“To prove gods wrath was undeserved” bros voice is actualy majestic. I heard this and had to listen back. One of the most impressive vocals I’ve heard in just the word wrath
So, I'm in a literature seminar where the focus is "revenge, vengeance and justice in literature" and I jokingly told my professor he got this song stuck in my head. So he asked me to send it to him. So now you know what's in my head when we're having our class discussions on hamlet and also my prof will never know peace from me.
I honestly would kill just to have sheet music for Justice. Arranging the harmonies on the chorus is so difficult as someone with terrible relative pitch. Absolutely beautiful song!
Agreed! Sheet music would be so awesome! I just figured out how the beginning is played, but that is isolated piano... I loose all sense of pitch as soon as vocals and other instruments join in:/
"For all that I've said And all that I've done Was worthless at best, and at worst it did harm When I gave my all, for everyone else I can see in the end, it was all for myself" Fuck man these lyrics hit me hard, shit like this is like my worst fear about myself.
I wish Woe to Me was longer😭😭 the message of (how understand to mean any way) truly seeing just how crooked our hearts can be, that our harm towards others cannot be undone, it's cosmic. We all deserve judgement.
This song alongside with Irony near damn give me an existential crisis every time I listen. Deadass I don't even listen to Irony anymore because I feel extremely personally called out every time. Maybe I should listen to it every day.
Completely unrelated but you guys have the best lower brass section especially in seaward suffragets and we forgot we were human especially the trombone i imagine bass trombone, like dam the way the trombones split the horn just has such great tone
Oh my, this arrangement. Absolutely beautiful; the vocals just mesh too well with the arrangement. The tones of the brass and strings with the piano, those voices fit in amazingly. So good, you guys.
Something cool I noticed, at least if I’ve got the story right: In the first verse, the the start even, our lady says she’s never late and always has to wait on others to get things done. But in the next verse, she says that her death was someone else’s fault for not helping her when she was already late for her show. You can see the flaw in her logic even if she hasn’t noticed it herself :D
You guys make music like no other! It's all so original and I adore that! "Justice" is one of my favorite songs. I tried to find artists like you, but the only artist I could compare you to is Florence + the Machine, another one of my favorite artists. I'm really looking forward to your future albums! Thank you for making every day more musical!
Did "they steal from me" or did I find myself hear" 🤔 The call to justice suggesting sovereign existence is a means for humanity to be saved. Really appreciate this!
Sorry if I´m being annoying, but I just wanted to say that this and "Irony" really remind me of the character Goro Akechi from Persona 5, it just seems to fit him very well. Of course I´m sure the songs have no intentional relation to Persona 5, just thought it was neat that the songs from my favorite band remind me of a character from my favorite game ^^
Nika, I am happy that you are able to relate to the music in such a personal way and thank you for your geniune sharing of your deep connection to something, your willingness to express yourself is heartening. :)
Little surprised to see these two put together. As far as I can tell there's a lot that takes place in between Justice and Woe to Me, but Woe to Me seems to lead directly into Take Him Away.
Are the lines "I left his shop" through "If I could have found an owner to pay" in Justice referencing the end of Solemn Dream? I'm pretty sure it is, but I don't know for sure
Katie, did you know the whole production is just that? If I remember correctly the albums tell stories like a play. Come to think about it I believe it actually is a play. I love when people connect the lyrics to the tale that they tell as it is something I enjoy as well.
@@Nos1maj I did some research and they have several videos on their Facebook where they talk about it. The videos are really long but they have all the info
It’s not a direct sequel as much as it’s a continuation of the story. We hear some of the character Sable’s side of the story that happens in the end of Solemn Dream.
The album is based on the musical we wrote. It has never been performed or published. It’s called the Raven Locks like the record. The record the Raven Locks is us covering the songs from our own musical. Does that make sense?
Savior, well I know that none hath sinned as have I against Thee, nor hath wrought the deeds which I have.. Yet again.. I know this also: Neither greatness of transgressions, nor enormity in sinning, can surpass my God and Savior's great long-suffering and mercy and exceeding love for mankind. For with the oil of compassion Thou dost cleanse and render shining all those who repent with fervor; and Thou makest them partakers of Thy light in all abundance and true sharers of Thy Godhood.
I appreciate that. Sadly, we don’t have the bandwidth to do this ever. However, I know some people have written out some of our parts online. If you google sheet music for this one, it may be out there already.
I have a pretty large English vocabulary for an non-native speaker, but DPR's songs often make me remember this passage from The Grapes of Wrath “I remember a piece of poetry this here guy wrote down This guy had words in it that Jesus H. Christ wouldn’t know what they meant Guy showed me a dictionary. Carried that dictionary all over hell with him. He’d look in it while he’s pulled up gettin’ his pie an’ coffee.” 😄

I just noticed that these lyrics correlate a lot to "Irony"!

At this point, every song you guys released is a masterpiece... I am literally familiar with all of your songs since 2013 XD

Thats Josh Brown!
I play trombone (tenor, but still), and I 100% agree.
as a pianist i agree

This is a ballet in my mind. Truly powerful performance, such graceful symmetry to the duet. Bravo!

Bojack Sampson nope. They are literally back to back with only the shortest dialogue in between
this song makes me cry
god I would love so much to have a little short story esque description for what these songs are describing. they're so lovely
Vesper We have a really long version on our Facebook page. We did a series of live videos where we told the entire story of the Raven Locks
Just amazing… thank you guys for this beauty! Cheers from Manaus/Brazil ❤️
i love the vocals on this

OH MY GOD THESE WERE THE BEST 5:30 MINUTES IVE I'VE EVER INVESTED
Every song you all make is better than the last
Conviction sets.
Thanks for this. Woe to me means so much to me, love you guys
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH everything is just so good I hope this band keeps going on and on
Justice seems like a prequel to Irony - the match is too well
It is
really epic songwriting guys!
Is there anywhere I can find info about or the plot of this musical? I love your songs, and I would love to hear them in context to the plot
Commenting so if DPR respond I get notified also

Could you guys release the tabs for the section done on piano please? I love this song and I want to be able to play it

Is there any development in a possible physical release?
