Pastor Nelson, you tore these verses from their biblical context. In the Matthew 7 passage, for example, the workers of lawlessness who stated their case to Christ had claimed obedience and good works to God as their ticket into heaven.. they say in verse 22: "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and DO MANY MIGHTY WORKS in your name?" They were submitted to His Lordship, but they were trusting in their good works to save them. They were literally Lordship Salvationists. They hadn't been truly born again through genuine faith in Christ, so they were still in their sins. Righteousness only comes by faith. Our faith is misplaced if our progressive obedience to His eternal will is proof that we're saved; we MUST look to the cross, no ourselves. As his ministry progressed, the Apostle Paul saw himself as a worse and worse sinner in more and more need of God's grace. He didn't view himself more highly.. He saw more of God's grace in his own life as he became progressively sanctified. First, he says the he's the least of the apostles (1 Cor. 5:9). Later in his ministry, he calls himself the least of the saints (Ephesians 3:8). Nearer to his end, he calls himself the chief of all sinners (1 Tim. 1:15). Paul clearly didn't place his faith in his changed life for salvation. Yet he was changed man because of his faith.
Also, no Lordship Salvationist that I've ever talked to or listened to has had assurance of their own salvation or has encouraged others to have assurance. But genuine saving faith is KNOWING that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, was buried, and was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. You cannot separate faith from assurance. But, if we're looking to our works to prove our salvation, we could NEVER KNOW with CERTAINTY that we have eternal life in His holy Name. Hebrews 11:1 says: "Now faith is the ASSURANCE of things hoped for, the CONVICTION of things not seen."
I don't know that I'm saved because I'm a changed man, I know I'm a saved man because Christ died for me.

@@judgedredd31 Saving faith isn't in good works- it's in Jesus Christ alone. But faith that is active results in a person that dies to themselves and lives for Christ. Before he was saved, Paul persecuted the early Christians with the self-righteous pharisees who rejected the Gospel. After coming to faith, he was a changed man. The Book of Acts tells the story.

@@2Chronicles714_ Paul said "repent of sin"? I'm not aware of where scripture says this, so perhaps you could cite the scripture, and the version you're using.
Please keep in mind, some versions have added in "repent of sin" specifically to make people think this. However, that's not what scripture says in the original Greek translation, which is a "change of mind." The word "repent" isn't even the right word to use, since it is a Latin-derived word meaning to feel sorry.

Correct. People that don't want to turn from their sin, don't want to grow and mature in their relationship with Jesus will be turned away as part of the "I never knew you" gang. You cannot change UNTIL you believe in JC as your salvation. At that moment the Holy Spirit indwells you enabling you to defeat sin.

Free grace is not easily believism
If a believer makes a sincere confession of faith in Jesus and genuinely repents of their sin, it will naturally follow that they'll _want_ to make Christ the lord of their lives. It doesn't mean that they _must,_ it just means that they _probably_ will.

Those people trusted in their works to be right with God. The mentality they should've had was, 'Lord you paid the price for my sin and are my mediator with the Father. I'm a sinner with your imputed righteousness.
Lordship salvation tells you to read your Bible everyday and thinks 2 Cor 13 means to examine yourself according to your sin. Not true.
All the books 📚 in the Bible direct you to remember what Christ has already done for you.

Jesus was clearly stating that even though these people did works they were not going to be allowed into heaven. Jesus was primarily focused on obedience to God by following God's law. What is God's law? The 10 commandments! You might say well, isn't Jesus contradicting himself? The answer is no. He isn't. He's making it clear that what comes first is obedience to God by following his law. ( 10 commandments) Then after you've been obedient to God's law, go out and do the works. Because as James wrote, faith without works is dead. Salvation comes by being obedient to God's law and having faith in Jesus. The works are like fruit of the faith we have in Jesus. That's why the Bible says "you will know them by their fruit"

I just heard Bryan Dellinger rebuke this and yet all I'm doing is reading my Bible , asking God in prayers and convo what he wants and then just trying my best to do this ..I'm a lordship servant now? I'm just a guy thankful Jesus would bother with me and I'm trying to not only obey him better but serve him and lead others to him. ..where do all these denomination and categories and all the other labels or words you can use for someone come from to begin with , I thought you simply were saved and believed the Bible you follow or not , vs , a million "different types of Christian's" God said we are one in Christ , one Lord one faith one baptism
The fact that Jesus came, his life and events were a turning point in history . He
said we should carry our crosses and follow him,as this world is fallen and we all have a cross (diffucilties etc ) .
Jesus freed as from the bondage and carried everyone's burden . If it wasn't from Him we would have never have the chance to be saved that way.

So all those times I disobeyed or struggled with particular areas of the flesh, that means I was never truly saved (even though I hated my sin, acknowledged that it was wrong, asked for mercy, and tried to not repeat the same mistakes - but eventually did)?
I need clarification about the difference between “remaining in sin” and “stumbling in many ways”.
I can list 100 ways over 20 years that I feel as if I failed The Lord/disobeyed. But I cannot list 100 “fruits of the Spirit” I may have demonstrated because I try not to “take note” of righteous deeds, because if I did any, that’s not for me to judge, and these would be attributed to His Goodness in me, anyway.
So I guess under this doctrine, I’ll spend the rest of my life wondering if Christ was on the throne of my life “enough” to warrant true faith on my part. Or, did the times I failed Him add so as to tip the scales in favor of me having “never been saved in the first place”?
What does faith in christ mean to you friend. What does belief in christ look like to you. Please be as detailed as possible.
Don’t overcomplicate things. Do you genuinely trust in Christ for salvation? If so, you are saved. Since you are saved, go and obey the Lord of your life. Mortify your flesh, repent where you do happen to sin and serve Him. Do remember, that you’re doing this because you ARE saved, not in order to BE saved. Those who are saved belong to Him and are His precious people! There is no better place to be. Now obey Him with love and gratitude in your heart. Peace! ✌🏼

For our brothers and sisters who have been deceived by false definitions of what belief is or find themselves in the wide road being specific is important. we should always exhort and encourage our brethren because sin entangles easily and deceives us all. If you dont understand belief as James defines it then this very troubling. Because then you have not really believed you are one of the people who approaches the lord on that day and he tells them to leave his Prescence or like the demon who not only knows of Gods existence far better than we do but believes that god is one but this doesnt change his heart or the 3 types of seeds that failed in the parable of the Sower of the seeds or end up living a life like judas so close to God yet so impossibly far so yes while the premise of salvation is really quite simple people get close to the kingdom but never enter because of many things when issues like this arise we should be as detailed as possible the clarity we should all seek in confirming our personal salvation should be used to help our brothers and sisters who havent quite heard a good enough reason to examine themselves beyond false doctrine or wrong principles of faith. And im certain that even though lordship vs free grace isnt a reason to call someone a heretic or kick them out of church a proper understanding of lordship salvation should be promulgated as it isnt a small issue. We should seek with all our might to obey. In fact one of the men accused of lordship salvation was used by god to clarify how to become more obedient recently and it was that the more i understood and grasped who god is as he reveals himself in scripture as i see mercy and goodness and faithfulness in my life and the unfathomable promises he makes to me and all of us this gives me joy and this joy leads to proper obedience and so i say that last portion for a couple reasons. Not all who preach lordship salvation are doing so for pharisaical reasons there are those who are trying to teach it for faith growing reasons and to warn us of the dangers of not seeking or wanting God to be in that place in our lives yes of course we are saved by grace alone and in order to earn salvation we need not do a thing thats already granted to us but as a marker to show if the gospel has actually produced that last seed of the parable of the sower and the seed or in easiest terms saving faith we should seek to examine ourselves has this release of sinful burdens and grace iam completely unfit for and constantly showing i dont deserve producing the fruit of the spirit producing fruit of repentance producing a spirit that seeks to be under the constant hand of the lord. We should not scorn our brothers that teach lordship salvation just as i dont think we should our free grace brothers if anything the two camps should come together as neither side if indeed the ones talking are genuine are wrong but must be understood together it is because we are under free grace that we seek lordship. @@childishumehara9890 Hey! I actually would say that I adhere to Lordship Salvation, so long as it is properly defined. The reason I gave such a short answer is because I think that a lot of navel-gazing occurs among genuinely saved Christians. There are times for self-examination, to make sure that one is in the faith. But sometimes this can get overly excessive to the point that a genuine believer never feels the joy and peace of salvation because they’re not thinking about salvation soundly, or they lack an understanding of God’s goodness and grace. Again, I’m not trying to discourage self-examination, but it should be done in a healthy way. The beautiful thing about it as well, is that if one discovers, through self-examination, that they may not be saved, salvation is only a step away. Repent, and trust in Christ as your Lord, God and Saviour and He will never let you down. Having genuinely placed your trust in Him, rejoice! For you are justified and secure in Him. The Holy Spirit will work within you to sanctify you and cause you to produce good fruit. Yield to Him and walk in righteousness!

In fact lordship vs grace even as important as they are smaller versions of what a Christian has to take in mind when evaluating themselves you wonder if you are being too nice on yourself or too harsh on yourself and as important as examination is ultimately i think its safe to say you should never make the final judgment call that you are saved but even in this trust that because he is who he says he is that this is your salvation. God's mind works beautifully. I have and still do experience this feeling of over examination/Navel gazing like you said most christians do. And as you say if you were to discover you weren't that doesn't mean pack your bags and leave it means however close you thought you were you can get closer and understand him more. Im a new believer ive only been converted for about 3 or 4 years now so finding fruit can seem impossible especially when you're in the face of a current sin. However, im slowly starting to learn what for every gaze you take at yourself take ten looks at Him means. Truly the knowledge of God is a wonderful thing. The gospel is the very power of God to those who are being saved. It was nice to talk to you. You have a sound mind you have a great friend and teacher with you.
Acts 5:32 states God gives the Holy Spirit to those who OBEY Him.
Hebrews 5:9 also says that HE became the author of eternal salvation to those who obey HIM.
I hate to think that I agree with anything that MacArthur believes in, but the Bible does teach lordship salvation apart from the Calvinistic nuances mentioned. The five points of Calvinism have no place in Christianity.
He rightly criticizes DECISIONAL REGENERATION, but then turns right around and embraces DECISIONAL REPENTANCE!🤣
Repentance is a change of heart wrought by God. It happens slowly over a lifetime, not instantly by man "making a TOTAL commitment."

No, it is not what the "church" has taught since the beginning. Christ Himself never taught that to surrender to Him as Lord would save you. Neither did any other Biblical writer. God saves us from the wrath of God on our sins for one reason and ONLY ONE REASON. It is because we understand our lost condition as hell-deserving sinners and we trust in the substitutionary atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ for our sins. I must admit my guilt to God as a sinner who's broken His laws and trust in the one and only remedy for my sins, the blood atonement of the "Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." It is AFTER that we should become disciples and serve the Lord. It is NOT anywhere a condition of believing in Him. Jesus did not teach that, period. Lordship is adding a condition to being saved from hell that is not in the Bible.

BUT we are going to be saved AFTER we die and God decides. Our deeds do not have worth in a sense of "saving us" , BUT they do show who we followed. Everyday is a chance to repent from God.
Don't get me wrong. Even if we did everything right(which obviously can't happen) we would still be undeserving of being where Jesus and God is.

Repentance is the evidence of truly believing.
What God wants is for all people to produce fruit to show they are genuine in their repentance.Only a person who has been convicted of sin with Godly sorrow will repent and believe in the gospel.If they aren't sorrowful and repentant over their sins they certainly won't believe,since they have no desire to be made right with God.Only people that are convicted and sorrowful to be right with God will come to Jesus acknowledge sin by repenting.

We SHOULD follow Christ and be His disciple and grow in the faith AFTER we get saved! How do we get saved? By faith ALONE. Turning from sin (not in the bible) and working for the Lord is NOT a requirement for salvation, otherwise, we would ALL be going to Hell.
Look, friend, I struggled to figure out what all this was about. I believed when I first came to the knowledge of what Jesus did for us, I knew at that moment, that it was the truth. However, I was unsure if I was born again and saved for eternity.
As I continued my walk, I tried my hardest not to sin, but I would sin everyday, trying not to. This brought me to crisis because I believed, but I thought I could lose my salvation for sinning, even though I didn't want to and I was in a lot of pain mentally and emotionally.
I then realised I didn't know what repentance actually was. I thought I had to keep repenting and turning from sin, and If I didn't, I would be left behind. Jesus would cast me out because I could not live up to the standard of perfection that He is, and was in my mind.
I searched and found that salvation and discipleship truly are separate.
We are either saved by faith or by works. It can not be both. Yes I agree, good works can be a good indication someone is in the faith, but there are many people who do good works, and do not know, trust or believe Jesus. So only god knows the heart.
Jesus says on the last day many will call him Lord (workers) but He will say to them, I NEVER knew you. They NEVER trusted him alone. Once you do, you are sealed to the day of promise. Once a son/daughter, always a son/daughter!
Can you sin and be chastised by god in this life, YES! But there is nothing I can do to forfeit being a son. I am born again once, as a son. I am not born over and over again by repenting every time I sin. Which is impossible anyway. What if you forget a sin?
How can we live up to perfection? How can our works save us, that would mean Jesus died for nothing. There are people who do amazing works for humanity every day and do not know Christ, they are not saved!!
Works do not indicate 100% a person is saved.
Wouldn’t the devil and the demons that King Jesus expelled “believe” in Who Jesus is? They acknowledge His Sovereignty yet, wouldn’t follow Him! Christ follower or Christian, not always the same meaning! Praise Jesus for this teaching

The fact that Jesus came, his life and events were a turning point in history . He

I just don’t get it how you would receive Jesus Christ is savior and then not want to. I’ll say feeling an allegiance or an obligation, or to show Christ that you love him with the fruits of your labors. It makes no sense to me that you would want to continue in the sin from which he saved you and Liv wickedly as opposed to trying to live to please himafter he saved you so that when he comes again, he will find faith on the Earth
Lordship 'salvation' is not the Biblical Evangel of faith alone in Christ's Finished Work alone. It is faith plus faithfulness (or works) and a slightly diluted version of Catholicism's gospel. Romanism lite if you like.

Works do not figure whatsoever to give us something to boast about and eternal life is guaranteed the split second one relies wholly and solely on Christ's death, burial and resurrection on their behalf. There is no debate now, since the publication of John Barclays "Paul and the gift" Theological work (or the popular level book "Paul and the power of grace"). Both Lordship salvation and cheap grace have different definitions of grace, but both emphases the wrong aspects than Paul did. Both misunderstood the perfection of grace, but both have elements of truth in. Better they are united and learn from each other. Pauls emphasis was that grace is a gift that is given without any regard to ones worth of any kind (works, status, ethnicity, moral standing) ..grace is incongrous. That's where Lordship salvation fail to emphasize..but the free gift of grace does n't ever come "without strings attached" .. it brings about a reciprocal relationship..(discipleship) so thats where cheap grace goes wrong.

That is essentially the error of the modern "Free Grace" movement.. The biblical idea of "Free gift" is in reference to the front end, it's available to all regardless their social capital (works, religion, status, gender). I wish the distinction would be made between easy believism and free grace. They are two different things. People who believe in lordship's salvation accuse people who believe in free Grace of preaching easy believism. As if you can just mouth a prayer and be saved. The gospel of free grace, which is the only true gospel, is not saying you can just mouth a prayer, but it is saying that if you truly believe in your heart and profess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord then you shall be saved exactly as the Bible says (Romans 10:9)

Lordship salvation turns faith in Jesus into a false religion. Please tell us exactly how you determine when you have reached holiness good enough for Jesus? Salvation comes first, then comes discipleship which encourages you to bear fruit but which is not required for salvation.

Notice, salvation produces the fruit of holy living (by your cooperation with His Spirit) and the expected result, eternal life.

But then see Hebrews 12:10,14. Sons that are accepted have received discipline and righted their ways to behave righteously and partake of holiness.
You don’t go from justification to glorification without living holy obedient lives, without holiness.
You either accept His chastenment and correct your ways, or you become a bastard.
This is the same as John 15:1-11. You either abide (obey) in the vine (in Christ words and His Spirit) or you are pruned, or you are cut off, and gathered for the fire.

There is no mention of the " the gospel" in the sermon on the mount. Have you heard of the law gospel distinction when studying the Bible? In mathew 7 it's plain that the wolves in sheep's clothing are false prophets or teachers. It say they look like sheep, so by how they act we can't tell who they are. What is the " fruit" of a teacher. Obviously what they saying or teaching. Later in the passage we see them and those who were decieved by thier false message, on that day, get turned away and Jesus said he never knew them. Lordship salvation teaches that salvation is pending the outcome of our lives, also that Jesus is the author of our faith but we are the finisher. I would agree however when we read passages such as Rom 12:1 & Eph 4:22; Col 3:8-10 and other relative passages, although the word repent is not used we find the very objective (and essence) being emphasized. If you think about it, the very idea of repentance is at the core of sanctification which I don't see according to scripture any saved person being exempt from. I mean it's like salvation and sanctification are two inseparable objectives. In other words, its like saying you cant have the cause without the effect. Look, friend, I struggled to figure out what all this was about. I believed when I first came to the knowledge of what Jesus did for us, I knew at that moment, that it was the truth. However, I was unsure if I was born again and saved for eternity.
As I continued my walk, I tried my hardest not to sin, but I would sin everyday, trying not to. This brought me to crisis because I believed, but I thought I could lose my salvation for sinning, even though I didn't want to and I was in a lot of pain mentally and emotionally.
I then realised I didn't know what repentance actually was. I thought I had to keep repenting and turning from sin, and If I didn't, I would be left behind. Jesus would cast me out because I could not live up to the standard of perfection that He is, and was in my mind.
I searched and found that salvation and discipleship truly are separate.
We are either saved by faith or by works. It can not be both. Yes I agree, good works can be a good indication someone is in the faith, but there are many people who do good works, and do not know, trust or believe Jesus. So only god knows the heart.
Jesus says on the last day many will call him Lord (workers) but He will say to them, I NEVER knew you. They NEVER trusted him alone. Once you do, you are sealed to the day of promise. Once a son/daughter, always a son/daughter!
Can you sin and be chastised by god in this life, YES! But there is nothing I can do to forfeit being a son. I am born again once, as a son. I am not born over and over again by repenting every time I sin. Which is impossible anyway. What if you forget a sin?
How can we live up to perfection? How can our works save us, that would mean Jesus died for nothing. There are people who do amazing works for humanity every day and do not know Christ, they are not saved!!

Has anyone here tried to find or seek christ in intense suffering and chronic illness, so much our life is on the line and we have been traumatized and our minds and brains, all around our whole being has been effected? How does one find jesus with medical trauma that has caused an intense fear of death, was not also taught who the real god was during this time, everyone said i would be healed, i didnt know any better til 9 yrs into this looking back i was brainwashed and warped spirutually, i feel im learning things to late in the game, im terrified of going to hell, i struggle daily physically mentally spiritually emotionally, its hard to find or grasp spiritual things when everything is broken and freaking out on the inside, so exhausted confused foggy feels like im being poisoned and have brain damage, im having a hard time and so scared im going to die and go to hell, never had anyone to disciple me right in the beginning of this, everyone says something different on salvation and i have been confused in scriptures for years especially the sicker ive got, how does one let go when youre afraid of hell and youre so sick your mind is off and suffering so intense it makes it hard to be a human in every way, struggling writing this now, i feel so alone and scared and confused in this battle, idk how much more time god is going to grant me, my memory has also been severely impaired so i cant remember or think back to what I heard or where my heart was and went after i ended up in church and baptized, i dont look like other Christians, theres so much out there on healing but not on chronic illness and it affecting ones spirit mind soul heart, so scared, idk where to start or how to get where i want, dont feel right, wasnt always like this, is there anyone else out there that can relate?

I agree as I know scripture too well not to. However, at the same time I struggle with the whole narrative. In other words, if I take a bullet for someone else that person is saved from what would have most likely been death. Even if they spit on my dead body and never do anything in the positive since other than being glad that it was me and not them, well that person is still saved as saved can be from the consequences of a bullet. Or, let's say I gave them a million dollars which redeemed them from all their debt. Now they did choose to accept the money gladly but however, did nothing in return other than continue serving selfish motives. Assuming they did pay off all their debt, they still have redemption in that since. No matter how they lived from their forward they are redeemed.

When parents accept the Full Lordship Reformed 5-point Calvinist salvation! This is how they teach their kids about it.

This was an interesting overview but one key area that I believe was glossed over is when Jesus spoke about the 'narrow gates' In Matt 7:13-14 (Parrellel verse in Luke 13:24. The way this video treated that verse makes it seem like salvation is a narrow road that we must follow to know we are saved. The way I am reading it and reading chapter 7 as a whole, I don't read it that way. The decision of going through the Wide gate and Narrow Gate is a decision that ONLY CHRISTIANs make. Unbelievers go through the Wide Gate all the time. It is only because in Faith, and only by the Grace of God through Jesus Christ that we are saved, that we have the means to choose to go through the narrow gate. Unlike Jesus though, we unfortunately do not choose the narrow gate always. I believe Jesus is warning Christians to choose the Narrow Gate always. It will be hard but choose it and not the Wide Gate that our old nature and the world advocates. Jesus teaches that believers are the Salt of the World. If we are saltless, we do become useless but Jesus never said we lose our salvation. Let's encourage each other, like Paul did, to pick up the cross DAILY, walk the Narrow Gate DAILY.

We don't deserve to be saved but Jesus did not die on the cross to forgive us and save us just so God could hold a grudge and make us feel guilty because we don't deserve to be saved after we become Christians either. It pleased God to suffer for our sake , that in Christ all humanity could receive the gift of eternal life without obligation by what he did ( Isaiah 53:10-11) and not by what we think that we need to do for him by our works of righteousness but according to his grace and mercy we were justified and have become heirs of eternal life. All Lordship Salvation really says is that James chapter 2 is not wrong. Saving faith actually looks like saving faith, and dead faith looks like dead faith. Lordship salvation says that the HS really does work in you: God is powerful and truly changes us from he inside out.
Easy believism instead says:
- that we can be empty jars of clay never used for God’s purposes and that’s fine
- we can abide in Him but not really and it’s all good.
- The path to heaven actually wide, not straight and narrow. No need to “pick up any cross” just say the prayer then carry on with your godless life, carnal Christians are fine.

My good works don't prove that I am a Christian, my good works are what flow out of me because of my identity in Christ. Call it what you want but we are saved by grace through faith. Abiding is believing. When we have believed, we have already picked up our crosses when we accepted Jesus Christ by grace through faith. Our position in Christ does not change according to our flesh, our position and identity in Christ never changes according to his promises. When we accept Jesus Christ by grace through faith, God truly changes us from the inside out spiritually not physically. We still live in the flesh. It is our spiritual position and identity that has changed and not our flesh.

The whe point of not being able to go back into our mothers womb is that would be the only way we could change our flesh. Also we see it says "all things have changed", not you should see some changes in your life. This evidenced in luke 13 were the pharisee spoke of his good life, lack of sin etc, and the tax collector simply said lord have mercy on me a sinner, and says he was the one justified.

We cannot just have people recite a prayer from Romans 10:9,10 and think they really understand the meaning of the full commitment of a disciple making Jesus their Lord and following Him.
Some might say, “Jesus is Lord” or confess “Jesus as Lord” or confess “the Lord Jesus”, but unless you explain John 1 to them, they aren’t going to get the idea of this confession being Jesus is LORD (GOD Almighty), i.e. HIs Deity. The more common understanding is Jesus must become your Lord, nor Master, your Teacher, and you His student, His slave, and you agree to follow Him in what He says.
This is the clear meaning of John 15:1-11 and Hebrews 12, where the consequence of not following Christ in obedience (abiding) in His words (Jesus’s call of discipleship) and in His Spirit, then we face either being pruned or disciplined, or cut off, and become bastards.
The Lord Jesus expects those who follow Him to be holy as He is holy, to live out holiness, sanctification, and righteousness because of His indwelling Spirit living inside of the born again disciple.
His Spirit is available (and given) only to those who obey Him (Acts 5:32b).
Being born from above (born-again) is the creation of a new temple suitable for which Christ Spirit may occupy. Afterwards, like a house cleaned up, it must be dedicated to the Lord’s service. Water immersion is symbolic of the identification of the death of the old life, repentance of sin, and the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, where the disciple has reckoned Himself with Christ on the cross, in burial, and in resurrection from the dead to new life.
Each Ask for and expect to Receive the Holy Spirit to possess you, to inhabit and live inside of you as His Temple. Expect to know Him inside of the new you, for you to abide in Him in his vine, and worship Him in Spirit and Truth, to draw upon His power, His gifts, joy, peace, righteousness, strength and produce the fruit of righteousness in your life as you love Him and others, spreading the good news.

I actually prepared a message for my small church that one day I might get to teach - and my message went right along with lordship salvation, even though I didn't realize it.
For 18 years I was a "Christian" apologist, claiming Christ as Savior but never as Lord. I was not following Him, was not surrendered to Him, and did not have ANY fruits. I was a Matthew 7 "Christian". I listened to some of MacArthur's sermons and he was quoting some of the same Scripture in my message. Amen!

We SHOULD follow Christ and be His disciple and grow in the faith AFTER we get saved! How do we get saved? By faith ALONE. Turning from sin (not in the bible) and working for the Lord is NOT a requirement for salvation, otherwise, we would ALL be going to Hell.
Look, friend, I struggled to figure out what all this was about. I believed when I first came to the knowledge of what Jesus did for us, I knew at that moment, that it was the truth. However, I was unsure if I was born again and saved for eternity.
As I continued my walk, I tried my hardest not to sin, but I would sin everyday, trying not to. This brought me to crisis because I believed, but I thought I could lose my salvation for sinning, even though I didn't want to and I was in a lot of pain mentally and emotionally.
I then realised I didn't know what repentance actually was. I thought I had to keep repenting and turning from sin, and If I didn't, I would be left behind. Jesus would cast me out because I could not live up to the standard of perfection that He is, and was in my mind.
I searched and found that salvation and discipleship truly are separate.
We are either saved by faith or by works. It can not be both. Yes I agree, good works can be a good indication someone is in the faith, but there are many people who do good works, and do not know, trust or believe Jesus. So only god knows the heart.
Jesus says on the last day many will call him Lord (workers) but He will say to them, I NEVER knew you. They NEVER trusted him alone. Once you do, you are sealed to the day of promise. Once a son/daughter, always a son/daughter!
Can you sin and be chastised by god in this life, YES! But there is nothing I can do to forfeit being a son. I am born again once, as a son. I am not born over and over again by repenting every time I sin. Which is impossible anyway. What if you forget a sin?
How can we live up to perfection? How can our works save us, that would mean Jesus died for nothing. There are people who do amazing works for humanity every day and do not know Christ, they are not saved!!
Works do not indicate 100% a person is saved.

Let's get some things straight - I fully believe we are justified by faith alone through Christ - there is no such thing as "salvation by works".
However, there is dead faith, which does not lead to salvation or repentance, and there is living, saving faith (see James) that always leads to repentance and good works.
So then we ask : What is real, saving faith? Is there such a thing as non-saving "faith" ?
You seem to have the same type of understanding of faith that many do -- faith that Christ has covered our sins, and then hopefully discipleship (or 'good works') comes later as a result of that faith but if it doesn't, then that's no big deal. Basically 'Level 1' and 'Level 2" Christians in a rough sense.
I can tell you now my friend, that's not the case. I was a "Level 1" Christian for 18 years. I fully, truly "believed" (in the non-Biblical sense) that Christ is God, died for my sins, and that I was saved. I was an apologist and argued this fact (and many others) countlessly.
The problem is - I had absolutely no heart for Christ - yet I fully believed the truth of Scripture. I did not repent, though occasionally I felt bad about doing dumb things. I did not chase after Christ and His nature, His heart, or His ways because I had "easy believe-ism" -- I fully and truly believed in Christ, therefore I could live however I wanted. I didn't care about anyone's salvation, I was full of pride that I was smart enough to have my own salvation -- I was in deep, DEEP deception, full of lust, anger, jealousy, pride.
I was a Matthew 7 believer. Jesus's name was on my lips, but my heart was far from Him.

I urge you, strongly strongly, read those passages and look at the interplay between faith and works. They're inseparable. Saving faith will result in fruit of the Spirit, manifested in works for the glory of God. These works are done out of a love for Christ and recognition He's Lord.

@@commonchristian917 You laid out a concise Scripture presentation which is great. Sometimes, i think boiling down a theology to a phrase or a word creates a lot of confusion. I am not saying John MacArthur has done this as I have not listened to too many of his sermons nor read his books, but I have had MacArthur advocates describe Lordship Salvation as 'both being needed' to get salvation. That is incorrect from a Biblical standpoint. It is Faith Alone by Grace in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, that is the only qualification for salvation. The fruits, good works, repentance, we are able to do these things as we are Christians first, and those follow. Could someone that professes to follow Jesus and continue to sin not be a true believer? Sure, but only Jesus knows the heart of a person and whether that person is in the book of life or not. We are to encourage others and we can certainly rebuke actions, but to say that if you don't have xyz works, you are not a Christian, that is not Biblical. Plenty of people of action that did seemingly good works that were not true believers. Judas as a prime example. The Church of Sardis as another.
Bible does tell us while for a true believer, faith and works is inseparable, but only one is the cause of our salvation. And many people have the other (works) that are not saved, that walk among us in the church.

You mix any works into being saved, you don’t understand the Gospel, Grace or Repentance. Repentance is a change of mind. God repented. Does that mean God repented of His sin? Of course not!

I believe this. People take a few words from Romans and think that’s it. James is also in the New Testament so is Peter so is John. So is Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. And if you actually read all of Paul you will see he always follows up the by faith alone stuff with a reminder that he’s not giving out a license to sin.
No scriptural basis for lordship salvation. It assumes so much about what a saved man will do, all the while judging others. It is essentially works to get saved. The Bible tells each Christian to make his(own) calling and election sure. Not another’s. Stay in your lane. And yes, I believe once truly saved, always truly saved.
This is very confusing. I suggest you listen to Hank Lindstrom he has passed away. He talks about lordship salvation that makes it very understandable.

It's because, sadly, he's steeped in Dogmatic 5 point Calvinism. He believes he was unconditionally elected, which is where God, from eternity past, chose some to be saved and others to be damned. Likewise, this view promulgates that every decision/choice (Yes!, EVERY!) they make was determined/decreed by God as well, because if not, then it has no purpose, and if a choice has no purpose then God isn't Sovereign.
Since he's part of that "elect", naturally Grace is irresistible via Combatibilism. Compbatibilism is where God endows them with only 1 desire to do something, not two choices, however, since it's a genuine desire it's considered "free will", regardless that they only had one choice to begin with, hence God's Sovereignty and Determinism remains intact.
Finally, if they've been unconditionally elected, and irresistibly called, that means that their faith isn't a response to God per se, but rather, it came directly from God. In other words, Faith is a gift that God must decree someone to receive, and only the "elect" receive it. Their is no Whosoever will; only the "elect" who were predetermined from eternity past. Therefore, if God gave them faith, then naturally and without question their life will demonstrate faith of the highest quality and maturity which ALWAYS leads to a life dominated by holiness and fruit, aka, Perseverance of the Saints.

No scripture in God's word states that you must "repent of your sin to be saved." Repent, yes, CHANGE YOUR MIND, YES, but pledge to no longer sin, NO. The thief on the cross did not pledge to no longer sin, yet he was saved. We should stand against sin, YES, but doing so is not a required prerequisite for salvation. THIS IS HOW WE ARE SAVED...

Faith without works on our part for salvation. Christ's death on the cross, burial, and resurrection was sufficient, so we trust the faith of Christ in his shed blood. He does the change in us through his spirit. What you teach was and will be for the Jewish nation in the coming age. But now our salvation today is thru Paul's gospel as taught to him by Jesus himself for Jew and gentiles until the fullness of time. If you don't understand the mysteries taught to Paul or reject it; you remain lost. By the way if you're hanging on to the new modern versions they like to call bibles which are so corrupted; you won't understand beginning with 2Timothy 2:15 rightly dividing God's dispensations of Grace throughout the bible.

The change is the Holy Spirit in you! Your salvation is not of any works. I think you’re misdefining your counter point “easy believeism” is an oxymoron. For according to your definition it creates a contradiction. Fact is if there is no change there is no Holy Spirit in a person’s heart.

Salvation is a free gift. Discipleship is costly. It false teaching to mix the two.
The problem with the two stands is that it isolates one over the other. Some of the Easy-believism beliefs has been defined as opposed with lordship salvation, and so is in the case with lordship salvation to easy-believism.
These two are man-made failure summary of salvation. A failure .
