Dang dude. Every. Single. Time. Man, once again, you put out a video about something I'm researching to buy. You just sold me on the Mitsubishi! Wasn't even on my radar. Thanks!
Thank you very much for this piece. I had not realized that Festool has added the famous Blackwing pencils into their range but I am surprised you did not review the Blackwing sharpener. It has 2 sharpeners as part of a 2 step process 1. First shape the wood 2. Then the lead. With the Blackwing name on it the sharpener is expensive so look for the one sold by the real manufacturer: the KUM Automatic Long Point. I think you need a second part to your sharpener review because some sharpeners damage the lead near the point and the point cracks easily in use, so they have to be sharpened again very quickly causing a shortened pencil life. I think I could see this problem in some of your pencil tip close ups. But doesn’t everyone use a Japanese technical propelling pencil these days, especially those by Graphgear (Pentel in fact) or Ohto? Hence I don’t use my Blackwings for marking wood so I can’t say if the Automatic Long Point works well. Apart from that, I have always said people who use blunt pencils deserve everything they get, but that was in relation to plotting courses on nautical charts! PS don’t forget the Tombow Mono 100 which is a competitor to the Blackwing.
I was interested in the Blackwing pencils, because they don't roll off of the workbench. Unfortunately, it appears shipping is only available to North America.
My wife buys pencil for her Sunday school class. Course I get to sharpen all those pencils. That's where I put my FastCap tape measure in a vice and chuck-up the pencil in my drill to sharpen all those pencils. I only have one regular pencil in the shop, and that's for my center finder as I can't use a mechanical pencil in it, so my FastCap shapener works fine.
Never thought about pencil sharpeners. I will now. Thanks
Happy to help!

Glad it was helpful!
I just ordered Three Mitsubishi KH-20 sharpeners, two for my daughters, one’s a teacher, and one for the woodshop.

You're welcome!

so sorry !!!
Any hex pencil should stay put. Look into Mitsubishi and Tombow pencils. Just as good (IMHO) and half the price of Blackwings.
You're right, I do always forget about the sharpener on the FastCap.
Mee Too !!!!!
Never thought that much about them!
cool
