  • Why Not Research Talks´23: Let´s talk about Dance, Brain and Music.
This event was part of Why Not Aarhus Lindy Exchange 2023 - our annual Lindy Hop festival in Aarhus.
Associate Professor Leonardo Bonetti is a Carlsberg Foundation Junior Research Fellow at the University of Oxford’s Centre for Eudaimonia and Human Flourishing at Linacre College, and Associate Professor at the Center for Music in the Brain, Aarhus University.
Holding two master’s degrees in classical guitar and in psychology, and a Ph.D. in cognitive neuroscience, his research focuses on exploring the brain mechanisms underlying memory for music and temporal sequences.
The Talk: Memory for music: brain mechanisms and clinical perspectives
Leonardo ́s newest research has revealed the rapid strategies adopted by the brain to extract musical meaning from familiar and novel sequences of sounds. Moreover, it showed the unique opportunity of combining music and state-of-the-art neuroscientific techniques to potentially build screening tools to quantify the individual risk of developing dementia.
