You guys know Faker and Deft were in the same high school.(They are same age) That is the why the first part of video shows high school scene. The dramatic story of "champ" DEFT is beyond amazing
Yeah we probably could have touched on that more. Because we are so engrained in LoL esports, there’s this feeling of not repeating what everyone else is saying. Leave that for the new people to learn in a way
The video follows Deft's journey through his career. Here's context: So Deft started back in 2013 along side with Faker who was much better than Deft. In 2014 he got his first big break for success. He made it to the semifinals where he would then fall to his sister team in Samsung White. (As seen in the desert fight.) In the follow year he left his home country of Korea to join EDG who was located in China. He would then fall in quarterfinals with his teammate Meiko (a chinese player) to a European team in Rekkles who was also young in his career. Deft would then sit back and get barraged by random attacks which is a reference to the same thing every year. Then it cuts to the 2020 Run with his two other teammates in Doran and Keria. He would then fall again in Quarterfinals with Doran and Keria both leaving teams (Deft also left the team for a year). Deft later returned to DRX (the 2020 team) for his final year (Cause he said at the time, he was going to do his mandatory military service in which a graduate male Korean student is forced to do. Deft did graduate on the side while playing the game competitively.). His 2022 run was his last dance on a team that struggled domestically. But barely qualifying for the Worlds as the worse team from Korea. Deft and his team had to go through so many champions of regions (Europe Champions, Korea's Champions, Winners Tournament aka MSI Champions, Vietnam Champions, Defending World Cup Champions, the perfect season champions.) Then Deft and his 4 other teammates had to go through the defending Worlds Champions in the first round who is none other than his old team EDG with Meiko. Then had to go through Korea's Champions who had 2 of Deft old Teammates in Doran and Chovy (Chovy was also on DRX in 2020). And finally his ex teammate he had to take down is Keria. But Keria was with the same guy at the start of the video. The same guy Deft went to school with, Faker. 10 years after both walking difference paths with Faker always being better than Deft. And Deft making the miracle run for the ages. Deft then complete his last dance as he took down the same kid who was better than him 10 years ago.
The detail they put into this story is insane. Scene context for newer players as a huge Deft fan: 1) Deft sees Faker at school (they went to the same high school) and starts grinding league at home after he sees Faker pop off on his signature Zed in season 3. 2) Deft's meteoric rise on SSB, becomes famous for his Ez and Lucian and comes into Worlds 2014 as the #1 seed from Korea. Gets knocked out of Worlds by SSB and *PaWn's famous Jayce. 3) Deft moves to EDG as part of the first Korean exodus to LPL. He wins MSI with Meiko on Thresh, but famously gets 3-0'd against Fnatic and Rekkles' AD Kennen at Worlds. 4) Fast forward to 2020, and Deft is on his hyperscaling Senna alongside Doran on his Jax as part of DRX, back in the LCK. Damwon's Showmaker (Syndra) and Canyon (Graves) are by far the best players in the world, and they destroy Deft's dreams of winning worlds again despite Keria's best efforts on Braum to protect him. 5) Deft sinks into a dark place as Korean and international netizens alike question his ability to win + clutch factor etc. Is he washed? Not shown are the many years on KT/EDG in between that Deft frequently came into Worlds as the #1 seed and his team underperformed, or missed the tournament entirely. Just as it seems he may never resurface, he's pulled out of the depths by the DRX miracle run roster of last year, who go on a crazy gauntlet run just to make worlds. Starting from LCK regionals on, they are the underdog in almost every Bo5 they play. 6) Worlds 2022 starts, and Deft is forced to confront all of his old teammates one by one in order to rise to the top. This starts with his previous lanemate Meiko on Renata. Deft demonstrates a new level of skill and ability this year, pulling out the Draven to dispatch EDG Meiko (and Viper!!) and then the Varus to beat Doran's Renekton, who is now on Gen G (and Chovy!!). Finally, he comes face to face with his old friend Keria, and his new team T1 in World finals. Just as his Caitlyn seems to have Keria's Karma in his sights, Faker appears on his feared Viktor to seemingly dash Deft's hopes once again. But Deft is no longer alone and the only star player on his team. The DRX roster teleports in, and Zeka's Azir sets up Deft to fire the final headshot at T1, winning the championship and lifting the Worlds Trophy after 10 long years. Legendary. The video closes with various Worlds players this year eyeing the trophy, and glory, once again
I really liked Star Walking, but Gods and its video are the best I've seen since I started watching in 2020. The video gave me Arcane but players I know and love in an amazing way. I'm excited to see the finals live choreographed performance so New Jeans can show off their moves and more of a kpop flair
The first player he sees take down Baron in the beginning of the song was when Faker's Zed stole Baron from FNC in the all stars 2014. We finally got Faker Zed in a worlds song!!
After the teaser I was a bit nervous because I knew the song was going to be epic and Newjeans might not fit well with the genre but now I am really happy and like the song a lot, it gives me "Two Steps From Hell" vibe sort of, which I like.
If you watch Newjeans covers and shows, they are super versatile, all their releases sound different and their company is only putting out certain genre.
This song is a solid 8/10 Personally I love it though. It parrots all the good things about Rise, and Burn It Down being, following the story of the player and their climb to the top. I like the almost Choir like Chant we hear in the opening too. This is a damn good Worlds Song. Love the review and video
Its gonna be an Anthem where everyone can sing/shout whenever Legend fans gather and whenever NewJeans play this at their concert. That's my prediction. Thx for ur reaction guys.
Nah, if people are going to check NJ because of this song, it's kinda useless. This song is LoL Riot FT Newjeans. Newjeans just following the type of music that Riot wants. If people are loving GODS, and expecting to find more of it from NJ's songs, then they won't find it. Their music is that bubbly pop kpop song, they are entirely different from GODS. If i didn't know Newjeans, looking them up because of GODS, i was pretty much going to be disappointed.
People overrate RISE. Ive found that most of the people who rate RISE as THE Golden Child of League Cinematics, do so because of the nostalgia of watching the video for the first time along with the song. It was also during one of the most popular and hype time periods in League History. People associate the song and the video together with great memories which is why I think it's so highly rated. RISE as a song combined with the video, for me, is a top 3 at best. #3 comfortably. But when you're comparing just the songs? GODS, Burn It All Down, and even Warriors are just much better songs. They're composed better, have harder hitting choruses/hooks, and generate more hype by themselves. If we had heard RISE as just a song, and there was never a video, it probably wouldnt even be in top 5 of most peoples lists. But the last few songs Riot has put out are songs that can stand alone as hype/excitement generators. RISE cant do that imo.
Star walkin doesn't hype me a bit about worlds last year, in the contrary it's so boring. Usually the anthem is the one you play during the ceremony and/or after winning certain matches, instead , they played different song last year just to mix in with the vibe. It's almost only benefits lil nas gae for making a wider stage for himself, rather than riot getting something from him.

Chovy was also with deft in hle 2021
Deft has arguably the greatest esports storyline imo
The song is really good + the story details in the video made the mv perfect
Defts story will go down in Esports history

Newjeans never disappoints ❤❤
love NJ's voices❤

This year Newjeans in Coachella, show principal, are top 3 with BTS and Blackpink in Corea, are goods and gods
The first player he sees take down Baron in the beginning of the song was when Faker's Zed stole Baron from FNC in the all stars 2014. We finally got Faker Zed in a worlds song!!
As expected, Daniel, Hyein, and Haerin's voices..The chorus is like Minji and Hani
Girl it’s Danielle not Daniel 😭
Wat do you mean Hanni slayy harder ❤❤❤❤😂
Haerin minji hyein doing the verses, Hanni and Danielle are doing the chorus
The story of Deft from 2014 and 2022 make champions
As what you say. Top 3 probably banger.
LEGENDS NEVER DIE!!!!

Wow. I saw in other reaction videos and their browsers kinda crashed too. Newjeans really crashed the internet 😂
I just wish more people knew about the pro players featured. They're not getting half the impact without knowing the story.
Comes with time and is a good thing, allows us to tell the stories and introduce people to the game
Heck Yeah!!!!!
I can't wait to see Newjeans live stage at the opening of the event.
Great reaction, beautiful animation and Good song.
i think its best animation by far for any worlds anthem, song itself is 4th for now, buuuuuttt worlds anthems get better the more u play them
NewJeans not super shy anymore
who is next deft this year? I'm hyped.
I wanna to collaborate you with her one more in this MSI period.
her smile is so pretty (6:28)
(저 누나랑 한 번 더 영상 같이 찍어줘. 제발....plz)
❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥💯💯💯
In the last seconds I think we see for sure Hans Sama first with that eye, then (not sure) I think fudge

Starwalking is a good song, but it's like drinking coffee with your pasta

deft : The important thing is to keep your mind intact
Blaber cameo lets goooo
Am I the only one who thought they were both in the same room sitting next to each other?
Good editing I guess, was not intended 😂
I know nobody ever giving bro the AUX judging from his opinions and music choices

good video. thanks for NOT being one of those stupid kpop reaction videos.
He is wrong
Wym?
the song was good but could have been better and with more hype to the worlds
