Those who are not qualified get presumed or imbued with the air of credibility set by the ones who are.
If you've been following the JRE Podcast since the beginning you'll know the transformation from a comedy podcast to a conspiracy podcast has been quite sad. The amount of people who believe everything that Joe Rogan says just because he's a famous person on the internet is astounding and disturbing.

My take was that Jaime googled it as Rogan was doing his spiel and interjected the comment after he found out it was a hoax. You're supposed to do that before the host goes off on a rant from an unverified tweet. A rookie mistake Rogan keeps making because he wants so badly for his BS to be validated as does his audience. You might let that happen once out of ignorance, but for a platform with this reach on a show worth hundreds of millions those protocols should have been in place after the first incident.

Thankyou all at MR for consistently pushing back against this stuff so well. We can laugh off these influencers all we want but the reality is as Sam said: They have such a large platform that their impact on public discourse and behaviour has the capacity to cause massive harm. I’m at the point now where I believe the anti vax disinfo is so ubiquitous that it is actually keeping us stuck in this pandemic and hence leading to so many more lost lives globally.
Do you believe vax disinfo has caused any harm or done anything to keep us in this pandemic? For example, Rachel Maddow said if you're vaccinated you won't get sick. She has a large platform. Would it be reasonable to think that people who heard that, allowed themselves to be exposed to more risks thinking they were safe? Or what about Biden putting out vaccine mandates which increased the problem of understaffing in critical jobs like health care and law enforcement. For a time, places like CA were saying it was OK for nurses that tested positive for COVID to still go to work as long as they don't have symptoms. Wouldn't that expose the sick to covid thus causing more harm? Or how about vaccinated people don't need to test as often. Think about how long a vaccinated person could walk around with covid passing it along because they didn't realize they had it until it was too late. Do you think that could have prolonged the pandemic? Or how about allowing companies to patent their vaccines so hundreds of millions of people could not access the vaccine in a timely manner. Do you think that could have prolonged the global pandemic? Or how about the notion that you don't vaccinate people during a pandemic as it allows the virus to mutate more. Do you think that could have prolonged the pandemic. Which speaking of, our president said we are no longer in a pandemic, so would that be antivax disinfo or were you wrong to say we are still stuck in this pandemic?

The problem is precisely that JRE is such a mixed bag. Rogan does frequently have on legit experts with relevant advanced degrees and experience. But then will also have on or will plug the Twitters or blogs of self-proclaimed 'gurus' like the Ancient Aliens dude or Robb Wolf, who claims to have been a "research biochemist" but you know what that means? He experimented with some stuff his garage. Never formally employed as a research biochemist. The drug culture calls persons who self-experiment with synthetic drugs "research chemicals" or "research chemists". i.e. people who f-ing make drugs in their basement or garage but never rise to the level of proper documentation, proper study protocols, and never publish real papers.
They follow him because apparently he’s the only one not afraid to tell the ‘truth’ and not be a sheep lol
I kinda miss the days when conspiracy theories were shit like "Paul McCartney's been dead since 197-something, because he's barefoot on the cover of Abbey Road and wearing blue on the cover of Sargent Pepper:"

None of his audience thinks he's a genius also hes high most of the time lol, but he does bring up good points and is willing to have a conversation.

I love how Jammie let him get all the way through his sob story before telling him it wasn't his son.
@@glovere2 I'm pretty sure Jamie was told to stop interupting their flow. he usedddd to interject and say when something was wrong.

So, I'm curious. Why do you think the Canadian government and other governments have started funds to help people injured by the vaccine??
