    Kevin, this the the most excited you’ve been in 5 years.
    Those are some nifty gadgets and very reasonable for any budget. Since you travel light this is the perfect item!

    I've enjoyed your videos for years. Late to subscribe, but a frequent viewer.

    I think having the female connectors on the end makes sense from a reliability/maintainability standpoint. The female connector won't break as easily. Use the male pin to male pin jumper where it is more likely to break. One thing in regards to the rounded waveforms at higher frequencies, perhaps those unshielded wires are contributing to the rounded waveforms due to their capacitance?

    I bought the Analog Discovery 2 from Digilent years ago when they had a "Ham Bundle". It's been a great tool for casual experimentation. This seems similar, with the addition of the tiny screen. If you don't have a scope or a function generator then I highly recommend starting with a device of this type. You'll be able to learn how these instruments work and they perform well enough for most of what you'll do as a hobbyist on HF. You'll never completely outgrow them. By the time you need a better X, Y or Z - you'll need 2 of X, Y or Z!

    Fully charger the zoolark and see if it still freezes at the 1m function generator output.
    Thank you for the video.

    Great video Kevin. I suspect that they used female pins on the breakout plugin so there would be no possibility of shorting one wire to another.

    👍'ickle test equipment looks nice. Good for hobbyists on a budget. Perhaps useful to have in a toolkit. Even if you have a "proper" function generator as an RF source, you could use the ZOOLARK as an AF source (testing a mixer for example). So, could be very useful when you need an extra function generator or scope? Of course, for hams, having something this size that goes up to, say, 100MHz would be very nice.

    Good to see this and as you say "it has it's uses". I'm guessing the power unit is sized for metric breadboards and your old faithful might be imperial?

    Great review. I think the female breakout makes sense from the perspective of accidentally shorting something.

    The zoolark - perhaps a bluetooth output and a phone app?

    Nice kit... except I have the same issue. Would be nice on a 4.3" screen

    A business plan based on products that only people under 30 with 20:20 vision can use would seem to have some limitations.

    The small size so it will fit in a pocket would be great for on-the-go electronics experimentation, such as during a long plane or car ride, or while bicycling.
    Get my point? 🙂

      Not sure how popular you would be onboard a passenger plane with these gadgets... If you even got through the security check. 🤪😁

    Kevin, Great overview on a couple of cool little devices. I also can envision several uses for them .Any ballpark indication as to what the final price range will be on these and the release date?

    It would be great if it could be set up for (+) & (--) 15V. I'm much more into op-amps, than digital.

    Looks like the polarity does not match the breadboard. They should offer a polarity switch.

    The zoolark for $125 is a very bad deal. Look at a Hantek 272 scope, dmm, func generator for about $175. It is totally superior for $50 more.

      Anyone interested can follow the web link in the description. I was just having a look at what they do.

    • @R50_J0
      @R50_J0 ปีที่แล้ว

      In your first truSDX video you mention the price at 1 minute, 18 seconds in. Just sayin'.
      Two things hams want to know as soon as possible in a TH-cam gadget video: what does it do and how much does it cost.
      Unless it's about an Elecraft product, then price doesn't matter apparently. 🙂

    why did you use metric dimensions ? And not American ..

    • @loughkb
      @loughkb  ปีที่แล้ว

      fully half of my audience or more use the metric system. so I decided to use metric this time. Anybody can use a calculator to figure one from the other.
