    i think you need to run the test again. call me crazy but there was some major contradictions on this test. the .22 showed on the gel that it has more penetration than the .25 but the bologna test showed the .25 having more penetration than the .22 something went wrong..

      Not necessarily it comes down to viscosity of the gel and the speed of each pellet the 22 cal moving about 100 fps faster and 10 grains lighter it will dump less energy into the target and use its speed to bore through the gel the .25 cal weighing 10 grains more and going about 100 fps slower will smack harder initially as you can see in the video and dump more energy into the target whilst leaving a more devastating wound channel

    Can you turn the regulator up to equal on the .25 cal? If so... would have been cool to see the penetration of the ballistics gel for that scenario. I’m sure it probably would have blown through... but it would be neat to see the damage . Thanks for showing us this!!

      The regulator set just creates better consistency finding the sweet spot for the Air rifles consistency for amount of shots. The hammer spring turns up or down for actual power.

    It shows that surface area is very important. Being that the .22 has a much smaller area and a greater speed that it would penetrate more. Mass x acceleration divided by surface area= pressure or force. That's why the gell experiment was so different between both calibers. Great job again.

    I'm curious about why you are keeping the FPE equal in the latest videos. All that will be measured in this case is the impact difference between the calibers. Of course, if that is what you want to check, good setup. For myself, I look for performance indicators - ie. How much more performance can I get with "X" gun? In such a setup, it checks which gun has more performance and target effectiveness - regardless of the caliber or speed.

    • @greg6162
      @greg6162 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      A .177 would take a coyote with a perfect heart shot. However, to humanely dispatch a coyote and drop it so it doesn’t go running off wounded. It’s all about shot placement and the more FPE will give you some wiggle room for shot placement and (some) margin of error. Especially if you’re trying to protect livestock you want to make that shot count. I would just use a Ruger 10/22 with less margin of error going for a head shot. In the end people are going to use what they have but shot placement is always the most important IMO.

    Wouldnt it make more sence to set the guns at the same power level to see the power diffrence between the projectiles . When you set them to the same energy level You're going to see the same result every time which is the 22 cal will penetrate more because it has less surface area and less resistance . I think most people are hunting birds, squirrels and maybe raccoon size animals. You typically get 100% full pass through with both calibers so there's no point of trying to get more penetration more energy in a bigger wound channel would be better
