What a pointless waste of my time!
TL.DR !
I totally agree! Still a light bulb! I guess you might find 1 decent tip in every 100. Most are rubbish.
In future, go to the end product and see if it's actually any good!
I knew what I was in for when I read the title. Funny how much I find myself jumping to the end of a video, only to find that I should have down-voted the thing without bothering to watch any of it. ~~~ And, what a messy hack. There's no reason to cut open a capacitor to get a reflector.
What NATO to do with this? Do you know what NATO is and what it does?
ikr
I don´t think so. Maybe he thinks tat NATO is like the Miscatonic university.
It's a keyword, sport. Welcome to YT. This is the lowest common denominator of YT videos. And commenting on the videos won't change a thing. :)
Yeah... they light light bulbs.
The bulb will last a long time if you remove finger prints with alcohol before you turn it on.
I was watching the unwrapping and thinking the same thing , now they will know .
If it's quartz then true. Does not look like it's getting sufficient voltage. The benefit of quartz running as designed to run is the filament vapors don't deposit on it rapidly.

. *I'm surprised this person didn't drag this out more by showing the process of purchasing the bulb and waiting for it to come in the mail. Here's something for people actually looking for a great use of these bulbs; incandescent bulbs in place of fuses can be used as indicators of shorts, and is common in telecommunications, and they can also be used to supply power to circuits with shorts while troubleshooting.*
I would like to see how he cut the piece of wood he's using. I don't think I can figure out a way to do that on my own.
I'm sure that NATO has several professors who consult for them. But this aside, there's no such person as a "NATO Professor".
NATO is a treaty organization, not an educational institution.
nato are just CRIMINALS, GENOCIDES AND MASONS, and a sales agent of the military industrial complex, no more
If you google "nato professor" and then search videos, you'll see a whole bunch of videos by a whole bunch of different people saying "Even NATO professors don't know....".... Like it's a thing. One fool used it, so the others copied, either as a joke/meme or just out of ignorance. It's a many videos by several channels too.
It is called using a hot air heat gun no need to worry about what "NATO Professors" ( Of what? do or don't know ). Also, the guy making the video knows nothing about not touching the glass of QH lamps as the grease in his fingers causes them to have a shortened life and should be cleaned with alcohol-based solvent before applying current. please inform the "professor" for me! As a mere Electrical engineer.
NATO professor????? ISS professor?????? WHAT are you talking about?? Neither NATO or the ISS are learning institutions.
I am thinking the same. Those capacitors are expensive. Costs more than a flashlight.
I didn't know NATO actually had professors I thought it was a military alliance, not a university.
...and I didn't know that they didn't know that light bulbs make light.
He used a Light bulb and connected it to a Battery and made a . . . . . . . .
. . . . . Flashlight !
Somebody better tell the NATO Professor !
No he made a soldering too, I guess you didn't skip through to near the end? 😉
NATO professor my arse. They would commission the manufacturing facility to use focussed infrared light - a decades old technique that you've just discovered, albeit, in a really rather crude and unfocussed way where other components are also unintentionally subjected to heat. If you ever get so far as to consult a component datasheet, you'll find the manufacturer temperature profile of heat over time for each component (it's an integrating area under the curve thing) and you'll soon discover that you're probably exceeding the rated profiles. By the way, we can overlook your use of the incorrect crimpers on those terminals but handling the crystal glass of the halogen with your greasy fingers and not wiping it clean with isopropyl alcohol before energising it was just downright dumbness.
NATO professor? What is that?
It's called keyword spamming, welcomg to YT
You've not heard about the scientific subject called NATO?
Who needs a hot air station lol
light bulbs will be a lot cheaper
@@kinginventions Exactly. For the price of a decent hot air station you can make 476 light bulb heaters ;)
I love this video.
@@guyh3403 Thank you very much. Please share this video
Não sabia que tinha professor na Otan.😂😂😂
Believe me, ''Even NATO professor" cant imagine, I've made a room-heater with plenty of bulbs! 🤣🤣
that… that was incredible!!! did you see the part in the middle where nothings happening then suddenly it gradually changed to something similar to nothing?!
I was waiting my whole life for this video! Finally I could 8:34 minutes of my lifetime throw out my window. Thank you and your NATO-professor!
Sorry for my English, had no time to learn, was watching this video.
That works well, but not cost efficient in term of energy.
NATO professor 😂?
Yes
I want my 60 secondsof life back, Mr. "Natoprofessor"
I guess that the Easy Bake Oven would give him a seizure.
Its hotter than nato?
unsoldering device...
🤣
one part at the time
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Yes! I've tried this bulb, it's a very High heat generating lamp (bulb).
Well, despite all the criticisms here, I think it's a great soldering tool, I wouldn't have guessed that a halogen bulb could get hot enough (the video could've been trimmed down though).
And NATO professor? Lol, seriously!?
What the hell is a NATO professor ???
Here is another great use, if you have two of those bulbs, you can use them to eat corn on the cob.
at about 1:45 I felt compelled to go outside in my garden and watch the grass grow... did I miss much?
Nice
Thank u
Cool DIY tip, but this method is already used for SMD rework so nothing new.
"nato professor" ROFL
At least NATO professor would know how to clip nails
What the hell is a NATO Professor?
otima ideia.....
Neat! Next time I need to rework large components on and SMD board, I'll remember this one!
Ohhh, just the first 30sec painfully deflated my soul. Ripping the box-tab like that, *touching* the glass envelope, bending the leads right up to the glass, etc. I'm almost cringing at what's gonna be on the rest of the video...
Wish me luck. I'm going in...
Okay, that just made me sad.
This click bait worked on me, I watched it all the way through. But it was as Douglas Adams said, "Mostly Harmless"

Great rusty tools and old hack saw blade ! NATO professor ?
Can it Fry Egg ?
Even the NUTTY professor doesn't know this 😂
The author made himself a colonoscopy instrument
I don't think this makes enough heat. Or the wood would have caught fire. The zener he accidentally bumped the tweezers against didn't budge, although it was also exposed to the light. The board was initially dry and there is suddenly flux on it later. The bulb is probably only 20 watts. With higher wattage you should wipe it down with alcohol so that the greater heat doesn't degrade the quartz glass.
Super
Hi, donot crimp , do solder on lugs with legs of lamp. It will be easy.
Readers - DO NOT follow this stupid advice. This will fail quickly, as will the subject bodged lampholder shown in the video.
The leads out of the lamp get as hot as the incandescent filament inside. So hot the solder will melt. Further, Heat conducts down to the flexible cables and melts the insulation.
There is a reason why light fittings that use these halogen globes use ceramic holders (not plastic or timber) that have high temp crimps (the copper ones used here are low temp application only) connecting to high temp cable (usually a woven glass tube placed over PTFE insulated wire). These HT cables are around 200mm long that then connect to standard PVC copper cable (house wiring).
The EASY and only correct way to do this is use the proper pre-wired lampholder. The lamp simply plug in (good considering the short service life of these lamps) Any Electrical Wholesaler will stock them because the damn thing burn out and need replacement when using halogen lamps - they are as common as dirt, band new or salvaged from an upgraded light fitting.
@@BTW... Hi, You r right ✅️
What is this? How to cook your semi-conductors nice and crispy? By wasting a perfectly good big old capacitor? And my time?
Nóng vậy thật ko Đức?
thật nhé
Well, if you can't afford a hot-air blower.......
A conventional electric light bulb creates heat. Wowsers! Glad i skipped right to the end, not much time wasted.
Not much of a professor if they couldn't think of this but then, was it an electronic engineer or a professor of ancient history for NATO ?
This is just pitiful BS.
Nóng vậy à
Nóng hơn ấy chứ
The other great use of the light bulb is using it as a light bulb.
You can use a lightbulb to make light! who would have know! I taught they only serve as a toothpic!
đèn neon phải ko ad
Another usage could be to stick it in your a.. in winter to keep you warm.
