My recent experience at Hurghada Airport was nothing short of disgraceful. The behavior of the airport staff was shameless, rude, and racist, leaving me deeply disappointed and infuriated. It is disheartening to witness such underqualified, dim-witted, and corrupt individuals in positions of authority.
As Kurds who couldn't speak Arabic fluently because living in Sweden since age of 6, we became the target of the old individual who checked our passports. It seemed like he was envious or harbored some ill feelings towards us. He went out of his way to ensure that we missed our flight, deliberately mispronouncing our names and searching for any excuse to argue with us about trivial matters. He bombarded us with intrusive questions about our father's name, birthplace, and our inability to speak Arabic.
After some time, he conveniently pretended to be ignorant of the English language and began interrogating us in Arabic. It was only when someone behind us stepped forward to assist with translation that he shifted his focus to Saddam Hussein, praising him as a great man-ironically, the same man responsible for a genocide against our people.
When we confronted him about his behavior, he responded by hurling curses at us in his language. The flight was thankfully delayed or else we would've been stranded thanks to this racist man. Our initial intention had been to help the kind and needy individuals we encountered during our stay, but after enduring such treatment, I can confidently say that I will never set foot in Egypt again.
I sincerely hope that the airport authorities take this review seriously and address the abysmal state of affairs. The treatment we received is an embarrassment to the friendly and helpful people we encountered in the city, who truly made our stay amazing. Hurghada Airport must reconsider the hiring and training of its staff if it wishes to maintain any semblance of credibility and hospitality.

Taxi should have cost more than 30-100le and that 100 with cover a good distance. If they know your staying in a nice hotel they will try get more money from you. From an airport expect to pay 70-200 maximum, that’s if your not even staying in hurghada 200, 70 within hurghada.
Currently Egypt is having a foreign currency shortage and is suffering from hyperinflation. I advise people bring dollars or euros as a go to. Your money will go much further on the black market than via the banks. And everyone be weary of scammers as it’s completely normal 😄 but it’s a beautiful place and you can only be scammed if you allow it. So learn your prices and don’t be fooled guys. Also tipping goes a long way. Another option to stop you from getting overcharged is Uber. You can tell taxi drivers an Uber will do it for half of the price and majority of them will accept half or more of their initial asking price. Another rule if your making an exchange with someone be it in their shop, booking a trip or taxi, never let them know it’s your first time in the country as now your marking yourself 😄 but other than paying little extra for things the people are lovely and very welcoming

I applied for my Egyptian Visa online prior to visiting through the Egyptian Visa government website, it was sooo easy, took about 5 minutes, NO difficult questions and I had my E-Visas within 24 hours for a cost of $25, I also applied for my friends and that was the same, easy and $25, so I am not sure why you are saying it's difficult.
It also states online if you read up that they only accept cash at the airport for visas, so no excuses for people not to have USD readily available!

I have been I have been thinking about going to Hurghada or Sharon el Sheikh, more so for the scuba diving as it is alot cheaper than most places and the red sea is known for its coral reefs, sharks and marine life. I have been the Agadir in Morocco and loved it, they were so nice and very accommodating, the city was very nice built, spacious and very safe. I felt safe to walk around at night. I am hoping Hurghada or Sharm is similar enough to that but I have heard terrible accounts of how run down and poverty strike the city is and how many Egyptian staff are quite rude to people who aren't British or American. I am half Brit and half Bulgarian so it should be fine

    Things I Learned in Egypt:
    • Adult-only hotels are actually retirement homes.
    • Elderly people are very quick and eager to show pictures of their children and grandchildren.
    • In Arab countries, marriage is a business; instead of camels or chickens as in the past, the groom must gift the bride’s parents household appliances like televisions or ovens.
    • Cats are dirty and dusty, also emaciated and disease-ridden, many have only one functioning eye.
    • Camels taste like beef.
    • All the people outside the hotel are despicable. They have no respect for you, and it wouldn’t surprise me if the waiters (outside the hotel) spit in your food.

    • @nancy47
      @nancy47 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

It all depends on the purpose of your trip. Makady Bay is very artificial, created for tourists. There is a great aquapark, I recommend it. But if you want to see the old town with the souk, the marina, visit a cathedral or see a mosque, see the fish market, that kind of thing, it is better to favor Hurghada itself. Knowing that the city center (Sheraton Road) and Makadi Bay are 30 minutes away by car, you can opt for a hotel on the coast near the Senzo Mall. You will be in the middle in distance and Uber is not expensive to get around. There is also the big Aquarium there, a very nice visit to do. For shopping I recommend the old town (El Dahar) or the city center (Sheraton Road), cheaper than the shops of the hotels, especially in Makadi where it is very expensive.

I recommend using Uber to travel around as the price is reasonable and the taxi driver wouldn’t cheat you. Hotels and local taxi drivers would overcharge you for using their taxis and sometimes might ask you to pay in foreign currency
You need to visit the Marina, the mosque next to the Marina and also El Dahar(Old Town). There is also a lot of water-sports activities you can go on
Take about £25 with you, so you can pay for your visa at the airport. The visa is about $25, but it’s good to have a bit more on you

Don't use taxis at all. You don't need them. A microbus will take you close enough, no matter where you want to go. And it only costs a few EGP. You just need to know if where you're going is North or South. If you're going West or East, just walk. The town is only about 2 miles wide. I'd only consider even using public transport if going from one part of the town to the other. Consider everything North of the marina and Al Mina mosque, to be one area, and everything South of it to be another. If you want to walk North or South, don't do it on the coast road. Especially if you're staying is Sekalla (The newer part of the city, South of the Al Mina mosque, which is next to the marina) If you use the coast road (Sheraton Road in Sekalla), you'll get approached by a LOT of shopkeepers and street vendors. You can minimize it a bit by walking on the sunny side of the street, but you can eliminate it altogether by just walking one street farther away from the sea.
If a child comes up to you, trying to sell you a T-shirt, back away immediately. Make sure there is space between you and them, cus they are using that T-shirt to hide their hand, and they're going to use that hand to pick your pocket. Usually, they do this in pairs and as soon as they have your wallet, they give it to their accomplice, and it's as good as gone.
When you pay people, make sure you make it obvious that you know which notes you're giving them, and don't take your eyes off the money. It's mostly taxi drivers who do this. If you look away while they're counting the money, they will switch a 100 for a 10 and say you never gave them enough.
Always wash your hands before you eat. And make sure you don't wait until you get thirsty to drink water, or you're gonna have diarrhea.
Mostly...stay away from taxis. People will tell you to agree a price before you get in, but the drivers know this, and will often pretend to have misunderstood. It's just not worth the hassle. It's only a mile from the airport to the edge of town and from there, you can take a microbus. They're incredibly cheap.
Don't ask for directions. Always look like you know where you're going. If someone helps you, they will expect something from you.
If you're with a family, you won't be approached as much. Especially if you look like you're married.
Never pay the price you're told. NEVER. Even in old town, if you don't look Egyptian, the starting price will be high. In Sekalla, the vendors wil give you a starting price that's maybe 10X what they will accept. But if you see an ornament or something you like, before you buy it, look on Alibaba to see how much it really costs, cus it's all imported from China.
Even the hotels sell fake sunglasses - Chinese copies of known brands. If you want to buy clothes, go to a market in old town. (North of the marina and Al Mina mosque) You'll get far better prices for far better quality than if you go into a tourist shop. Especially the tourist shops on the coast.
If you MUST get a taxi from the airport, consider asking someone to get one for you, and insist on paying the driver in front of them. And if you're including a tip, make sure you tell him and that he understands. He's still likely to find an excuse to ask for more money when you get where you're going, but as long as you never put your luggage in the trunk, he has no leverage. NEVER put your luggage in the trunk, or the driver has you in the palm of his hand.
Hurghada is very safe. Nobody will try to hurt you, but they will try everything else, to get the money out of your pocket. Don't go out with a large sum of money. In fact, if you see something you want to buy, just walk past, then take money out of your wallet, so that you only have enough for what you'd consider a fair price for it. That way, you can show them how much you have, and they can either agree to your price, or you can walk away and they have no further argument.
They will often try to look offended, insulted or angry. That's good. It's not real. It's all part of the game and it just lets you know that you got a decent price. If they weren't happy with what you offered, they wouldn't agree to the sale.
As for things to do...boat trips can be cool. But if you go to giftun island, don't buy anything there. It's insanely expensive. There's usually food and drink on the boat. It may even be free if it's the hotel's boat and it's an all-inclusive hotel. There are also glass bottomed boats that can take you out. You can even go fishing if you like.
There are day trips from Hurghada to Luxor if you have the energy for that. It's a long bus ride though, and Luxor is going to be a lot hotter than Hurghada.
If you run out of water in your hotel room, go find the cleaner's trolly and grab some off that while they're busy cleaning a room. If you order a room service meal, do NOT get drinks with it. They will charge stupid prices for a bottle of coke or something.
In the lobby of your hotel, they will probably have a stand full of leaflets for local businessees and activities. That's a good place to look. Or, if you have an idea of the kind of things you'd like to do, just ask someone at the hotel. Make sure you keep a map with you, so they can point you in the right direction. Even if it's just a small map on one of the leaflets.
If it's a long way, use an Uber. I'd also recommend using an uber to get from the airport if you don't feel like walking. But really....I'd walk. It's a good way to stretch your legs after the flight.
Which hotel are you staying at?

They told me again you have to pay extra after 23:00. So i asked for a bottle of water : same answer after 23:00 you have to pay extra, okay i went to bed woke up still starving around 09:06 and i thought aight lets get breakfast! Ow no i only can eat breakfast feom 07:00 till 09:00 so they still not give me food.. this story would be endless so ill share the end of the trip (after 4 days). I got stabbed by an insekt at the beach and i got an allergic reaction so i was in shock and runned towards the what they call shuttle bus who brings you back to the hotel. And this was their answer no you have to wait 31 minutes. 😂😂 But i was dying i needed my meds wich where in my hotel room. After i showed those 8 working people that is was serieus they told me NO ENGLISH . so i run for my live on 60 degrees celsius stones for 20 minutes hardly breathing my eyeball is half popping out of my eyesokket.. those people man wow.
