SWET....sit back, relax, watch Dean work his magic!!!!!!
35:30 It's actually not the wrong cap; 451533-2 (old stock) got modified a couple of years ago into 455393-4 to prevent the turn/stuck issue.
The soulution for 455393-4 to work properly is to leave the rubber ring out.
If you look at Makita's DR242z current diagram it will show the new cap and comment on the rubber ring will be: not needed on 455393-4
thats handy to know thanks 👍
Honestly, you’re worth your weight in gold with the amount of experience you have.
ITS MAKITA TIME!!!!!!!
Woohoo!!!!!
Thanks for the DHR243 and 242 hammer drills now I learnt a lot on them thanks Dean for a great makita video 👍😊😊
For convenience those cordless SDS drills seem very popular. It's easy to see why.
I just rewatched the first one yesterday. YAY. Another one.🎉🎉
Thanks Dean!!!! Keep up the great work!!!
So satisfying video❤❤
great video dean i have one of these sds's but the twin 18v so glad to see these are so easily repairable
отличная работа!
Top Video and a couple surprises as well. Well done!
As an electrician my cordless makita sds are perfect.
Yet another fantastic video of you saving all those potential landfill candidate's. That Impact driver that was all rusted and abused, i was like "Naaaaa Bin IT!" obviously owner don't give a damn and had no intention of spending time on it. When will ppl realize that power tools are not waterproof ?. Anyway, Thank's Dean for the repairathon, Thoroughly enjoyed watching you work your magic.
Was that 9" grinder missing a field securing screw if so that backing out might have been the cause of the fan blade bending and damaging the field winding
Bed time viewing
i put these on and always fall asleep 😂 it’s like asmr
I thought i was the only oddball!
Me too
I do that too 😂
Nice one.
37:58 you have taught me well dean, i spotted that sleeve mistake (yes i learnt that from you). So i was shouting at the screen 😂
Dean, you are definitely a fine artist in your work! Another great video to say thank you for!!
On the last tool, the grinder, I couldn't help but wonder what happened to the broken blade on the fan? I would've worried that it was still stuck inside of the tool... Thank you sir and be safe please!!✌️🤘👊
looked like it had been broken for some time. more than likely it had already fallen out. but this is what caused the damage in the field.
Just made coffee happy days.
34:27 big spark
Even though he never said it, you can just imagine that when the wire broke on the first drill, Dean's thought and reaction in his head was "you fecker!!!"
Dean, why dont you pour a bag of concrete on a bucket to test the tools? I feel bad every time you use the side of the workbench or the beated up transformer 😅
That first SDS drill must've been tryin to do some morse code or something haha
Re the fan on the grinder. Wouldn't a quicker fix be to cut one fan blade from the opposite side to the missing blade? For an old machine, would it effect much?
🤔 interesting idea... probably a good solution if no spare fan is available? I will keep this thought in mind.
Good catch Dean 38:45
Nice repairthon.i only wished you gave some protective coating on the field windings of that 9 inch angle grinder
👍👍
Hi Dean, I have a question: I have a Makita BO6030 random orbit sander. When I plug it in and switch on, it appears to works fine. However, as soon as I apply any pressure to start sanding, I can hear the motor struggling and it slows to a stop. As soon as I lift it off the wood, it spins normal again. I have checked the carbon brushes, the switch, the armature and the lead, all of which seem fine. Do you have any ideas as to why it does this? Could it be dodgy bearing(s) on the way out? Hoping you could give me a clue what to check next 🤞
It could be a bad bearing yes. If the bottom bearing is stiff, it will be acting like a power sander.
@@deandohertygreaser Thanks Dean, yes I had a suspicion that it might be the bearings in the counterweight fan, I'll check it out tomorrow and let you know👍
need to get you some more steel to put where you test drills before it collapses 😁
Repairing tools with ⚒️
Where did you buy that spindle holding socket when you repaced the chuck 58:00?
i made it out of a broken makita gearbox and a deep impact socket
@deandohertygreaser thanks. That sounds about right. All good tools are made out of necessity. Great job on that and all your repairs. Really enjoy your videos.
@deandohertygreaser can you maybe do a video on your tools you made yourself?
1:33:04 better to replace with a Hex Phillips crosshead bolt.
Genius Girl would just rewind that stator (whether it needed it or not.) 🙂
51:01 You've got to know when to hold 'em... Know when to fold 'em... Know when to walk away... And know when to run
Words to live by
The 9 in grinder looked like it was missing one screw in the field.
A screw in the field? Aye , why not??
34:26 sparkly chuck??
The big 9 inch grinder was it missing a screw for the field or won't it make a difference?
I don’t use hammer drills so maybe a stupid question but are they supposed to wobble like that?
yeah but it tends to be long or cheap bits or bent drill bits that make this happen
just the makitas and dewalts, my bosch is smooth and solid both the SDS and the normal drill.
What is the brand of the chuck you put on at 00:59:00? And where can they be bought? Looked like a decent chuck.
any hardware shop will sell chucks
Did you find broken fan leaf inside the last old big grinder?
no, it was already out, checked but nothing inside
Was the first SDS drill not under warranty?
Just a single tool not repaired because of water damage. Makita wins the repairathon again by a large margin.
Makitas new pulse drilling machine
Old Makita stuff was bullet proof. I dont know what went wrong.
HANG ON: No circuit test, in fact no shown tests at all. Would I buy a refurbished electric tool off this wonder boy? Only if I wanted an electric shock.
What are you talking about
34:28 thank me later
