After reading the books, I gotta say that the movie is like the "neutral ending" that doesn't explain much of anything but gives a solid story whereas the books are like the "true ending". Subspace, mentioned as a one-off joke in the movie and then used a few times for transitions is a MAJOR element in the books, used a hell of a lot more. Ramona was never the "girl of Scott's dreams", she literally just used his head to fast travel around the city and so they met a few times in his dreams. The 4th evil ex is really poorly translated into the film because of this. She literally just takes Envy's fight with Ramona and Roxy's original fight with Scott is removed where Scott fights her and Knives's father using the "power of love" sword seen in the Gideon fight. The ending and Gideon as a whole also fell flat because of this tbh. Ramona goes missing for a long while and even Gideon doesn't know where she is and he's surprised that Scott managed to fuck up the relationship by himself. I still dont particularly like how both the books and the film changed their endings late into development, but it is what it is. Still a really fucking good series and hey, Stephen Stills is gay.
The movie came first, only using the first 3 books as reference as the 4-6th books hadn't been out or made yet. the Author gave the director his outline and he modernized it off that
the movie came out before the books were finished so most of the stuff between the books and halfway through to the end of the movie dont mix very well and seem to contradict each other a bit, the game also seems to be a bit odd with the story as it tries to go by both the books and the movie (mainly the books) and some things once again somewhat contradict each other, if they had waited untill the books were complete before producing anything else we would have gotten seamless representations of the story through the books, movie, and game
I agree, if a video less than five minuets long gets over two million views on YOU TUBE then they should at least consider making a mini series of Scott Pilgrim vs the world inspired by the book. and if not Scott Pilgrim then they should use O'Malley's second book "Seconds"....
Because Scott was a butt when he was younger and totally had a thing for Lisa (though they never acted on it). That's why Kim is so apathetic towards him and says things like "Scott Pilgrim, you are the salt of the earth.... I'm sorry, I mean scum of the earth."
chris76335Gaming It all happened. Actually everything is as Scott remembered it until Kim told him that he never told her he was leaving and that he had actually told Lisa. The books get all into the details of everything. I highly recommend them.

This really shows what Michael Cera can actually do. I liked his performance in the movie but it didn‘t really represent the scott from the comics while imo here he plays him PERFECTLY
Yeah like, I think he did fine but he seemed to be playing classic cera and not scott in the movie. This felt perfect
I remember reading somewhere that the creator of the comic modeled Scott after Michael Cera after watching him in Arrested development
Michael Cera is my headcanon Scott voice. Like I couldn't even imagine anyone else voicing him. Playing him too, but Michael Cera didn't really stop being Michael Cera in that roll. But there's just something about that raspy, somewhat whiney voice that screams "asshole with a heart of gold" in the best way
I agree because in the movie it kind of felt like he was rehashing his character from super bad but in the three minute short he really comes into his own
And, honestly, it would be weird for me hearing anyone else's voice as Scott.
I love the detail of having Simon be voiced by Jason Schwartzman as a nod to Gideon screwing with Scott's memories.
I feel like Cera makes a better scott pilgrim in voice acting, rather than live action

He sure does. I was thinking who voiced this animation clip, he should have done the movie. In the movie he was talking too low. #notmyscott :)
I don't think Cera quite resembled Scott enough for the movie, but I think his voice is great for him.
I agree completely. Thank you for saying that.
Who do you think would make a better face for Scott?
The voice is a very nice match for the character, but, if we needed a face, I wouldn't go past
...Johnny Simmons. Who also played Young Neil in the movie.
I feel like Scott was made much more whimpy in the film for all the fighting he does. Scott from the books does take hits and lose and mopes around and all that, but he was still a cocky slightly arrogant guy. A bit like an early Sonic persona.

This isn't an adaptation, it is it's own thing that has Ramona and the evil ex's take stage, and done really well, it gives much wanted / needed development to the ex's and other characters, not to mention the animation is on point, and they retained the actors who played in the movie for the show, which is really cool consistency because they knew most people watching would have been fans from the movie, they didn't have to do that yet chose to.

This quote is straight from the graphic novel
*Spoilers for the books*
After reading the books, I gotta say that the movie is like the "neutral ending" that doesn't explain much of anything but gives a solid story whereas the books are like the "true ending".
I would like an ending that Scott ends up alone realizing how shitty he was to everyone around him
Like someone needs to call him out.
And wants a damn burrito, damn it.
