      Duh.. That's what the whole video was about... He didn't miss a point and was glad he arrived at the same conclusion as I did.. My phone is always with me so why pay $100 extra plus the extra $10 a month.. The GPS does everything I need.. Dave from South Georgia..

      IMO the GPS does everything I want it to be. Until there's other differences like in the Series 3, I'll go for the GPS model for now.

      I have the cellular LTE....... I know of several people in my who are able to use their Apple Watch LTE while on the iPhone simultaneously while on two totally different phone calls..... they are able to receive and make entirely different phone call on the phone or through the watch while using one of the devices....... they said they haven’t altered the devices..... I wonder if it’s something new that they are using in Beta

    Senior here living alone. I think I want the cellular for the fall detection and ability to call for help from anywhere. $10/month is cheaper that those monitoring companies that give you a button to wear. I’m sure I wont use it much, but it’s worth the peace of mind. Good video, though.

      Calling the fire department on your IWatch directly, is faster than talking to life line monitoring company, who will try to figure out what you need. After the initial discussion, they call the fire department. Overall, if you fall with the new IWatch, Apple sends you a notification if you are alright. If you don't answer, unconscious, or unable to respond, they call for help immediately. Life line won't do that unless you are conscious enough to press the button. Definitely an IWatch with Cellular for any senior citizen is a good and wise choice. If you fall outside without your phone on you, or if there is no wifi in the park, you are out of luck. I am getting the cell version and keeping safe since I live alone. I just won't go to Starbucks for 2 coffees anymore. I spend $10 a month on the least essential items, as least this $10 monthly could save my life.

      It is $9.99 in the US but comes out to ~$15 after taxes. Almost 50% in taxes! My average monthly usage on cellular for the watch is less than 20MB (MEGABYTES) of my UNLIMITED data plan. So they are charging us to barely use any data that we are already paying for! I can suffer the activation cost to add the device to your plan and get assigned a phone number, but the monthly costs are egregious thereafter!

    My Series 4 is cellular and the way I’m using it is so that I don’t have to have my phone with me every place I go. I struggle with mental health issues and being connected so much is not helpful for me. I can leave my phone on my desk and go outside and do stuff. Take a long walk if I want, but still be reachable and if necessary be able to call for help should I need to. I have access to music should I want it with some earbuds ready to go. Yes, it costs more. Yes,, your battery will take a hit, but for me being able to put the phone down and get away from political arguments and other nonsense and to calm myself down during a panic attack is worth both of those things.

    Very helpful video. But for me the question was not how often am I without my phone. It was how often would I “prefer” to be without my phone. Before I got my cellular watch I almost always had my phone, like most people. But I still wanted the cellular watch because I wanted to improve on connecting with people rather than looking at my phone. Now with that watch it’s much easier for me to live in the moment with close friends and family by meeting up with them over lunch or dinner without bringing my phone and the temptation of checking it. I didn’t want the watch that best fits the lifestyle I was leading, I wanted the one that helps change my lifestyle for the better.

    • @gurmeet1980
      @gurmeet1980 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Plz tell me how much hours of battery life you are getting while watch is in cellular mode for normal usage. Please answer.

    • @LewyLewy2008
      @LewyLewy2008 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      That’s a good question. I totally agree with this video when he states that cellular mode consumes a lot more of the battery. A lot. When it’s not in cellular mode a full charge easily lasts much more than a day, although I charge my phone each morning anyway. But when it’s in cellular mode the whole time it definitely doesn’t last a full day. It’s hard for me to give a specific answer as to how long because it depends on how much I’m listening to music and placing calls. But, for example, I remember one Saturday that I left my apartment mid-day, like noon or maybe even 1 PM, for a Festival. I was listening to a lot of music while riding my scooter each way, and I placed several calls, and the phone actually was dead by like 9 PM, which was before I got home. I don’t know if it would’ve lasted much longer if I would’ve tried to conserve on listening to music or length of calls, but in general it doesn’t last a full day in cellular mode. That’s a problem.
      But it’s more often the case that I have both my phone and watch with me at work so the watch is not in cellular mode, and then I just go out in the evening for social stuff without my phone. For that it’s great.

      gurmeet singh, I have the series-4 in stainless steel (LTE/cellular), and I have had it since it was released. I usually have between 65%~80% battery life at the end of the day. I think the benefit of having a cellular watch is having the ability to leave your phone behind at times thus giving you an illusion of being free from a device at all times. You can go hike, walk, job or whatever and not have the phone on you but still have a way of communicating if needed. That’s my draw at least. Trying to detach from my phone more.

    I got my watch in a second hand shop (brand new condition) and it just happened to be a cellular model. I tried cellular for a bit but didn't really use it so saved money by cancelling it. Now though, most of the time I'm in an apartment complex with my boyfriend and constantly going back and forth between friends' rooms all over the building. Taking my big plus-size iPhone with me just so my watch will stay connected gets really annoying, so I re-bought the cellular plan. It's really good being able to leave my phone behind without missing any important notifications :D I don't use the cellular feature all the time, but now that I'm moving around more rather than staying in one room, I find it really useful. It's not for everyone, but it is really handy to have in certain situations!

I reactivated my data that exact day. So the moral of this story is if you often forget your phone in different places just like me and your friend's house doesn't have a goddamn doorbell in 2020, buy the cellular version, I guarantee you'll be more relaxed.

    I bought the Series 3 two years ago because the GPS model only had and still does only have 8GB of storage vs 16GB on the Cellular version. Never used the Cellular feature because of the reasons you explain very well in this video. But now that ALL Series 5 models have 32GB of storage, I’ll be following your advice and just getting the GPS only 44mm Gold Aluminum Series 5. Thanks for an excellent explanation. So glad I stumbled on this 3 month old video after the Series 5 event Tuesday Sept 10. I was planning on getting the Cellular version until your video reminded me I don’t need it ‘cause all models come with 32GB storage RAM now.😃
    Changed my mind am getting Cellular because the Emergency calling doesn’t go through the nearby iPhone. Even without a plan it’ll call 911 if you, like me an old 72 year old man, fall and need an ambulance.
    There’s no 2GB music storage limit.

    This one is tough. I’m a teacher so an Apple Watch is already expensive and truly out of my budget if we’re being honest. But I was tired of watch batteries dying and as a teacher you are always moving around, wall clocks aren’t always available, and sticking to a schedule is key. I can’t be late for anything. I ultimately decided the Apple watch would be invaluable. Only thing is I compromised by getting the GPS only and not cellular because I already felt guilty for spending hundreds of dollars on another Apple product. However, I’ve come to regret the GPS only and wish I had gotten cellular. There are so many times I’m not within reach of my phone and as a teacher I am not allowed to carry my phone around with me or be on it. Cellular would be really helpful in areas like the cafeteria, teachers lounge, recess, and copy room. There have been days I’ve gotten so caught up into work I’ve missed important calls, communication about dinner plans, emergencies, etc. Thinking about taking it back to get the cellular version and just eating the extra cost.

      Golden Spatian then I would say don’t be dumb and break it. I’ve had my iPhone for YEARS and it hasn’t failed me yet. No major cases of fucking up the device with major dents or nothing. Always get a case and screen protector on almost every Apple product. Trust me when I say it’s not worth it. If it was just 100$ flat then god bless that’s a cool feature right? But it doesn’t bode well with ANY carriers. They notice a new device is registered and charge a lil extra for having it on your plan. You will be facing 100$ and additional fees every month for having it. And for that reason, I’m out.

    Had an apple watch for 2 years and only once did i ever come into a situation where the LTE version would’ve come in handy because i left my phone at home going to work. Ill be sticking with GPS version when getting the SE watch 👍🏻

    so helpful - thank you! I chose cellular, partly because I tend to misplace my phone, whereas I do not misplace my watch. I also get out in the Alaska wilderness and need cellular

    i was leaning towards the cellular but after watching your video, i decided on the GPS. i just need it for emergency cases only in which has happened to me a lot at work and at school. at school, we all know no phones allowed so my phone is always in my backpack so im very close to it so i wouldn't need the cellular. at my job luckily the building is small so i just have to move closer to the break room to get signal but either way my job has wifi. my career goal involves a hospital setting and we all know hospitals have wifi so buying a GPS will still be useful in the future. when i go out i always have my phone on me anyways so GPS it is! thank you!

    Should i go for series 3 cellular over series 4 GPS only version? Please advice!!

      Hemil patel it would payoff in the long run to go, series 4 GPS.

      Hemil patel For me, GPS Series 4. The series 4 has the first 64 bit Apple Watch processor,and the first actual re-design.i have both the 3 and 4 in gps. Because the place where I live doesn’t have lte support yet. But I can guarantee you, you won’t regret getting the series 4, you will appreciate its look and speed much more than series 3. The series 4 also has ECG too, where the 3 does not has.

    I’m waiting for the series 5 to come out - defo getting the not cellular version. The options for use in the Uk and carriers is limited. I take my iPhone ever here so I don’t need to worry about it.
    And any time that I forget my iPhone, I can use the WiFi in local bars and restaurants!

      Exactly, Luke! Sounds like you have a great plan there for the Series 5!

    Thanks for the video, I have the cellular version but I don’t use it and my provider doesn’t provide it. I bought it because I got the cellular cheap.
    I always have my iPhone with me. I find it ridiculous that the company’s are charging more to have a service on the same number.

    Business insider says this: Monitoring your health via the Workout and Activity apps (though if you'd like your routes to be GPS accurate, be sure to bring your iPhone) what does that mean?! I do get gps without Wi-Fi or cellular, right? Then why the GPS accurate qualification?

      marydaniv what’s the maximum distance range does it provides to keep connected to an iPhone with Bluetooth on? (GPS not cellular)

  • @carlosbercero85

    Totally agree. Another reason for the Cellular can be the carrier 0% interest financing. Paying extra $100 + $10/month, hurts less if differed overt 24 months, rather than paying it off at once.

    would the GPS version able to load maps without cellular data and internet

    • @itstheBMAC
      @itstheBMAC  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question! I personally haven't tested this out, but I think your best best would be to load map data before going without any kind of Internet connection. This is because GPS connections cannot provide data connections - so any map data that you do not have cannot be downloaded via GPS if it was not downloaded before going without Internet? Does that make sense? I hope this helps!

    • @delalias5754
      @delalias5754 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Location can be determined with gps and the whole city could be loaded one time with wifi, its possible to pre-load entire country. So thats why i asked is the GPS able to show maps without wifi and data.. cuz the main use of watch is to go hiking or jogging no one wants to carry their phone if they have watch.

    • @itstheBMAC
      @itstheBMAC  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you pre-download data, yes. You won’t be able to see the map if you didn’t download the data before leaving a WiFi zone. 👍🏼

    Thanks for an excellent review, but I have one question. If I decide to just buy the GPS version and later on find out that I really need the cellular version, can I just add it?

      No. Has to be purchased with the watch
