    We have a new Chessie puppy and love the video, can't stop watching it! Perfect audio visual demonstration of the difference between a Lab and a Chessie - but please throw two balls so poor Kyla can have one too.

      Kat B truth is you could have your chessie beside this one and the same thing happens. This is not an indicator of the difference between the two breeds. The one dog is just better and more aggressive at retrieving the ball. Try that with my chocolate would be a toss up. Don’t be hating on Labrador’s bros!!!!!

      @@bigdawgggbachi5394 There is no hate for labs on the comment. I've had both Labs and Chessies. They may look the same, but they are a very different breed. That's just a fact. There is a saying that goes: "You can order a lab; ask a golden; but you must negotiate with a Chesapeake." Chessies are aloof, strong, and protective. Our Chessie killed anything that got onto our property. She even jumped my uncle when he came in unannounced once (back before people had to lock their doors at night). Labs are overall more friendly and not as stubborn making them an ideal breed for guide dogs, etc. I don't favor one breed over the other, but on average, a Chessie is going to be the stronger dog when pitted up against a Lab.

    I wouldn't say "outwitting"... There is an OBVIOUS difference in training and experience here. Both of these dog breeds are powerhouses, no doubt about it. But, all you Chessie lovers in this thread shouldn't be so quick to trash talk Labradors, just look and see which breed holds more records in distance jumps, speed, and recoveries. Nothing wrong with Bays and nothing wrong with Labs, in my opinion you need one of each! All in all nice video, but throw two balls to avoid some problems.

      well right now i got a 4 year old black lab, a 1 year old yellow lab, and a 1.5 year old chessie, plus a weimaraner that can out fetch both labs all day but we arent talking about him but i can vouch for the chessie when it comes to strength, speed and over all pyhisical abilities. our chessie by the time he was 6 months was already swimming as fast and as long as our lab and before he was a year old he was hurdling himself yards farther in the water than our lab ever good and could go for hours with out getting distracted or getting tired while by that time our lab is lying down panting watching my chesse keep going and well our yellow lab isnt a slouch but

    • @brennangibson7199
      @brennangibson7199 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      cant keep up at all to our chessie our our other lab. yes labs have more titles but over 30,000 labradors are registered in the usa every year meanwhile only 4,000 chessies are registred every year by the akc. so with the labs blown up numbers and low price and easy accessiblity of course they will have more titles than the more expensive and rare dog. and in the ice and extreme cold waters our chessie never even shakes or shivers and can take alot more pain and work load in the cold against the ice while our labs will both shiver and be more reluctant to barrel through ice and its alot harder keeping a lab in shape as well from my experience. the chessie is natural bigger and more athletic and carries less fat while a lab can get obese much easier inbetween hunting seasons and such. a lab wont be outwitted but in every other category they will be beat. and the training level or experience doesnt mean much because with my labs they had to be trained from an ealy agae to swim and like water while my chessie and others literally will swim naturally like its nothing at 3 months old and will be flying in to the water before they are 6 months just because there bloodlines are so tight and so close to the original dog they do not compare to a lab when raised by the same person and trained accordingly the chessie always rules over the lab.

    • @alquinn3562
      @alquinn3562 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Agreed. I have owned both and like to mess with lab folks only because I’ve taken a lot of crap off the lab folks who don’t feel chessies should be in the hunt test games. So I refer to labs as “starter retrievers” just to gig them a little. Been around hard charging labs and my current chessie is a diva and while not worthless in the field is more of a house pet. ( great possum dawg😉)My male Chesapeake was a pain in the ass but one of the best retrievers I’ve ever owned. So it’s all good. Both breeds have their athletes and their couch potatoes.

    My dog named "Tippu" is a Labradoodle straight hair version, originated in Australia. Chesapeake Bay Retriever or Chessie is an American Breed originated in the United States, the Labrador Retriever on the other hand originated in Canada just much like where Justin Bieber was born in.

  • @Chesamomom

    great video, it shows the fundamental difference in drive between a chessie and a lab. A chessie has a direct drive mode programmed in, not influenced by outside factors. The lab, well, some do, some don't.

    • @megadeth22885
      @megadeth22885 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      what are you talking about? theres no difference in drive, the CBR is just jumping further., nothing more, the lab has no hesitation going in

    • @joshrichards5153
      @joshrichards5153 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +megadeth22885 Lol, jumping farther is not all that is happening here. The CBR can retrieve from ice cold water and many other rough conditions while sustaining through all of it. Its hind legs are powerful and its drive is superior to this Labrador retriever. The Labrador can't simply get anywhere close.

    • @joshrichards5153
      @joshrichards5153 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      0:56 is where you can see the Labrador getting frustrated or realizing that it's too slow, lol.

    Disregard previous comment. Obviously he must be the proud owner of purse puppy of some type like a Yorkie or Havanist. That lab will eventually catch on. CBRs are like labs on work release, very tough and loyal.

    +whisperingsilhouette Here is my attempt at telling you what I think of the video, and at the same time not trying to be an @$$hole like "you-know-who". Here it goes: Nice video, and mad jumping skills on that Chesapeake :). I did feel sorry for that Lab never getting to the ball first, though. You should bring two balls so they can catch one each :). I'm sure that will be much more enjoyable for the Labrador. I did notice how close he was to landing on top of the Lab, and with one ball each, that won't be an issue either. Two birds with one stone! Those dogs are beautiful! Give them a treat for me ;) .
