"Return to Neverland" is such a worthy sequel to "Peter Pan". The use of the Blitz in WWII really added depth to the story and Jane's character. Shows how war can sadly cause kids to grow up faster than usual.

"The Lion King 1½" was my childhood! Totally deserves as much attention as the original! I really like how it managed to play out the POVs of Timon and Pumbaa into the settings of the 1994 film. Like they were only gonna get their own TV spin-off......

The lion king 1 1/2 was stupid, as 2 wild animals, pumbaa and timon shouldn't even know what a television and a remote control is, Disney must have been too proud of the original Lion king that they try to make it look like it has the best genre in general, the lion king trilogy is pretty overrated.

I'm partial to "Jungle Book 2", myself--by the end of the first film, Mowgli only walked into the Man Village through feminine wiles--he learned nothing. In the Sequel, however, he learns about what it means to learn how things aren't always black and white--even after returning to the jungle. I think it's a decent film to teach us that it's okay to have both (memories of the past and hope for the future).

I think the stories are super beautiful, heart-warming, funny and compelling. They're just all well crafted sequels that don't get appreciated enough considering what they are. Lady and the Tramp 2, I thought was different enough from the first film that it didn't feel like a re-hash. I bring this up because I've seen people complain the story was too similar to the first and that music is not great. The music is great in all of these in my opinion.

When I think of underrated Disney sequels, I tend not to include Pixar (particularly popular Pixar movies because TS2 gets WAY more love and appreciation than TS4 for sure). There is one movie I ALWAYS list among underrated Disney sequels and I think it speaks volumes that it's not even an honorable mention.
Just because the predecessor wasn't as beloved, doesn't mean the successor should be overlooked. RESCUERS DOWN UNDER is a great example of that

Based on what you said about Toy Story 2 getting way more love and appreciation than Toy Story 4, I think Toy Story 2 should’ve been swapped with Toy Story 4 because I know that it gets too much hate because people think that Toy Story 4 was an unnecessary sequel, but I don’t think it deserves that hate, and I like how it offers closure to Woody’s story and we get to see Bo Peep again, hence why it would make more sense for it to be on this list more than Toy Story 2.
Also what other animated movie series has consistent good ratings with every single sequel, Toy Story 1 has 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, Toy Story 2 has 100% on Rotten Tomatoes as well, Toy Story 3 has 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, and even Toy Story 4 has 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, that’s the best track record of all animated movies, (let’s forget about Lightyear, it doesn’t even feel like it really fits with Toy Story anyways ironically, and it’s probably getting a sequel of its own.) and the only movies that come close are the How to Train your Dragon movies, the first movie has 99% on Rotten Tomatoes, the second movie has 92% on Rotten Tomatoes, and the third movie has 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is still very impressive.
Also funnily enough I actually watched all Toy Story movies just yesterday because I’m doing a marathon of watching my 100 favorite movies lol. Also I totally agree with you about Rescuers Down Under as well.

Melody was just like me as a kid, only, I'm not a princess and my hair is brown. Otherwise, I had 3 coloring books, the VHS and the CD-ROM game. It was second grade when I first saw it and fell in love with it. As for other sequels, I enjoy Return to Neverland, Cinderella 2 and the Chronicles of Narnia series, but my #1 is The Santa Clause 2. It truly captures Scott as a father and the legendary figure we all know and love, while looking at how grownups need to heal and believe in the spirit of Christmas just as much as children do.

When you think about it, Peter Pan 2 was kind of gutsy for having it actively take place during WW2. Obviously, the movie doesn't name any names, but it's pretty obvious to anyone who learned about WW2 in school. I know Disney back in the 40's wasn't afraid to dive into WW2 and general unpleasantries in animation (wasn't there a whole Donald Duck short where he was literally trying to escape the nazis?), but this movie was made in 2002, when major censorship in animation, especially Disney animation, was becoming pretty strict. I'm just saying that considering the time in which this movie was made, Disney showing a direct and pretty blatant reference to WW2 at the beginning of the movie (with all the destroyed areas of London and the bomb shelter, ect.) Is kind of the equivalent of a slasher film by 2000's Disney standards.

I actually saw Lilo and Stitch 2 on the big screen once in 2005. My hometown showed it for a free canned good movie. The whole auditorium was packed with families. What made it better was that I was on a water park resort vacation in that town. I miss the early 2000’s.

I should be expecting sequel movies for “The Princess and the Frog”, “Tangled”, “Big Hero 6”, “Zootopia”, “Moana”, “Raya and the Last Dragon”, “Encanto”, and a few others! We definitely need those sequels including some official theatrically-released animated movie sequels to some of their animation canon movies from Walt Disney Animation Studios!

The Lion King 2, The Jungle Book 2, Brother Bear 2, Tarzan & Jane, Aladdin Return Of Jafar, Aladdin And The King Of Thieves, and Lilo & Stitch 2, which I prefer over the original Lilo & Stitch are all underrated Disney sequels. Disney may not be good at making sequels, but those are movies that I happen to enjoy watching. Also I haven't watched Beauty And The Beast The Enchanted Christmas, and I already know that I'll enjoy the movie when I do watch it for the holidays this year.

Incredibles 2 is another Disney sequel that's underrated. It's the highest grossing Pixar movie and no surprise to that because of how much it was hyped up, but the critical reception was so divisive. I get the hate for it but I just think the movie is so overly-hated.

As unsurprised as I was to see “Beauty & The Beast ll: The Enchanted Christmas” starting off the list as #10, I would’ve been even less surprised to see “Beauty & The Beast lll: Belle’s Magical World” start off the list instead. This is mostly because despite the 3rd installment being a slight critical improvement over the 2nd, it’s painfully obvious that most critics & audiences would agree that “Beauty & The Beast lll: Belle’s Magical World” is a lot more forgettable than “Beauty & The Beast ll: The Enchanted Christmas”.

Return to Neverland was actually pretty decent for what it was worth. BABTEC was absolutely amazing! Tim Curry did a phenomenal job, Bernadette Peters was annoyingly hilarious in a way that makes sense.
LATT2 was a cute sequel that allowed us a glimpse into what happens when a previously-bad-boy is allowed to find his princess and settle down.
Aladdin and the King of Thieves was a beautiful finish to an already hit classic.
The Lion King 1 1/2 was a clever little in-between-quel that managed to put a new spin on an old classic.
TLM2 (imho) was better than Cinderella 2 and 3.
An Extremely Goofy Movie was a hilarious sequel to an already amazing movie.
Toy Story 2 was where the franchise lost me (to the point where I haven't even seen Toy Story 3 or 4).

For me Frozen 2 is criminally underrated. Yeah I know it grossed $1 billion or something, but I mean people’s opinion and not the box office success. I saw the sequel dealing with more serious issues than the original and being much more mature & dramatic, but the majority misses catchy songs and gags in it. That’s sad.

  • @JBDude52

    Top 3 (In my opinion):
    1. Toy Story 2
    2. Monsters University
    3. The lion king 1 1/2
You guys have the right top 3 in my opinion. These are all great, even after the original movies were master pieces the sequels are still fantastic. It is so rare to have a sequel called 1 1/2, it probably makes sense since the story takes place in between scenes of the first movie. I honestly prefer my favorite Toy Story movies in number order (1, 2, 3, 4), the reason I prefer 2 over 3 is because was the design and music were better than the third movie, I like the old computer animated design, it also had better new characters, including Jessie, Bullseye and Wheezy. One of my favorite moments in Toy Story 2 was the bloopers, I laughed so hard watching these, I couldn't help watching them over and over again, but other than that, the best part of movie was when she loved me, it was so touching, I feel everybody can relate to this growing up as time flies.

    • @kristinahuchison2511
      @kristinahuchison2511 ปีที่แล้ว

For me, I’m going to be completely honest. I feel Pocahontas didn’t need a sequel because of the sad ending, like a piece of me views that Pocahontas and John Smith sadly never saw each other ever again, while the other 80% of me says they eventually reunited and finally got their happily ever after. It’s not just her choosing Rolfe that made me hate it, it was a very poorly written story. Like I even tried watching it without being biased that Pocahontas and John Smith are my favorite Disney couple, and I still can’t find anything good to say about Rolfe. Their love feels so crammed and undeveloped, given he doesn’t “like” her until she’s a civilized lady. They also spent 4 months stuck together on a ship, but don’t bother to get to know each other, given they’re partners. The music just bored or annoyed me except Where Do I Go, not even Between Two Worlds could save the score. The animation and art is horrendous, given Poca’s skin is more chocolate milk instead of copper/redskin. And I absolutely hate they deliberately ruined Smith’s character into being an immature jealous ex to make it look like Rolfe was the better man who actually cared about her. Like it had nothing to do with the real Pocahontas seeing him again in London, they only kept Smith alive to trap her in another f*@ing love triangle. Ratcliffe got reused as the villain and couldn’t even manage to be a little more threatening, despite the king believed his lies. But what made her choosing Rolfe even worse was Disney couldn’t even give us a proper breakup scene. That Pocahontas and John Smith do still love and deeply care about each other, but unfortunately they both want different things and sadly can’t make each other truly happy, so they agree to just be friends and wish each other happiness, knowing this is the last time they’ll ever see each other again.
Like the only scene of the movie I actually loved was the part she’s teasing Nakoma in the snow, and her winter outfit is so cute! While I really love Where Do I Go as a mature love song about learning to let go, unfortunately it served as a lame excuse to not show Pocahontas being told Captain John Smith unfortunately didn’t survive his injury. I would’ve loved to see her processing grief, it’s not like grief was too serious or mature for children, given the Lion King.
If Pocahontas and John Rolfe’s relationship had actual substance and growth and it felt real, it wouldn’t have been nearly as hated. Given unfortunately the reason was because of historical accuracy
