Thank you, that’s very kind of you! 😆 I couldn’t a few years back either, but I kept on trying, and slowly slowly getting better. But I still use a reference for all the illustrations. Hopefully one day I could draw my own original characters..
This was fantastic, thank you. Just ordered the One Piece Hon for this same purpose. I am just starting out with Japanese so it will be a practice for Hiragana and Katakana learning as well as writing out some shadowing exercises. Thanks for sharing. Beautiful illustrations!
Your illustration journals are so lovely! Of course I love the Luffy illustration! I'm so excited about my OP order from Hobonichi. I got my shipping notice yesterday.
Thank you so much, I like the luffy one too, one of the best ones I managed to draw😊 and I’m glad your order is on its way already, that’s exciting and quite quick!
I also use the left side of my weeks for memory keeping in japanese. 2025 i am moving to a day free, because i need more space now for language study. Really great illustrations!
Thank you very much 😀That’s a good sign if you need more space! If I tried to go bigger now I’d most likely fall too far behind, but hopefully in the future I might write more each day.
Excited to also use a techo next year for language learning/tracking~! I love the way you used yours i might steal the layout for a couple weeks lol. Very nice art as well I can tell you are improving. I am also getting back to learning Japanese after several years of only using it sporadically but meeting new friends and artists really motivated me to get back to it. Also have to freshen my portuguese since I don't want to gradually forget it. Good luck next year~~!
Thank you so much, and good luck to you as well! It feels very rewarding to learn a language, but frustrating when starting to forget it. I find writing Japanese each day even if I don’t speak daily helps a lot! ⛩️
I'm not into One Piece, but I love the 2025 weeks cover because it looks like he's painting, and I love art. I think your art will look amazing in this weeks. Have you ever added watercolor paints even as just an accent of color? It adds character and crinkle to the page. 😊
Thank you very much 😊 Though it is hard to tell, I am using some water color to block in clothes and hair etc. using “Zig clean color real brush”brush pens, and I go for very subtle colors (beige and gray in different nuances). It’s not enough to make the page crinkly though, but I write so hard the page bends and crinkles a bit anyway, lol. Once I’m more confident I might try full on water color though, which I love, but I struggle with even coats and blending still.
Thank you so much for sharing! I love the idea of using the weeks for language learning, maybe I should give that a try. I also love your art. I have a separate A6 techo just for art journaling and I'm wondering if I should switch to the weeks because I'm having trouble keeping up. However I do appreciate the A6 size when I do have something exciting to document. (Most of the time I have fun things to share, I just need to make time for art journaling about it) At the moment I'll keep my setup but I'll see how things go in the next few months 😄
Thank you so much 😁 I find it hard to keep up with art journaling as well. I also have a separate A6 for daily art journaling/practice. It’s not a Hobonichi though, and the paper of the one I use is not so good unfortunately. But next year I’ll try the MD Paper A5 codex, 1 page per day, I love the paper of all MD paper items for sketching and ink. Good luck for next year with your art!
wow!! hi himawari’s fiancé! your illustrations are awesome! :D 2024 was my first year taking language learning a bit more serious. I made it my goal to do 1 year of Japanese on Duolingo. I attended Japanese school as a kid but never made it very far. I can read and write hiragana and katakana and have some memory of vocab but I’m terrible at grammar. 🤣😭 What materials do you use to study? ganbatte-ne! 👏🏻 wishing you endless creative energy and ease in your nihongo no benkyo journey. 🙇🏻♀️
Thank you 🙏 That’s exciting with duolingo! And writing Hiragana and katakana is great, and what’s nice is you can write anything with it and then one can integrate kanji as you learn new ones. I’ve been using all kinds of materials, the early ones I liked the most were Genki and Minna no nihongo. Now I’m using テーマ別 中級から学ぶ日本語 〈三訂版〉 as textbook. I use bunpro.jp/ - not for learning grammar necessarily, but for retention and practice (has a monthly fee though). Best of luck to you with your learning!
🏴☠️Nice, I really love my red one 😁 Yea I have the issue as well of wanting more than I can use.. would’ve loved to buy the Doraemon, Godzilla and Mother weeks this year if I had time and use for them..
Wish I can draw something like that on my weeks. Really amazing video thank you for sharing this!

Luffy with a brush will look sick as a phone wallpaper.

Thank you for your kind words! That's so exciting, hope you like the Hon and best of luck with the japanese studies ✨️🇯🇵

Thank you for showing the hobinichi One Piece as I’ve ordered but haven’t received yet so exciting to see it!!
Yay, nice! I hope you’ll like it, the texture doesn’t come across well in photos, but it’s so nice 🏴☠️ 🏴☠️
