After 200 hours in Maddening here is my personal skill tier list for Fire Emblem Engage.
If you think something is too high/low make a strong argument and I might agree with you :). I will do a followup once I hit 500 hours of maddening playtime.
Another fun way to make use of Boucheron’s ability is class change him to Halberdier for Pincer Attack and use a Brave Lance. Needs setup from positioning someone else, but with it he can get consistent quads with +8 base damage, good bulk and str, and surprisingly decent spd to avoid doubles. Also has flexibility on emblems or skills to give him, though Lunar Brace/Bravery from Eirika adds a crazy amount of extra damage per hit.
I feel like Lapis is going to be another Nephenee type. If you get blessed you swear by her but if you get cursed you see her as too much effort. Lapis as hero won me so many battles so I adore her.
I made Lapis a swordmaster for a while, she is a hero now. With a bit of some Marth evasion skills.

Fixed mode means she's always cursed on maddening

@@TommySkywalker11 sadly. Forgot fixed growths and how alot of earlier units get gimped by it.
I think Yunaka's passive should be high A or low S tier imo if you power level her enough. Its pure upside on her if pair her with corrin, albeit a gamble build that's somewhat consistent. If you put a +4 Steel Dagger onto her that grants 10 extra crit rate on top of the 15 she gets from her passive, you're looking at an inate 25% on top of her already high dex (and somewhat high luck), and will be doubling most enemies with her high speed too, so you'll be landing a crit every other battle, it actually gets pretty insane with her. Zelkov's passive is good but on maddening you also don't want enemies to hit 0% chance since enemies won't attack you if their hit rate is 0 (unless you're going for body blocking purely)
Boucheron with the hero class with dual assist and brave assist is a killer paired with the roy emblem Diamant is so good man…put him with Ike emblem and this guy tank everything woth dual assist and advance skill
Another thing about Bunet’s personal is that you get Bunet right after you get Celica meaning Bunet can’t have Favorite Meal until the very endgame
To check how many hours you played on the switch's main menu click on the profile on the top left corner and it would show how many hours you played.
I actually forgot you could do this from the switch UI lol.

Clanne as a Sage has been fun. Leif gives him access to Light Blade scaled off magic. His spd cap is weird tho for me but right when I achieved it, he gained access to Nova which gave him a niche that Celine/Ivy/(and our little sister) doesn’t fill yet.
Alear and Veyle abilities stack so you can get +4/+4 damage/reduction for allies with canter

Can confirm that Divinely Inspiring applies AFTER all other calculations, making things deal +3 true damage that ignores stats, meaning if it was dealing 0, surprised, they deal 3 damage now, using with knives is amazing
I gave my panette the Lyn ring for speed taker and she doubles like crazzzyyyy it’s amazing. Then I forged her some insane weaponry hahaha. Mid to late map when she starts doubling, alacrity comes in clutch to make sure her low defense isn’t a liability.

Other than the amazing p skills, I wish characters had more game changing personal skills that had a real impact on how they play.
Too many characters have a throw away p skill. I didnt even notice them effecting gameplay, aside from the good ones.
Is their any way or any dlc people that get the perk make a killing or is Anna the only one bc im struggling on grinding gold with just Anna also the shop that sells master seals and Secondary skills is has onky sold the then 2× each and I just beat chapter 9 about tomstart 10 and only less then a handful of my unites are evolved wile the rest are at 20 with the exception of 2 unites that are still low lvs. I feel like I spend more money on replacing broken weapons then I make from trying to gold and exp farm at this rate all my unites will be lv 20 b4 and game and I have clanne at lf 20 as a mage still sadly I habe him paired with Sigurd to make him a moble physical and magic take his Strang rating... his stats combine stats a4e HP30,bid 8+2,sp 1760,magic atk 27,hit 133,avo 51,crit 9,ddg 11 but basic stats of str 13,mag 16,dex 19+ 2,spell 23,Def 13+2,res19,lck11 andratting of 122 not sure is that good or not for chapter 10
Up to Ch 24 in Maddening:
Despite the meta forming around Heroes and chain attacks so far, Goldmary does way better outside of Hero IMO. By reclassing her to Wyvern, her bases are just better than Rosado's. She comes in the back half of the game which means she's a better candidate for Sigurd than most since she won't have purchased Canter early. Without needing to purchase Canter, I was able to get her Speedtaker early and then use the remaining SP that trickles in on Spd +1/2/3/etc. Use the extra build from Sigurd to forge her a hefty Silver Lance. She's a flying tank that hits super hard and doubles everything - i find her personal ability actually quite good - enemies are attacking her with single digit damage and single digit hit rates
Ivy's ability is good in a vacuum but I've pretty much never seen it come into play - bosses, maybe.
Ivy can proc by using a Lucina Bond shield wall where tons of enemies attack her and if you attack one she failed to kill and it was the most recent foe you can manually proc it on regular enemies. With enough speed you take 0 damage and it can be useful. You can also attack dodgy enemies or foes you can't 1 round that have good AVO then dance her and use it in the same turn.
Goldmary's Hero outfit looks so good, but Rosado was quite a nice Wyvern Knight so if Goldmary could be even better I'm interested.
Boucheron doesn't start with good base speed but his speed growth is 45%. Then put him on Berserker for another 10 speed for 55 total. That's not bad speed growth, and with that setup he gets the highest HP growth (115%) and highest BLD growth (30%) in the game. His strength growth is not great but as a berzerker with 55 DEX he'll be landing a lot of crits with axes.
Berserker stat growths are great for him since his base growth has high speed n dex. Berserker stat caps for dex is bad tho. Also I think his build with berserker is 30 which is the highest. I am a mega boucheron fan and he carried the team due to his high build which makes a forged and engraved tomahawk great. His speed n build helps him with the stronger heavy axes.
Citrinne's ability is very easy to proc if you use Celica emblem since her casting spells loses 1 HP, allowing her to heal easily. Unit is still meh, but worth noting it does proc with Celine's increased healing
That is an interesting interaction. I don't know how often I would need AOE healing though tbh.
@@IcedCoffeeGaming yeah, its pretty niche. I used it a few times in early game when you don't have many healers. I didn't use it after chapter 11
What enemy classes are considered male or female anyway? It's really hard to tell from the generics portraits.
Look their pyshic, femelle are smaller when you look their profile
And you can recognize them with little change to outfits the more you play the more you will adapt and notice them apart
The problem with Lindons crit is that you cannot use upgraded weapons at all. Its not clear what is considered a lower level weapon but I have not been able to get it to work with any killer weapons that have been upgraded. So its basically just a useless skill.

@@sam7559 I dont think that it is. I was using a killer bow plus 5 and was not getting the bonus crit against a silver weapon. I think it literally uses the weapon level which on hard at least no enemies have upgraded weapons. So idk.
I used an upgraded thunder +5 tome and I can't recall a time it didn't go off.
Boucherons ability has been very helpful for me in maddening. There's been so many instances where he'd kill a unit not projected to die cuz a random dual assist from one of my backups proced. I also gave him the edelgard bracelet from the moment I got it and he is one of my instant delete buttons rn in endgame.
this, in my first playthrough i give him the edel ring and he was a killing machine, but now i give it to chloe and she is one of the best unit in the game and very versatile, literally a barbarosa claude from 3h when u got acces to the failnaugh
Yes Alear's personal skill is true 3 damage for allies adjacent to him. Not affected by def/res

Is that also true for Veyle's personal then (even though I don't really know why you'd use her for that reason)
Should also add that this applies to lunar brace as well. Had Alfred doing like 21 (16.5 from eclipse brace+, +5 from blue skies+ due to eirika engage) x2 damage to a def capped armor knight (55 def) with a javelin.
Also noticed some peculiarities with Timerra's Sandstorm seeming to hit way above what I would think subbing in 150% of her Def for the attack is and I suspect any "additional damage" effects just straight ignore def/res but I haven't actually done any testing on that.

Citrine's ability needs that tome skill off Celica that deals 1 damage to you every time you attack for extra damage. Then you can aoe heal more reliably.
Diamont I think is an interesting character.
He gains axes on promotion for his personal class. He also starts with a very solid base 9 build, which goes to 10 on promotion.He has a 15% build growth rate, the highest besides Boucheron, to complement his good 40% speed growth. His personal class, Successor also adds another 5% build 15% speed and 20% strength. If you want a unit to double with heavy weapons, Diamont is your go to guy, and his accuracy increase plays into that.
I recommended the early Brodia donation level 3 to get the brave sword. As you pointed out, Brave weapons are heavy, which limits who can use them well. Diamont will take only 3 slowdown from a brave sword if you promote him right away, with 1 less slowdown every 5 levels. Diamont will be your earliest choice for a brave weapon quad striker.
However, I did find on my last playthrough he's mostly a slightly worse version of Kagetsu that you get a few chapters earlier. So his use is mainly the early brave sword, and getting a bunch of sol activations off it if that's your thing (which works well paired with Ike.)
He's great with a tomahawk on enemy phase as a 1-2 range attacked. Sol plus his bulk means he can actually win a few fights in a row and come out looking ok

You can realistically get him to learn Canter before Sigurd rejoins late game. I think that's enough to make Diamont a reasonable alternative.

@@anilkarakaya9343 I noticed that. I question the viability of most S rank weapons, but Diamont I think may be able to get some use out of them.
Between his personal easily increasing his strength (depending on your team comp of course), his awesome build, and his decent speed (45% at base isn't bad and speed+5 or Speedtaker could fix it up), Boucheron is looking like he could be a slept on unit in my opinion.
I could see him being good with brave weapons potentially.
@@IcedCoffeeGaming He could be another good candidate for a halberdier with a brave lance like Lapis was. He might even be better at it. His speed isn't as good as hers, but it's good enough that he'd probably only be doubled by the fastest of enemies. And if he's using pincer attack he wouldn't have to worry about his speed on player phase. The class would also improve on his already decent bulk.
Coming up with fun or interesting builds to make normally not so good characters broken is seriously the most fun part of these games for me.
I think every unit is viable in the early game it’s just who are you going to choose to promote and who is gonna get left behind
@@erikbell1723 Yeah I'm running into that issue now. I'm down to 13 units I'm considering for my A team and that's one too many. I really don't want to use him for some reason, but Kagetsu's just too good to ignore lol
I've only been playing on Hard, but I've had great success with him as a Hero, and just generally having gravitated towards backup units, which, I can only imagine are more useful on Maddening to work around trying than they are on Hard. If using backups with Dual Assist+, and Lucina on someone who's not a backup unit, Boucheron's personal becomes really easy to rely upon triggering.
Lapis and chloe have the same str/spd growth and lap has the 2nd highest personal str besides amber.
Chloe i think is better as a griffin rider long term tbh. Shes has 50% mag growth in that class which is great and fewer units excel in it.
As always, your tier lists are spot on, I do have a few skills I disagree with.
With Share Spoils, I think that the real bonus is the +10 Avoid. Obviously, avoid is less reliable in this game, but it's always good and isn't Lapis pretty fast?
The thing with Diamant and Fair Fight is that his promotion gives him axes and he has a very easy way to remove the downside of his skill: Ike. Obviously it requires a bit of favoritism, but I honestly think that Ike was made specifically for Diamant's personal. Either way, the skill is an A-tier for me.
With Lindon, "lower level" should be the same as weapon rank and since most endgame enemies will have Silver, that means Elthunder would suffice. (I'm just going off what I've heard here. I haven't used him either.)
Also, wow... Fogado C? I thought his skill was easily a contender for the worst skill in the game alongside Etie's.
Yeah, I used Fogado a ton but his skill almost never activated.
Lindon is absolutely cracked with Dire Thunder
One thing that is interesting to note about Boucheron's personal is that it even works with the Illusory Doubles you can summon when engaged with Lyn. Like, you don't even need a backup unit adjacent, in range if Dual Assist, or even on the field, you can just have Boucheron summon the Illusions, pull a shove/repo + dance on an illusion if you really want him to attack that turn, the illusions chain attack (so guaranteed 4 chain attacks if all of them are still alive), and his personal procs.
That’s pretty cool, but I don’t feel like it’s too relevant
All you gotta do is give yunaka a forged silver dagger which is pretty easy and she starts carrying and with an ability Zelkov doesn’t have
9:54 why do you say Boucheron doesnt have high speec growths? He has 45% speed growth which is the same as Yunaka, Timera, Alcyst, and Celine. His speed growth is actually one of the major benefits of him
You are right his speed is decent. His str was low, was mixing those up haha
I'm wondering if Generosity might actually pair better with Chain Guard if you reclass Citrinne into a Qi Adept class... Not sure if that'd be worth it. I thought I'd be building a team around Citrinne but am finding her underwhelming

I don't find Clanne to be a bad unit at all. In my Hard playthrough he was a chad as a mage knight with a Levin Sword. 10% magic growth doesn't matter when you have insane speed and consistently double medium resistance enemies. He was able to one round most enemy classes throughout the game.
Ok, you might say that was on Hard. Which is why I've reclassed him into a Wyvern Knight on Maddening and now he still doubles almost everything, while actually utilizing his better Str growth. Clanne is a beast of a unit, his speed is insane.
I've been hearing he is good on physical, his 10% magic growth made me not want to run him, will have to try him in 3rd maddening run :)
Chloe with Lucina's ring and that 2 range named Lance you get near the end game are a crazy combo, everybody is getting chain attacked
Chloe in general is just busted af. I'd say she's about as busted as Ingrid was from 3 Houses. She's actually an untouchable unstoppable force especially with Sigurd.

Man so obsessed with flyers he don’t know that Diamant is amazing.
Diamant is basically the only axe user for me, because he can throw his Tomahawk without missing and that lets him also be very active as a chain attacker
My biggest issue with Boucheron's personal is that you don't have anybody to chain attack for him until you recruit Anna in like Chapter 7, so he goes for a good chunk of the early game with a personal that just doesn't do anything. After that point, though, it is a pretty solid personal presuming you haven't benched him by that point.

Panette on sniper with Lyn + alacrity / speed taker has been so good for me. With a killer bow +5 engraved by Corrin she has two chances to crit at like 85-100% chance with really high strength and HP.
I wish Normal or Hard had Fixed Growths. These RNG growths are pissing me off so much
Panette's skill is S tier, pair it with Ike's Wrath and a crit built Axe for nera 100% crit rate (and sometimes even 100%). The build I like is inheriting Wrath from Ike and Hit+ from Sigurd with her equipped with Emblem Roy for built in super Miracle to easily set up this strat and to give her survivability.
Yeah this tier list is garb. Take all the minor stat boost +2 res +3 strength on wait etc skills and shove them in F tier. Then take all the skills that boost crit and put them in S tier because they're all easy to abuse
Just thought about it and theoretically Citrines ability probably works a lot better with Celiacs skill that takes damage to boost magic damage. By attacking even without being counter hit you're setting up for an AOE vulnerary heal and if you combine that with the S bond ring that turns thunder into a brave weapon it's to fix Citrines shit speed it's probably not bad.
Why did you choose to judge the skills based on the units they’re on? Isn’t this just a unit tier list, rather than a personal skills tier list.
Things are not used in a vacuum :)
Inherit Resonance on Citrinne. She's naturally squishy so the HP cost won't mean much, it enables her passive to be a clutch AoE healer with elixirs without sacrificing damage (MAG+2/3). Obviously she's best suited for the Olwen ring and more times than not is spending her turn nuking, but AoE Elixirs to minimal combat cost is a very nice safety net.
I found Blood Fury to be fairly easy to proc because all it takes is one level up during the map and she's at -1 HP most of the time. Does take some luck to pull off, but at least she wouldn't be bleeding out with low Speed.
I've built High-Priest Lindon with Elsurge w/ Corrin's Engraving and Byleth as Emblem, inherited the skills of Vantage/Wrath. Tons of fun.
Ivy's skill is good objectively. It just feels bad to me because it seems like a skill meant to fix a part of her kit (low dex/hit) rather than emphasize her strengths
I agree with that time pressure statement, maddening is fire emblem for reinforcements the game. Also panette's crit build was amazing, slap ike on her teach her vantage + from Leif and hit +25 from sigurd and as long as she hits the enemy dies if it is melee.
Clanne is actually a very strong fighter character with his high speed, str, and dex growth with ok def and res. His only bad stat is hp and magic. Hp is easy to supplement though. So if you reclass him right away with a second seal he is actually one of the better high speed and str fighter units in the game.
I have Clanne as a mage knight in late game and he absolutely carries. I fed him up a bit to get extra health/magic in the early game. Also if you didnt want to spend the items in the early game, you can always inherit skills from corrin/celica to update health/magic.

@@davidmeredith1263 Yea I mean anyone can carry with enough investment. What makes a unit good is how strong they are without investment. Clanne is by no means a top tier unit but he definitely can be a solid unit if you respec him into a melee fighter since he has solid growths for a warrior or hero type class.
@@suzyocean7392 I'm not saying that he is top tier. But I would rather feed someone who isnt as good to get them up to par. The way I like to play is have a balanced team where everyone can stand on their own. So if I have to feed a few minor units to get to that point I dont mind that.
I agree with vander ability being meh. Tho he was very helpful in the beginning chapters when you have him as a jagen doing his jagen role
One thing I like to do with my Seadall is give him one of the Order of Heroes bond rings (usually the Sharena one). I don't like giving him an actual Emblem cause he won't be getting into fights to recharge the engage gauge (otherwise I'd give him Sigurd) and those rings have some useful support

It’s really easy to get Chloe to reach to thresholds, just slap the needed tonic on her + thoughtful positioning and you’re good to go!

Magic classes, he sucks on those. But everything else he is god tier haha. My favorite character probably.
You say Vander's skill is bad because (Vander is bad and) you need to stay next to something to proc it. But you can say the exact same for Louis's, no ? I'd even say Louis's is harder because you need 2 units next to him
Louis is a viable unit. Vander is hard to run in general due to his high internal level and bad bases.
Vander's skill is bad because you have to stay next one specific unit (Alear) in order to proc it. Louis's skill is much easier to activate because you only need two female units near him to proc. The latter is much easier to activate than the former. On top of this, +5 Crit isn't something worth setting up for while -2 damage is always helpful (especially on a unit that wants to take lots of hits).
Alcryst’s ability should be up with Chloé’s ability at least. It procs way more and has +1 damage
I prefer active vs reactive abilities but it is very strong. On Chloe I can dive with other flyers and proc it on demand while on Alcryst you need to get attacked and react. It does proc enough that it happens often though
@@IcedCoffeeGaming ahhh yeah that’s true. If you’re diving with a bunch of fliers like that then Alcryst probably wouldn’t be near them in a situation like that. But if the army is bunched up together like they want you to be then Alcryst’s is always going off. It’s a lot less to think about than Chloé’s too unless you’re using something like your flier strat
Hey mate I'm new here and I'm loving the content I believe you don't have the dlc but was wondering if you will be getting it 1 day to do your guide on the dlc maps
I think I will eventually, I can always do self imposed things to mitigate the advantages the DLC gives, which is mostly extra gold/weapons and extra emblem rings.
@Iced Coffee Gaming yea that's true you can the dlc maps and not use the staff you get from the dlc another thing you could do 1 day is do another playthrough where you can use the dlc rings to showcase them of as il be a fun playthrough
Do corrupted have specified genders? They all look male or maybe genderless to me. If they do count as male rosado and goldmary's abilities are much better than I thought
I coulda sworn they dont. I used rosado and his hit rates were pretty bad against any corrupted.
I think they still has sex, because some have a deep voice when they die and others little voice
Soren’s decoy skill is amazing btw, I’m working on the Camilla paralogue and gave him to Anna and that’s really saved my bacon a lot

@@magegeneral6988 Yeah, once Framme hits 28 or 30 HP that tactic is dead. The ring is meant to retire as soon as Framme gets benched and you have better rings to use.
Ivy one rounds most of her enemies for me with Lyn and Alacrity, so her ability basically never is used for me lol
