I thought that art looked familiar--it's Gil Kane, who's probably best known for his work on the Silver Age Green Lantern and the Atom, although he did lots of other stuff, too. Argh, it looks like Kane just did the first story. Wikipedia says that Frank Springer took over the art with subsequent issues. Love those painted covers! That was one way Dell/Gold Key stood out from other comic book publishers. Dinosaurs, time machines, robots, AND aliens? This IS amazing!! Also, I hope Dark Horse doesn't give you any grief over using Brain Boy. They shouldn't, what with the character being PD, but companies get weird ideas, sometimes.

There has been a recent comic reboot of Brain Boy by Fred van Lente and Freddie Williams II, published by Dark Horse. However, it seems it's been dormant since 2014.
This is by far the most interesting and engaging character you’ve come across yet. Each of the original comics could easily be made into a Christopher Nolan-style blockbuster. “Telepathic 007” is instantly cool with so much potential. Excited to see what you do with the character!
The history of Dell is a bit more complicated then what was said in the video. However that being said I am glad more people are finding these forgotten stores that were produced. Dell basically covered everything except superheros (mostly) and horror (not including movies). There are a lot of titles to choose from!

I used to write down my ideas for super heroes, got a handful of unique ones, that I never seen anywhere else. Your recent videos inspired me to pick up the habit again, maybe at some point we can team up and do something with them.
I think the most interesting part of this from a writing perspective is the dramatic backstory to explain the protagonist's powers that, while not common, are still held by enough other people to make it seem like something that could have developed more incidentally.

Dark Horse was supposed to do that. They did a hardcover archive reprint of the character. Since then, one of the PD comic book reprinters brought it out, they are over on Lulu.

I feel like Brain Boy would make a fascinating ally for Cat-Man… Given his super-intelligence and psychic skills, he’d be a critical asset in a criminal case. Maybe Cat-Man’s secret identity ends up partnering up with Matt to deal with a mob boss (if I had to make any suggestions for a Public Domain bad guy, my money is either on The Bookworm or The Panther King). Matt knows about the boss’ plans (after hearing his thoughts), and provides info to our local detective about the case. Later on, the pair team up to face the bad guy together. During the scuffle, Cat-Man is injured and almost dies… But before he can use up another of his lives, Matt uses his powers to control a goon to perform chest compressions on Cat-Man, reviving him. (That or maybe the fight’s in a hospital, and the goon uses electric paddles to jumpstart Cat-Man’s heart).
Nice recap. I have issues 2 through 6 of Brain Boy. I'd like to read your take of the character. I love those old Dell comics. If you want some really great super hero comics, get Dell's Super Heroes. That's the actual title of the comic.
Initially, I thought that this was going to be a video about the spy character you were incorporating into the SuperZeroes before ("The Master of Disguise"), but . . . SURPRISE!!! It's something even crazier, and ALSO part of the new universe! Well done! The interesting thing about this premise is that it's like the brighter side of the coin to "Stranger Things" this kind of psychic espionage is precisely what those freaks at MK-ULTRA thought they were doing before their funding got cut off . . . which kind of leads you to wonder who was prompting the famously un-original Dell Comics to publish this in the first place . . . The interesting thing about this premise is that it's like the brighter side of the coin to "Stranger Things" this kind of psychic espionage is precisely what those freaks at MK-ULTRA thought they were doing before their funding got cut off . . . which kind of leads you to wonder who was prompting the famously un-original Dell Comics to publish this in the first place . . .
