There are only 3 jobs that require you to be at the expansion to unlock them. Because their unlock quests are in the expansion areas, sre Astrologian, Dark Knight, and Machinist. The other expansion jobs quests start in one of the 3 starting cities snd their requirements are that you need to have beaten base ARR, and are the appropriate level to unlock. For example, when Dawntrail releases, you can unlock them even if youre still progressing through heavensward, but you will need at least a level 80 job to accept thr quest.
Yeah, I unlocked Dancer as soon as I reached 60 towards the end of Heavensward (I'd mained a bard before that), then played dancer as my main up through Endwalker, even though the class was only introduced in Shadowbringers.
I just started playing Final Fantasy 14 a few months ago. I’m so sad that I missed all this time not understanding how amazing it is. I was a WoW player since 2005, on and off. I got into FF14 Online when I saw the 'Shadowbringers' expansion trailer. I jumped into the FF14 Online MSQ grind from the start but eventually got very burnt out and stopped mid-2022, just after meeting the Loporrits. When I heard about the new 'Dawntrail' expansion and saw the new class 'Pictomancer,' I had to come back, and so I did. I'm back at the MSQ grind, but thankfully, I don't have to start from the very beginning of the FF14 Online story. I'm picking up from where I stopped, on the Moon with the Loporrits. Now, the challenge is remembering the many inventory systems, skill rotations, location shortcuts, and everything else. I have a lot of 'blue' quests scattered all over the place that I haven't done yet because of the MSQ grind. It sucks having to only do the MSQ grind to play the brand-new expansion. I completely forgot how long the storylines are. Right now, I just finished fighting the big lady in front of a big crystal. I highly recommend never skipping or skimming the MSQ content. The story from the start to the current is worth your time. Just make sure to take small breaks from the MSQ and do some normal side quests and blue quests. The MSQ-only grind will wear you down and take you away from the game, like it did to me.
6:41 You talked about playing Reaper, but then showed Astro and then Samurai... It was a bit confusing, is all. Also Reaper (like Sage) starts at level 70.
I literally purchased Final Fantasy 14 yesterday. I'm a huge FF fan, and now I've got my rog ally, I thought it would be the perfect game to sink my teeth into. I'm hoping I'm not wrong
I remember trying out ffxiv back around 2015 on the ps3, besides not being able to afford a subscription back then, I just felt overwhelmed already lol. I consider picking this game up once in a while, but I also don't want to sink all of my time into it
My question is when I go to steam for the complete edition it's only Dawntrail ( I already have the OG game) so do I need to find heaven sword and buy it additionally?
Hey, a good friend of mine is would love to go back to FF 14. The problem is, she played really much FF14 till the end of endwalker. And has a max level character with completed story and I never had touched FF14. Now she would love to go in for Dawnrail and I kinda consider to start the game so I do not get "lost", if you know what I mean. My question is, I´m thinking to buy the game with the story skips. So that I can join the new content with her together. Is the story skip only for 1 character? So could I create another one to get in touch with the full story, while playing alone? Or do I miss that option completely when I buy a story skip?
@@Unholymoon93 I’ve never brought a story skip personally, but I’d assume it’s to your character. @@loatwec so I’ll give a brief run down of how the new lottery system works. If it isn’t claimed than all Gil is lost. If a winner chooses to decline their new house they lose half of their purchase gil. Once this results period ends all the houses will enter the next entry period.
If I wanted to get into this game and play it mostly like a single player final fantasy game, only really grouping when required to progress the storyline. What 3 class choices would be best for that kind of playthrough of this game?
2:03 "Can't I just skip the story?" If you seriously think like this you mind as well just skip the game. I don't understand how people have become like this. It's like... some people want to be able to claim they've "played" the game without actually experiencing what the game offers. It's like listening to someone talk about how great a game is, then claiming you played it because your friend told you all about it. You can't understand why so many people love FFXIV if you skip the experience of actually progressing through the game as it is intended.

This sub comes to about £7.50 USD but may be different depending in your region.
When you say the story is good. Does that include a realm reborn? The rant below is ignorable, i mainly wanna confirm the above. All i remember is i hate the walking sands(shifting sands), especially the quest giver milfina. Because all her quests was walk here, with no easy teleport access. (Mabye thats changed.) Go somewhere. Now walk all the way back. Felt like my whole experience was, walking back and forth from her, and i dont say this lightly. I genuinely hate that character because of it.
What about job quest lines, just started loving the game! Been following some job quest lines just wondering if they are also good or more of a skip and chill kinda thing
They'll less important than the main story, but there are some cool little stories on some of them. And you unlock new spells for your jobs :) definately worth doing
@@MedievalMarty sweet, I’ve been following a few story lines like scholar and conjuror, but Duno if I wanna follow all of them! Maybe I’ll stick with these two and level others later and it will be easier to just chill and follow there stories also :)
A very popular thing to do at endgame is to do daily roulettes - where people que into random content, raids, trials, dungeons etc for rewards. Helping new players do content as they go through the story. So you should have no problem going through everything.
Yes its very common for roulletes as said above, One thing to note is because both new jobs this expansion are designed jobs queues may be really bad for a dps for a while
Thanks, I'm thinking about giving it a try and yours was the perfect video. What if I wanna do the older dungeons and raids, is there an option for that? Also what if really hate the weird small girl race lol? Last time it really bothered me 😂
People grind old content on daily when doing random dungeon and raids. Have no fear friend and if you don’t understand a mechanic just ask. The season players will explain it for you!!
man would love to play this game again just got no money to pay for monthly sub huhu whaha bought the game on console and pc never got to finish endwalker great game though
What about someone who knows little to nothing about Final Fantasy? Would they be able to understand whats going on? I know very little about Final Fantasy. I'm looking for a fresh MMORPG, I've looked at this game years ago but never actually played it. It looks interesting and fun, I've also heard the community is pretty decent, too, so that's a plus. I was considering WoW, but then I remembered horror stories about how "toxic" the community is in and around the game. Essentially, I'm looking for an mmo that will provide a lot of content and enjoyment without pushing the cash shop down your throat. How friendly is this game to new players? What's the crafting situation like in this game? Having played mmos before, i never really get the opportunity to do group content as most guilds, kins, groups generally don't want someone new, or get mad because im lacking dungeon/raid gear, yet refuse to help me learn and earn said gear. Apologies for the text wall.
Game is very welcoming for new players. You don't need any final fantasy knowledge to play, it pretty much is its own game, just with the final fantasy lore. Some of the endgame is tied to guilds, but its very easy to gear up and find parties to do almost everything in the game as a single player :) same with crafting, can be done totally solo
Or you can be like me, not be interested in the story and play the game which I like. I skipped all the cutscenes but around lvl 50 I stopped playing. Looking to get back into it because I do like the gameplay. I just want to get lost in it and grind for top tier loot. Im a filthy hoarder as well so I have all kinds of useless items that Ill figure out how to properly dispose of. Its s good game. Look forward to going back.
i mean i play the old ff14 and it sucks after reborn and with stormblood i start play normal and fall in love with this game. It feels old and the should rework the ui! But now after another 3 expansions i buy the complete game on xbox again and love to play it sometimes.
ps: even from start to the new expansion you should listen the story. You play 1000h before you coming to the last expansion. The good thing is you dont need to skip the story because the first 2 expansions are insanly good and then decide what you doing with you playtime. Like doing some raids or dungeons or story. The game give you so mutch, really hope the update the ui and graphics its time before the next expansion and consoles.
its not a big wall. its A MASSSSSIVE wall and time to play the new xpac. square needs to fix this. i cant even get friends to play the game because of how long it takes to catch up
Some people just like the game play and not 200 hours of questing. Story skipping then leveling 15-80 in dungeons to understand the game then endwalker msq is good enough for some.
There’s nothing to fix. There is no need to rush to catchup. Idk why ppl have this idea that they NEED to be in current content asap. People are obsessed with getting to the end when the journey is the best part.
@@omegaxtrigun there is nothing to fix in your opinion. But when people have played thousands of hours of mmos they don't want a forced questing experience that to be honest is not that fun. It's all running and talking with little kill oriented quests and with all dungeons and trials locked behind it there is no mixing the experience up along the way. Some people simply like the game style. I personally did all the msq and am super excited for Dawntrail but I totally would have rather story skipped personally and then chose to level the way I wanted.
I played through the free trail till level 50 something it it was awful to doing the MSQ. Maybe when you play the game as it updated it's serviceable but the quest are garbage tier and never end.
This is what I did. I've been away from the game since the end of heavensward. I paid for a skip and a job boost to 90. I am so far behind I took dawntrail as a catalyst to start at the new "ground floor" with the rest of the players otherwise I'll get to dawntrail when the next expansion comes out lmfao
As someone who has 0 nostalgia for WoW and Ffxiv and lineage, i cant find any reason to pay for the expansions and sub for those VERY outdated games in terms of combat and graphics Dont get me wrong, im trying to get a reason to start any of those games but considerjng i never played them to feel the nostalgia at least is hard for a newcomer to feel attracted in any way by those The only one that catch my eye at the moment is GW 2 for 2 reasons, makes me feel like jm trying 4story again as i played it when i was a kid and second because its buy to play (if i will end up taking the expansions) and not sub based 😅
I couldnt disagree more, after reaching lvl 70 I can say that there was a few interesting moments but the characters are the most boring well mannered and have the most repetetive, redundant meaningless conversations 95% of the time. Characters have boring back storys and the voice acting makes sound like an old childrens cartoon. I just wanted to turn to evil side put an end to that hell of world. FF actually is Focking Fuckers. Just try it for free and dont waste any money on such low budget piece of crap.
Thanks for watching :)

Is it normal to feel like every class hits with a wet noodle?
Im having fun, I just wish my gear made a tangible difference c:
Does it add more voice acting later on? I'm getting so tired reading everything, i'm two hours in.
I wish I could say it does. They drop the ball in this area for sure!
When you say the story is good. Does that include a realm reborn?
The rant below is ignorable, i mainly wanna confirm the above.
All i remember is i hate the walking sands(shifting sands), especially the quest giver milfina.
Because all her quests was walk here, with no easy teleport access. (Mabye thats changed.)
Go somewhere.
Now walk all the way back.
Felt like my whole experience was, walking back and forth from her, and i dont say this lightly. I genuinely hate that character because of it.
I fw this game just wish it wasn’t a subscription since I’m already paying for hella dlc
Maybe I’ll stick with these two and level others later and it will be easier to just chill and follow there stories also :)
thanks so much, great vid
Will people still be doing old dungeons / raids with new expansion coming out? I’m a new player and want to do every raid available
A very popular thing to do at endgame is to do daily roulettes - where people que into random content, raids, trials, dungeons etc for rewards. Helping new players do content as they go through the story. So you should have no problem going through everything.
@@MedievalMarty nice
Yes its very common for roulletes as said above,
One thing to note is because both new jobs this expansion are designed jobs queues may be really bad for a dps for a while
@@BeanSandwiches That makes sense. Waiting in queue is a nightmare as is. Hoping for a better turnaround with more people playing.
Thinking about getting back in game last time i played game was last year
man would love to play this game again just got no money to pay for monthly sub huhu whaha bought the game on console and pc never got to finish endwalker great game though
damn,..100+ hrs before i can play the new expansion…i wish i have this time…😢
Yeah I think its a big problem now that we have so many expansions.. really they create some sort of catch up story
@MedievalMarty Thank you
Or you can be like me, not be interested in the story and play the game which I like.
Just started two days ago! I'm liking it a lot so far! But yeah the first part feels pretty dated for sure
i mean i play the old ff14 and it sucks after reborn and with stormblood i start play normal and fall in love with this game.
It’s free to level 60! It’s amazing try it out at least
I'm sure this is a great game, but this confirms that I won't play it. I didn't know the game was played from a birds eye view perspective
You can zoom the camera in to play it like any other game but its preferable to play it zoomed out so you can see all the mechanics and such
I really want to play but there is no way to sub.
its not a big wall. its A MASSSSSIVE wall and time to play the new xpac. square needs to fix this.
i cant even get friends to play the game because of how long it takes to catch up
I tell people before they play... if you're not having fun with the msq and stopping to do the co tent when ya get to it, this isn't the game for you.
@@omegaxtrigunfomo
@@omegaxtrigun there is nothing to fix in your opinion. But when people have played thousands of hours of mmos they don't want a forced questing experience that to be honest is not that fun. It's all running and talking with little kill oriented quests and with all dungeons and trials locked behind it there is no mixing the experience up along the way. Some people simply like the game style. I personally did all the msq and am super excited for Dawntrail but I totally would have rather story skipped personally and then chose to level the way I wanted.
Cool game but the community can be really weird. There’s some zones I just stay out of.
Stopped playing after they deleted my home. Not doing it again
I played through the free trail till level 50 something it it was awful to doing the MSQ.
Maybe when you play the game as it updated it's serviceable but the quest are garbage tier and never end.
You can pay to skip some of the expansion.
As someone who has 0 nostalgia for WoW and Ffxiv and lineage, i cant find any reason to pay for the expansions and sub for those VERY outdated games in terms of combat and graphics
Dont get me wrong, im trying to get a reason to start any of those games but considerjng i never played them to feel the nostalgia at least is hard for a newcomer to feel attracted in any way by those
The only one that catch my eye at the moment is GW 2 for 2 reasons, makes me feel like jm trying 4story again as i played it when i was a kid and second because its buy to play (if i will end up taking the expansions) and not sub based 😅
I couldnt disagree more, after reaching lvl 70 I can say that there was a few interesting moments but the characters are the most boring well mannered and have the most repetetive, redundant meaningless conversations 95% of the time. Characters have boring back storys and the voice acting makes sound like an old childrens cartoon. I just wanted to turn to evil side put an end to that hell of world. FF actually is Focking Fuckers. Just try it for free and dont waste any money on such low budget piece of crap.
Just came here to say fora a "wow killer" i sure get alot of adds for this dweeb game and none for wow
Jesus Loves all of you guys
naa its a dead game, so nope :)
FINAL FANTASY 14 IS TRASH
can we play this in Philippines?
yes they have asia server but its a subscription based game you can play the free trial though
