Hey Ricky, I’m sure you have considered it , but is now the time to increase access to that Diesel engine by cutting a new wider longer hatch. You are the “guru” of fibreglass! You will be thankful later I’m sure when it comes time to change the oil n filter n water pump impeller . All the best.

With long term engine vibration not tabbing the inside of the engine mounts would be a cause for concern, have you considered tabbing in small mounting blocks for the engine bay for long term peace of mind, in addition the engine once mounted will want to twist against the force of water which could cause corner cracking points in the tabbing, i would consider additional external reinforced points that secure the engine bay to hull, as structural members, tabbing will break off like duct tape once properly stressed

Wow getting the engines down into those spots is going to be quite an effort, and you have to do it TWICE!! Can’t wait to see it.

Dear Lady Africa, One little trick that you can do to help with the dust is this.
Get a furnace filter Large square filter for heating and cooling systems in a home (in the US we have these, Im not sure about South Africa). Tape it to the back of a box fan (air intake) and point the fan to a window or opening of some sort. As the dust floats through the air it will follow the air flow and get sucked up in the filter. This will not solve the dust problem but with the covering and cloths over other things it may lower how much dust you have to clean. Just thought I would share.
Good luck with the engine install.
I wish I had the means and funds to do this but alas I am just a working man trying to provide for his family.
    God Bless.

Make some 'positive' interior hull templates every 100 mm and transfer the curve to some 'negative' templates. You can check your cut lines 'upside down' on the bases before cutting, measure twice, cut once...

Should you move the water maker, out of the engine bay, would it be better for service.? I Enjoy being part of your journey thru TH-cam.

Hi guys, when the boat is afloat will any liquids in the bilge sit aft of the enjine mounts ? Cos you cant put limber holes in your motor mounts.

Looks like Its a grind :)
For sure I would attach those engine beds so there is no question about what would happen "if", something bad happens --- Two or three, 3" braces along the box might be considered that would not hinder access to the engines? That's my 2 cents. Beer before the going into the compartment helps with inverted and twisted yoga but maybe not grinding safely.

Is there no space to place the engines in the back? Or am I looking wrong. Just thinking about the noise or fumes.

I realize it's far too late for this idea.....but would it have been possible to mount both engines centrally in the location of the previous engine?? (reminiscent of paired motors on some larger outboards) or was that space too small to cram them both in there together?
Would it be worthwhile to create a large hatch in the ceiling of the space above where the motors are to allow them to be lowered into place?

I hope you don't mind me saying this but it "ground" not "grinder". Sorry but it hurts my ears.
Keep up the great work, I can't wait to see how the sail/drive system fits. In think that Vetus have been amazing, what an incredibly generous gift!
