- MMA journalist Ariel Helwani has responded to commentator Joe Rogan’s comment about him during a recent podcast episode.
Helwani and Rogan are two of the most prominent presences in combat sports today. Rogan has made a name for himself as a comedian, podcaster, and UFC commentator, while Helwani is arguably the most well-known MMA journalist.

Rogan, during a recent The Joe Rogan Experience episode with Belal Muhammad, weighed in on Sean Brady’s comments on The MMA Hour in which he alleged he received death threats before UFC 280. While talking about it with Muhammad, Rogan questioned Brady’s remarks and also hinted that Helwani lured it out of him. After one fan brought up Rogan’s comment during his show, Helwani didn’t take long to respond. #JoeRogan #ArielHelwani

In Ariel's defense, it's easy to overreact when a guy that's potentially the most influential dude in the space reduces you to a single sentence. But yeah, his comments on Joe are just stupid as fuck hahaha

Now he is a hypocrite for lying about Joe, whose strengths as a podcaster, outlined recently by Dr. Peterson, are being intelligent enough to admit his ignorance on topics, listening, and asking questions the listener would want asked, in order to create a positive environment.

The problem with what he did is that he released info that the company wanted to release in a big media event. He fucked the UFC on that one. He knew what he was doing, but then did his usual victim complex schtick when he got called out for it. He's a snake in the grass.

He reported news that he had, the same way a journalist from another sport would break news about a player possibly moving to a new team or contract discussions, a a news reporter writing about an upcoming government announcement etc. It's literally his job to do it. If he was an employee of the ufc, youd have a point but he's not. He wouldnt have been doing his job if he didnt report it. As for being a snake in the grass, that's just beyond stupid man

Ufc allowed Ariel in on shit because they though they could trust him. A privilege no one else had and he took advantage of that. He released the Nate and Brock shit despite knowing they wanted to advertise it after the event. He isn't a child, he knew exactly what he was doing
Ariel also seems to always pick against or undersell all of Ali's fighters except Kayla Harrison since she goes on his show.
Ariel is sensitive in a bad way, and he hold grudges, likes to make issues but always deny all that and always gets over defensive, very contradictory

I definitely think Ariel is overreacting. He's clearly emotional and is making talking points that are completely irrelevant. He's been a class act for years, but his recent string of drama has left him on edge and probably feeling himself more than before, so I think he may be trying to ride this wave to get things off his chest when he really doesn't have any a right to.

I watched the Joe Rogan episode in question, it was no big whoop. Ariel admitted not watching the episode and overreacted to the comment by getting emotional and rambled on way to long about it.

Knowing some of Ariel's history you know that he's been picked on throughout his life and his time in MMA media. At some point he stopped taking it and started fighting back. Good for him but he's gone over the edge a bit lately and has gotten too sensitive to criticism. It'll likely be his undoing if he doesn't dial it back some.
