I’ve been watching TH-cam since Tuesday night, & Willie has gotten A LOT of attention. My local news here in central Florida also covered it.
& the Fox sports baseball game today at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama, had a 2+ hour pregame show, all about Willie Mays

Willie would have had more homers than Aaron, had he played in Aaron`s parks.

He is the best player to ever play the game period. He had a 301 lifetime batting average and he had 660 home runs, 1,909 RBIs and 3,283 hits. He also stole 336 bases and had 12 gold gloves. Babe Ruth may have had more home runs, but Willie Mays had more hits, stolen bases and gold gloves than Babe Ruth. In fact Babe Ruth did not even have any gold gloves.

I think he is more like the LeBron James of Baseball, because like LeBron he had longevity and played for 20+ years. Willie wasn't just good at one thing, he like LeBron was good at many things. Willie Mays could hit for high average with a 301 lifetime batting average, he could hit for power with 660 home runs, 1,909 RBIs and he had 3,283 hits, he could run the bases with 336 steals and he could play the field with 12 gold gloves.

Russo I had a child that’s only 22 years old? & I thought Letterman was old when he had a kid.

Ain’t no need for the “pound for pound” proviso. Mays and Ruth were the two best. Mays was the better all around player, and the better showman. I’ll take Willie.

I really don't follow why Chris says that Willie was'nt that much of a good hitter. The man banged 660 homers in his career. And if it was'nt for the Korean War he would have had more and passed Ruth first!

When a player has a career .301 batting average, he's definitely a GOOD hitter! Mays is the GOAT!

660 Home runs not good hitting?
